What I see this week is there are a lot of first round conference match-ups...I don't like that but that is the way the seeding fell...I don't know if the NCHSAA will implement a rule against that or not...

East Gaston should be in pretty much no matter what. They will beat Highland for sure, and a loss to Shelby wont drop them out of the top 32, plus once they play Shelby it will help their opponents winning percentage.

A loss to a much higher ranked team shouldn't hurt your RPI much...what hurts is if your losses are to bad teams. I can guarantee EG will be in. Their RPI is high enough.

Pretty much, you want all your non conference opponents to be 1 loss ideally (to you). And you want to be undefeated with the second place team being 1 loss (to you).

Yes Griddie, due to RPI. Trinity has a current RPI of 29 and Randleman has an RPI of 37. Randleman blasting Trinity would certainly help - it would give them both a 4-5 W% of 0.444 (worth 0.133 RPI) which would be an improvement for them over currently being 3-5 (0.113 RPI) and Trinity being 4-4 (0.150 RPI).

Randleman's win alone over Trinity, not taking into account the OW% and OOW% changes, would up their RPI by 0.02 and would lower Trinity's RPI by 0.017. this would make Trinity's total RPI = 0.462 and would make Randleman's RPI = 0.462, a tie. But we know it won't be a tie because the OW% and the OOW% will also change that night...at that point it probably really comes down to hoping their non-conference opponents all win their games.

So will it change? Yes, but you have to win. If Randleman doesn't end up tying them...they'll at least pull themselves into the top 31 at least...but there are other teams that will improve too...maybe their wins push both Trinity and Randleman out of contention.

All you can do is win and hope for the best.

It is but they play a game tonight versus a 0.500 team (3-3) and on Saturday versus a 0.167 team (1-5). That'll bring their OW% down next week with those two games added.

Thanks GrizzlyDevil, statistics are not many people's forte on this site. Lincolnton is facing an uphill task with Maiden and West Lincoln (who have great winning percentages) to end the season. So, I just checked Lincolnton's out of conference opponents and those teams SHOULD go 5-1 down the stretch with the one lone loss going to either East or North Lincoln in their finale game of the regular season.

Trinity will lose its final two games to Randleman and SWR. So they likely will be out of the WC equation. Randleman will beat Trinity and then host Eastern Randolph. They likely lose that game but the ball is in their court. They win both and they most certainly are on. Split and it’s borderline
