ND vs ledford... Again

Ncprepball. I would have to say that ND is well know for hard use football success. I would also say they have produced way more football talent through the years!! I remember a great wide receiver named perry Tuttle that played there and went to Clemson!! Those tuttles were great players. IMO north gets the nod for being a more consistent football power!!

As a CCC fan, I’m excited to see two teams in the regional finals. I don’t follow football, as much as some of the other sports. So from an objective standpoint, this is what I’ve captured from the boards .....I’ve seen Ledford’s offense is terrible, but defense is great. Yet, I’ve not seen them win games 14-0 in the play offs, they're winning fairly big. I’m assuming most of you have heard “offense wins games, defense wins championships .” Then “North Should’ve won against Ledford,” but missed a field goal. “Should’ve, could’ve, would’ve.” Does this mean Ledford could’ve beat North twice last year, esp the last game that was close....Then you have a Thomasville fan, stating their game could’ve gone either way, meanwhile the final score was 35-0...Yes, when I think of Ledford, I typically think of how strong they’re in female sports, not in fball....As a neutral fan between ND and LHs, you guys should give Ledford more respect this year ...I can easily see North winning Friday, but let’s be objective people. Still, no offense to the North fans but when I think of North, it’s softball, not football.

Until this year nobody ever thought of ledford in football. They would be in that same boat...

Yeah theres woulda shoulda coulda, but anyone at that game saw ledford get one big play when our best defensive player went out. Otherwise North beat themselves. It would be different if ledford had ever straight up proven they were better. We gave it to em, I doubt that happens again. We'll see on Friday.

It's ok. They said football was a sport they paid less attention to. I don't expect them to know our football history when our baseball and softball teams are winning state and national titles. That's more what they would know about.

One more thing. The two games last year were not close. The scoreboard was much closer than the games. They were never in doubt. But again, that was last year.

That’s not really a valid run. Ledford baseball was 2A runner up last season...

I thought we were talking about what schools are known for. Ledford and North have DEFINITELY both been more known for baseball and softball than football, which was your original point.

It would not surprise me if North wins Friday. However, Ledford does deserve respect on this board, even though they have no posters. Ledford did beat North in the first meeting and are 13-1. Let’s be proud CCC has two teams in the regional finals.

Nobody here has disrespected Ledford at all, in fact, they have praised Ledford for their tremendous defense! I mean, they played great (their defense) in the game at North a few weeks ago. I will stand by my statement on one of these threads on here;) that if ND's monster DE didn't go out with an injury in the first game, and that ND's coach didn't go brain dead on the three yard line, that Ledford would have only scored the two points that ND gave them with the safety.

Ledford has a GREAT athletic history for the folks across North Carolina that don't know. The school has won multiple state titles, and was a runner-up in this past springs baseball series.

Ledford is absolutely awesome no doubt. They wouldn't be here if they weren't. They are a GREAT team. They play solid football on all three phases (excellent at defense.)

But they don't need our respect. Whether they have our respect or not, they have the only thing they need; a home game Friday they earned by beating North Davidson. That should provide them sufficient comfort.

Exactly. There is no love lost between the schools but there is respect. Regardless, it is correct that the CCC will have a representative in the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Reading the paper today, it says ledford scored one offensive touchdown against Hertford. They also got two field goals, a safety, and a kick return for TD.

Not exactly explosive but when you have a D like they do you don't need much lol!

I think you hit the nail on the head. Ledford’s defense creates a lot of their points.
If anyone from Thomasville implied that our game with Ledford was a tossup, I would strongly disagree. But unforced errors such as snapping the ball over the punter’s head into the end zone from the twenty, and a running back dropping the ball inside his own five without contact made the game seem much worse than it was. Nor did Ledford create six delay of game penalties ( and three timeouts to avoid others). Probably should have been a three touchdown game. A loss either way. I seem to remember Ledford being up 14-0 and had only run one offensive play.
But you can’t make mistakes against Ledford’s defense and expect them not to capitalize. They’re too good for that.

One could argue that since North doesn’t punt often, the long snapper is out of practice. But, North kicks a helluva lot of extra points. I know there is a slight yardage difference between the two types of snaps... but not a 30 yard launch.

North’s going to punt a lot more this coming week than they’ve been used to. Better cinch that mess up.

Here's an idea... Slow the game down like last year when we used a huddle to prevent signal stealing again... Keep ledfords offense off the field and tire their D out. I know, I know, easier said than done lol!

Ledford is known for having good concessions. But unless they change for the playoffs, the fare will be limited on the visitors’ side. Pizza and chick-fila. If you want hot dogs and hamburgers, you’ll have to go to the home side. The lines will be long.
I guess the real question is.....which side will be serving crow? Dedford.......errr Ledford falls in a close match. ND will play for the plaque.

Yes, I think north would make it a game with either
North could win against them if they play a near flawless game. They would certainly be the underdog in the ship but let's beat Ledford first and then worry about later. The beginning of the second half we had a couple of lapses on Friday but overall played very well. I still cant get over Brown having to lie on the field nearly 45 minutes waiting on an ambulance. If this was a spinal injury there are many consequences here including bigtime lawsuit. I pray this is considered moving forward.

ND is generally good for about 4-5 agressive personal foul penalties and about that many unsportsmanlike penalties against Ledford. They’ll need to control that in what should be another down to the wire game.
I will give the coaching staff credit on Friday. When one of our stars did this a message was sent. His butt was chewed nose to nose and he was not allowed back in the game. The attitude must always be the team is above the individual.

Are both schools going to pre sell tickets? I’d assume so but want to confirm. Ledford is awful for parking and entrance is tiny into the stadium so it would be a disaster otherwise.

Why this message still needs to be sent in the third round of the playoffs is frustrating.

Another thing I've been thinking about...

This will be Norths third shot at a state championship game in the past 8 years. It's so insanely hard to get there much less win it. The last two instances, they just could not punch the ticket to get to the game. Will this finally be it or will they be given heartbreak again. It feels like this one will sting the most if we fail but taste the sweetest to win.

The good news is that the Dispatch is reporting that the gates will open at 5:00 pm.

Friendship Elementary, located a semi-quick walk across John Green Rd., will have its back entrance open for additional parking. Not great, but WAY better than parking on the side of John Green Rd.

A 5pm gate opening is probably smart. The lines by 6pm would be pretty crazy. One thing you can bet on... Ledford will have the staff/volunteers in place to make this go as smoothly as it can possibly go.

No one saw this kind of thing back when they built this little bitty school on a tiny parcel of land back in the mid-70s.

John Ralls, at Ledford, won state titles in women’s b-ball, softball and men/women’s golf. I believe a couple were the same year.

The question is not where they will stand....but where will they park?
Does anyone know if there is stadium entrance access on the visitors side? There was years ago but the last many years I've entered in the home side.

North has someone on their staff who made the Hula Bowl as a long snapper after his senior year at Wake Forest!

We have paid on the visitors side the last several trips over there.
