What in the world has HS in general come to. 2 kids get in a fight and are now facing charges. Any of you current educators, is this the common thing to happen, a fight between 2 students and off to jail? Maybe the fight was more than reporting, what happened to suspended them a couple of days?

Once again, is this common place to arrest a couple of kids for fighting? Maybe I’m too damn old.

Sorry for interrupting any football discussion.

Sadly this is more and more common. Often after a fight the first stop is the office and the second is the sheriff's office. The good news is that both sides cool off and the charges usually get dropped. On a positive note the frequency of school fights is dwindling.

I think some school started threatening that when I was in high school but very rarely ever followed through.

I have seen kids get arrested for fighting. Typically it is because they beat one kid up real bad or showed out with the SRO and Police after it was broken up. I have seen parents get arrested for coming on campus after their kids got into a fight and they start fighting in the office or parking lot. Depending on the location some places may have seen a decrease, but I would say in many more places fights are pretty routine, especially gang stuff and girls fighting over emotional crap and boys. Good old social media leads to lots of fights at school.

This happens more often in your area (Winston), and you decide to single out a Mount Airy school.:mad:. Winston, you hear about teen shootings almost weekly throughout the city and again lets hear about that ! This thread was uncalled for or singling out a certain school did not have to get done when it is at many schools. You are a jerk ! ! !

I worked at a HS in Taylorsville and it was automatic in handcuffs and to police station and you had a court date. That was some years back when a 16 year old could be charged now the law has changed. Kids now if under 18 are usually sent home OSS and parents pick them up. If the fight is bad enough you can be arrested but honestly in both situations it doesn't go on criminal record and is up yo Juvenile court as to punishment which is usually community service and slap on the wrist.

Usually depends on the circumstances and severity. A minor scuffle probably results in suspension more times than not. If students get physical with the teachers or administrator breaking it up then charges could easily come.

And you're an emotional simpleton. Don't be so offended, that article could have been about any school, anywhere, it just so happens to be about North Surry.

It's obvious that @Sportsnut17 is as even keeled as anyone on here. To assume he was pointing out a Surry County school on purpose is idiotic.

An article headline caught his eye, he read it, thought "damn", shared it with his thoughts. Simple as. You've gone and made it about you...emotional teenager behavior.

I would tell you to grow up, cupcake, but it's probably too late for you. You'll be stuck being an emotional nitwit forever.

I could have bet what was coming after I posted it. My only thought is do we go straight to jail with 2 teenagers Fighting. Why not handcuff them on the football field on Friday night for fighting?

And yes it’s seems we have a gun incident very regular in WSFCS. And damn they better go to jail.

Your county is far worse but this crap should never be posted and the door should not have been opened, CLOSE IT !

Forsyth County deputies are investigating after a stabbing during a fight at a Triad high school.

Damn no reason to be so sensitive. No where is perfect including Surry county.
I had no problem with the topic, which could have been posted as things going on in schools these days, without singling out a school when the same thing happened in the poster's county, but worse. I hated that I even posted the link to his county school that he could have used because it involved a weapon, and someone was stabbed, but I was making a point that posts like this about a single school were not necessary when it is going on everywhere. That is not being sensitive, it was just the point that a school was singled out, maybe 3 miles from me.

He knew when he posted it, he would get a response. Was that what he wanted was to stir up some comments because it has been dead on here lately, and wanted to stir up some comments ? 🤣🤣🤣
He can pick his county next time as a reference on how bad things are !

You're making this about yourself still. Obviously stabbings, shootings, etc. are worse and happen more frequently in larger cities. Obviously fights happen at every school.

HE'S NOT POINTING OUT ANY PARTICULAR SCHOOL ON PURPOSE. THE ARTICLE HE LINKED WAS THE MOST RECENT THAT HE READ PERTAINING TO THE SUBJECT MATTER OF HIS POST.

The point he was making was a general point in relation to arrests over a fist fight - for high school students - of any grade - at any school. It's the "what" that is important, not the "where". Im guessing reading comprehension isn't a strong trait you possess.

You calling out more heinous forms of violence at high schools isn't on track with the subject matter. You're adding a level to this that only exists in your head. Daggum I feel like I'm talking to that annoying poster from Clinton all over again. I blocked him years ago and I might do the same to you. Incoherent mumblings of a lost man.

Log off. Enjoy things that an old man should enjoy. You're picking a fight over nothing for no good reason against a good, honest poster. Leave it be.

I hate to admit on my part but back in my middle school days which was many years ago lol, I got in a fight over this person over a misunderstanding. Of course we were sent to the principal’s office. And the principal laid it to us with a paddle. Lol. Our parents were called in. To this day I hated that ever happened. But does anyone remember the days if you got paddling at school you didn’t dare tell your parents or you had another whipping at home or more consequences was coming. Lol.

Suspensions used to be the norm, but now jail time? What has to stop is these school fights that keep escalating beyond the classroom. The honor kids are not safe at school because of these hoodlums

What culture is predominately causing as this violence behavior?

Well, having been in public schools for a long time, I can state that it is not limited to a particular culture, group or class. "Honor" kids are just as likely to throw down as any others.

Let's make it clear that when I post my opinion about something on here, it has nothing to do with my age! I have been on NCPreps for probably 12 to 15 years total under 2 names and longer as TD. I have, just like everyone else, posted my opinion about something that I had an opposite opinion about. Call me old if you want, but I am just stating my opinion, just like everyone else, and it has nothing to do with age ! ! !
Each and every one will be my age someday, and I hope none of you will have to walk in my shoes. I will say no more about my shoes........................

You are missing the point of the entire post; that’s what people were trying to make you aware of. He never denied his home county doesn’t have school issues that are often more severe than the example.

What he was simply trying say was “ Do school fights now result in people being arrested rather than principal visit, ISS, paddling, etc?” and you missed that entirely. He used an article that had a school as an example.

You have a history of taking things far more personal than they were intended and so when you respond like you did, you get responded to based on that history. We all get responded to by most posters based on how we’ve handled things in the past to some degree.

You totally missed the point of the post I think. He was posting because he was shocked that kids would be arrested over just fighting. I don’t think he meant to disparage anyone.

I’ll edit to add that not too long ago we had a shooting in nearby New Bern where 2 of our former players were involved in a shooting and one was killed. Played on the same team at West Craven. ( my school) Former qb kills his rb. Sad times we live in.
