Onside kick question

I know you can rugby style drop kick an onside kick. I also know the kicker can run with it before he kicks it. Here is my rules question. Can the person who takes the ball from the official to start the kick, hand the ball off to someone else to kick after taking possession of the ball for the free kick? If not, why not?

Yes Coach, he can. Nobody is a kicker until he kicks the ball. That can be any of the 11 on the field.

However, all the restrictions are met. There must be at least 4 players on each side of the kicker. The kicker is the only player who can be more than 5 yards deep.
