i think shelby wins, but by by 2 or 3 td's max. i dont think it will be a blowout. northside's defense is too quick to the ball.
Not sure you guys have seen quick yet....
My opinion on Northside is this.. they got some hard nosed tough kids who will not quit that I can promise you. You guys out West can keep giving them bulletin board material if you want to. You will be surprised. Like a poster said earlier if their QB has time you can bet your going to be in for a air raid. Receivers are big and athletic and will go up and get it. However Northside line is out of shape. If they put those big boys on a running program like the kids at Jacksonville are they would be scary.So if Shelby is in shape and are as good as everyone out West like to think they are they should win. But if they sit here and believe the hype their own hype and come in here thinking they are going to have a easy day. They are in for a rude awakening. This team is battle tested to go into Clinton,Bunn, East Duplin and win. This is no cakewalk team. My prediction.. Northside will shock the world. Shelby fans just talking way to much junk. Everyone in the state of NC know about Shelby and what they have done over the years. But we are talking about now!
You guys call it what you Jacksonville Cardinals hands down probably the fastest or one of the fastest teams in the state. So Northside have seen athletes. They played a very talented Havelock team close until the 4th QT so you guys keep sleeping if you want.

You do remember 1997 against Bandys and Clinton when we were going to blow them away.Also 2004 when we were going to kill SWO.That's why you play the game.
Yeah, and ALL Shelby posters "knew" that we were going to be in a dogfight vs Monroe. That's why we play the game.
I've never understood why fans take umbrage over the comments of other fans re: "looking ahead" or "thinking it will be easy" or the always popular "bulletin board material"

Yeah, the quarterback didn't react well to the cold, but I've never seen him have back to back tough games at any stage of football. He will be ready Saturday, regardless the conditions.
Even though I thought Clinton was the best team in the east, Northside will be the best matchup. "This game will not be decided until the 4th qtr".
Hunter Huss so far this year was our worst match up, Qb that could do it all
Rb, size and speed, and and a 6-4 rec that could jump and go get the ball.
Plus supposedly best D to date.
I do feel our boys were relaxed a bit, rolling everyweek.
But we still put up 48, we still held our own wasnt for 3 up for grab catches that were tds.
Last week went against the best D in West and fastest team, coach Ware knew wouldnt be much throwing, so we went to ground and pound, and wore Monroe down.
I think as LA has said, were battle tested.
TOs will be key, weather will play a roll.
Our coaching staff will play to there weakness.

No disrespect to you sir, but if the Northside O-Line is out of shape it's going to be a long night. Carson coming off the edge alone will wear two of them down. Shelby is quick and fast...and if you can match them I'll be very shocked. Hope for a injury free game from both teams. I just see Shelby winning this one by several TD's. They can come at you in so many ways and you have to choose one or the other...run or pass pick your poison. In the end it's going to wear out their opponent. Look at the Huss game which has given them the biggest fit all season. When it comes time to seal the deal, they put up 14 and give up none in the 4th quarter. Then last Friday, Monroe who had great speed all over the field wasn't able to move the ball at all. (43 yards offense) and that's because Shelby coaches studied the film and took advantage of what they could do and executed! I could be dead wrong, like I have been many times before, but it's going to take something special for Shelby to get beat.

If Northside stacks box, Borders (ECU recruit) will have a monster game for Shelby.
Very well be that Shelby wins... all I am saying is some of their fans seem to think that team is just going to lay down and give them the title. I can assure you that won't happen. I mean this team did not make it to the state title game because they suck. I mean everyone in the state of North Carolina who follows high school football knows about the tradition of the Shelby Golden Lions.. let's just not crown them yet. Let the game be played first. This program have been one game away from the big dance 5 times. They finally make it do you think that they will not be motivated just as much as Shelby will be to defend their crown? It's one game for all the marbles anything can happen. Like I said before you guys have came in heavy favorites before and look what happened. This is a tough bunch of kids who will not just lay down. They have beaten some of the top teams in the state to get to this game so just be real careful underestimating them is all I am saying.
A lot of these posters that are underestimating Northside are not Shelby fans.The majority of the Shelby backers know we must show up and play like we did this past Friday.
Yes sir I agree! Nobody is going to lay down and that's the way it should be! I want to see a hard fought game next Saturday, I want to see kids leaving nothing on the field! Shelby will have to come and play, and play hard. I'm not knocking Northside whatsoever...to make it to the championship game is a task in itself. I'm just saying that it seems like each year everyone is out to get Shelby and have the same story. Shelby is a totally different animal this year than they have been in the past three years...it's been the offense with a good defense and this year I think the defense is the best I have seen from Shelby in some time! '97 the game was somewhat lost before we ever stepped on the field.
'04 turning the ball over 3 times within our own 20 on your first 3 possessions puts you behind the 8 ball quick.
Both times the other team had a lot of help from us.
No.....no Shelby fan thinks that. It's a state championship game...no team is going to lay down. We just know what we have in our stables (shoutout to the Chargers?) or should I say our cages.
And then again Shelby has came in as heavy favorites before, and look what happened. Three in a row, that's what has happened. You talk about those two state title games that Shelby was beat. That's all you talk about. I don't care who you bring up to compare to Shelby. Shelby absolutely SHUT DOWN the 2aa defending State Champions last week. 43 yards of total offense. Shelby won't underestimate, coaching staff is too good for that. Y'all be real careful who you wish for, and what you say.... it's going to be ugly. The Golden Lions will have a field day on BOTH sides of the ball.

Has anyone ran down the field on Shelby all year?
Is this team going to be able to pass on Shelby? Because other than a handful of plays (which some were really big plays), I haven't seen any repeatedly successful with passing game. But I may be wrong? With their quarterback having 1600 yards in 15 games, I don't see it happening. Especially with what I've seen from their O-Line. Carson and Dax will have a field day with their O-Line, and will be all over their quarterback in the back field. You and I both know everyone can be beat. In my opinion this is the best defense I've seen from Shelby in a real long time, and one of the best defenses I've seen period. And I'm not taking anything away from the offense. To be able to adjust to the defensive strengths of each team as well as Shelby does throwing or running the ball is just as impressive. I just don't see this game even being close. Everyone can be upsetted, I don't believe it will happen this year. Take the complement on your team, or leave it. But I'm extremely impressed with the Lions this year. And I'm calling it how I see it.
still have to stick to my original choice of Northside by 7. Excited to play Shelby in this game.
Just wanted to make a correction----Monroe officially had 31 yards total offense (-18 yards rushing 49 yards passing).
dont get me wrong, Northside is a very good team, but imo they are very limited in their offensive options. i think they have a good reciever or two, and a couple of good backs, but their best offensive threat by far is their QB. he is good at running and passing. i wouldnt say he is great at either one, but he is solid at both. the main reason NS doesnt score more is they just dont have that many weapons.
