Northside Vs. Shelby! 2AA Title Game

Stats per our official stat man... Hope this helps Panther

131 yards rushing and 245 passing per game or 377 ypg..

Rushing: 1969 for season 31 tds
Passing: 3687 and 43 tds

41 PPG

defensively:

51 yards per game or 1.6 per rush
75 yards passing per game 11 per pass
Total defense: 126 per game or 2.6 per play
Defense has given up a total of 15 touchdowns all season 10 passing and 5 rushing

9 PPG

does Shelby both run and pass very well? also what does Shelby do the most, run or pass?

Shelby is pretty even in play selection this year:
431 rushes / 348 passes
31 rushing TDs / 43 passing TDs / 8 FGs / 4 punt/kick return TDs / 9 defensive TDs / 4 safeties

Shelby's leading rusher has been out since Week 5 (in first 5 games he had 510 yards rushing and 9 TDs, plus 10 catches for 93 yards and a TD, plus 1 KO return for TD. Last year he had 1,376 yards rushing and 17 TDs, plus 430 yards receiving and 6 TDs)....so since he has been out Shelby has alternated 3 running backs, all with very different skill sets.

So, I would call Shelby very balanced on offense with lots of weapons.

sounds like if Northside stacks the box against Shelby like they did against Clinton and East Duplin, they will have a very long day on defense. Clinton and East Duplin are very good teams, but they are much more run oriented than pass oriented. sounds like Shelby do both equally well. if thats the case, Northside better pick their poison very carefully.

I talked with a friend of mine from the Jacksonville area and he says this Northside team will be the best Shelby has played in the last four championships.

Considering we blasted those opponents by 24 points or more, that's not really saying nothing.

I agree but this guy loves high school football in that area.He says Shelby should win but this team has some athletes and plays very hard nosed football.

I'm sure you don't get to the title game if you don't have athletes and play hard-nosed ball. It will be a good game.

WOW! 3471 yds passing !!! and their running game is very legit as well !!! maybe Northside beating my East Duplin team was a mercy killing. it sounds like Northside may be in for a beatdown.

Heres a link to the Northside vs Clinton Game

I watched some of it. When I look at that Clinton team, I would bet that 97 Clinton team would beat that 2016 Clinton team by at least 4 tds! Now what that means for NS we'll just have to see.

I stand by my original assessment. 36-6 Golden Lions.

Yeah I wasn't impressed with their passing game at all. The running game seems fundamentally sound and pretty decent, but you need more than that to win regional finals these days. They would have gone out 2nd or 3rd round in the west/midwest this year.

NS seems to do a good job of getting the most out of their players and does well with offensive schemes to get their players in the right position.

"and these stats consist of our starters sitting out the whole second half with running clock" anyone that's any good had that problem

I watched the Clinton Northside game and was not impressed with either team. The game looked in slow motion. Northside has no kicking game at all. If they give Shelby the short fields they gave Clinton it will be very difficult to keep Shelby off the board. Their defense looked ok but Clinton did not put up much of a challenge. Clinton ran the same plays over and over without much success. Northside did throw a few good passes but the quarterback will not have the time he had in this game. Can't wait until Saturday will be at the game. Good luck Shelby, bring another title home!

Shelby, on You Tube or Hudle check out Clinton''s Wallace Rose Hill )who will be the 1AA champion. That's more like Clintons game against a very good team. They peaked too early

Nothing against Clinton Northside looked very slow and had no kicking game at all. If Clinton could have thrown e ball the game would not have been close. I just did not see the speed Ninja was talking about.

when NS "let it rain" as you called it, our starting corner on that side, who also happens to be our starting QB, had just went out with an injury. if he was in, i seriously doubt those passes are completed. not an excuse. just a fact.

Prime example of opinion folks.

NHS 20 - Shelby 19. It's good to be King

After last weekend you know it's not ED. You may have a claim if you suggest Shelby with them being the Golden Lions, tomorrow that will be settled.
we did beat Northside in regular season, and in turn won conference, and if Northside loses to Shelby they have won nothing so maybe Northside would then be "Princess". :)
