ND vs ledford... Again

We have paid on the visitors side the last several trips over there.

Yes. There is a gate over there as well as the “fox lot”. It isn’t owned by the school, but you can pay to park there. It’s a nice lot, but it will probably fill up pretty fast. If I can’t get a spot in the fox lot, I’ll probably park over at friendship elementary.

I usually park on John Greene Rd right across from the entrance to that lot, but I hate getting stuck in lots and try to avoid them if I can.

Word is that this will be the game on Channel 48 this Friday. I don't see it on their website yet.

It is on 2 channels, 48 and maybe 45? Will look and see, I ran across it on facebook, can't remember exact channels....

Also heard that they are bringing in extra bleachers, but no other details.

In the 1991 Thomasville vs North Davidson game, I remember them dragging in some of the bleachers from the softball field. A lot of work, but no doubt it will be needed.

Got my tickets in hand. Just waiting for Friday afternoon!

I was also there at the 1991 Thomasville vs ND game and remember they had extra bleachers but the most packed I think I have ever seen a game at ND was the 2012 Semifinal game vs Porter Ridge. There were fans lined up 3 or 4 rows deep all around the fence. I will say there will probably be more fans at the game this Friday.

I have a question about tickets, does anyone know if you can buy tickets any where else besides the schools?

I attended that Porter Ridge/North game for a reason that may seem strange to some. My son was a decent kicker during that time at Thomasville, but that game featured two of the best high school kickers I've ever seen. Great game, and I wasn't disappointed with the performances of the two kickers. And yes, it was packed.

I was at that game too.... It probably was the most crowded in history. I got there a little late (6:45) and had to squeeze into a spot on the visitor side. I remember seeing North’s kicker boot one... and then seeing Porter Ridge’s kicker absolutely HAMMER one. Not quite. Christopher Dunn sized kick, but it was over 50. I really thought North was going to win that game.

Matt Wogan is hands down the best high school kicker I've ever seen. And one of the best punters as well. I thought my son had a great day at the Shrine Bowl combine, but as soon as I saw Wogan kick, I knew there was no shame in finishing second that day. He kicked off from normal distance through the uprights and fifteen yards past the end zone....twice in a row. Maybe the only time I've seen a kicker get a standing ovation. Oregon used him, but not in keeping with his ability.

Is Ledford and ND each other's biggest rival? Or is East Davidson still Ledfords biggest rival?

I would agree with the comment above. East is not overly competitive in most sports....I also believe with North and Ledford being in the same conference, that has increased the rivalry.

True, but back in the old 2A/3A CCC Ledford and east were huge rivals, mainly because each team was pretty bad and it was a battle to stay out of the cellar, they were on each other's level back then, now their both at totally different ends of the spectrum, both stadiums were jammed pack when they played each other
Correct me if I am wrong but with a rival it should be competitive. Not sure ED is competitive in most sports these days.

At one time, didn’t Oregon put him in some kind of defensive role? Wogan was a big kid and I know he played some defense for Porter Ridge. I agree, Oregon didn’t use him like they should have. He should be kicking in the NFL if he so chose.

I don't agree with the above statement. Ledford has been competitive in football since the 1993 season when Dickie Cline took over. They are going on 25 years of playing very solid football.

If he ever played defense for Oregon, I wasn’t aware of it, but may have. He was pretty decent at linebacker for Porter Ridge. But that leg was up there with Janikowski and that’s saying something. My son called him “The Beast”.

I think the largest on North's side was the Porter Ridge game but overall the T-Ville game probably was more. TVille brought a lot more fans than Porter Ridge which makes sense.

Does anybody know how long the game tickets will be on sale at the schools tomorrow during the day or if there is anywhere else they will be sold? Also what time do the gates open?

I thgink today is the last day they are on sale at the schools. The gates will open at 5PM.

According to the Enterprise, tickets will also be on sale tomorrow from 7:15-8:00 am and 3:05-4:00 pm at Ledford.

My daughter mentioned something about them being sold online as well. I’ll go on record as knowing nothing else about this topic, as I am technologically challenged. My tickets have the words “Fanatics” and huddletickets.com on them.

Guessing that means you have a daughter who plays sports at North? Heard the same about online, would seem to be the way to go to save time and walk right in.

This is David (not Christopher, pulls that user name every time at home)......

Matt Wogan and Christopher are great friends and I feel qualified to say that as great of a kicker as Matt Wogan is, he is an even better young man! He was one of the kickers Christopher grew up watching at training sessions. Matt became a kick off specialist at Oregon, don’t think he took too many placekicks after his freshman season. He has one crazy strong leg, no denying that! Christopher is the opposite, accuracy with FGs is more of his calling card and where he tries to make his mark at State.

Matt hit a 58 yard FG, Christopher hit a 57. Both on the same ND field and both in November (going in the same direction, just from different hash marks). Not too shabby and it’s wild because I believe Spencer might have been All State over Matt that year (Matt was all State that season as a punter, I think) as Spencer made 18 FGs that year.

Anyway, good luck tonight and pulling for the current kickers to excel and make their own history tonight for the Black Knights!

Please let Chris know how very proud us Knight fans are in the excellent year that he had and Best of luck in the Bowl game!!

LETS GO BULLKNIGHTS!!!! or BLACKDOGS!!! However you want to call it,you have at least one Thomasville fan pulling for you tonight,LEDFORD MUST BE STOPPED....could Hell actually freeze over tonight?...don't take me seriously I'm just picking on Ledford in good clean fun, they earned the right to be here without question, but I still want them to loose,in the spirit of competition ND 24-10

Ledford has already went 3 and out in their first 3 walk through possessions. (Kidding....but I hope Ledford offense shows up with a pulse tonight because they have been not so good this year. If they win this game, the defense should ride to the state championship on charter buses and the offense on activity buses)

Tickets in hand... 15 layers of clothes on my body. Let’s go watch a football game!
really thought I was gonna go with the Family; work, time restraints, aggravation with parking and seating, plus being on T.V, I think I will watch from home! Will be cheering hard for The Black Knights!

Ledford just overmatched. Their poor offense. Worst I’ve seen this late in the playoffs ever. Just extremely limited play calling, scheme and personnel. Their defense is solid though. 3 Ledford turnovers out that defense in a hole. North is a big, physical team that just wears on you. Congrats to both teams. North marches on to Raleigh. Good luck to the black knights.
