Mt Airy vs Robbinsville Western Regional Final

36-0 close? BTW they lost in ship!
Rabun Gap is a national power who lost to Providence Day, another national power with the #1 recruit in the nation. They beat PD by 15 earlier in the season. Either way, lil ole Robbinsville had him 14-0 at the half, 22-0 entering the 4th which is better than probably 95% of public schools in NC would fare against them, regardless of classification.

in 70s and 80s MA had 5,000-7,000 people and Graham County was the same, Graham County is a county school and MA a city school. Only HS evre in Graham county was and is Robbinsville. Surry County had and has 4 HSs. N surry, E Surry, S Central, MA and Elkin. MA/ELKIN city schools. All these schools in 70s early 80s had under LOW NUMBERS and played up in 3A. tHEY ALL COULD PLAYED IN 1a but petitioned state to play up as 1A WAS watered down and most the 1A teams were up in the western mountains. My info is from someone who lived there then and is an Historian.
Graham county had 3 different highschools at one time. Do you just think things up and post?

Nah, one of your posters already let the cat out of the bag earlier. You had and still have a bigger population in Mt Airy as Robbinsville has in the entire county. Also as he quoted players from outside of the city school district. In other words open enrollment or no boundaries. When you have that like many other large counties the norm is for the best athletes tend to go to the school with the best athletes, not all, but most. In a county with 72,000 you can get the best of the best and still keep the numbers down so you can play in 1A. You will never win this argument

How many High Schools are in Graham County

I was thinking about a thousand total in the whole county, with about 50% of them being moonshiners who only come out at night. Wasn't Popcorn from Graham Co?

Good ole watered down 1A. 😂😂😂😂😂. Must be watered down this year too. Why didn’t yall petition the state to play up in 2a-3a this year since yall are such world beaters you claim to be
Mount Airy only had an ADM of 509 when the last realignment was done for 2021 - 2025 which made them 1A for the next 4 years 2021 to 2025. So I guess they may have gained about 90 students in the last 2 and 1/2 or 3 years. https://www.nchsaa.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Realignment-Data-Review-Post.pdf

Interesting, the premise is that MA play up in years passed and the SMC titles were from the "little league". If so then why has MA moved back to the "little league"? Why, if they win, are they beating their chests and proclaiming their greatness about beating the "little Leaguers"? Something in their logic makes no sense.

So far:
  1. Robbinsville has somewhere between 12-15 titles depending on where you look, how you count and what year/what you consider a true title.
  2. MA is in the top three when it comes to games won.
  3. No one outside of the SMC is allowed in the gate because Wildcat10 has already purchased all of the tickets and won't share.
  4. There's a chance of rain, snow, possibly even a tornado, we'll just have to wait for the updates on the hour.
  5. There's only one hotel in town and MA has booked every room because "We coming!!" Except for TD, he wants it to be closer to home, but he still isn't coming.
  6. MA fans aren't sure where to tailgate and keep changing it since it isn't allowed at the high school. However, Buzz has made some phone calls and said they can do it at the little kid school.
  7. Everyone seems to be arguing about weather, food, if tailgating is allowed and where, except RoughAndToughRider. He's just upset.
  8. Robbinsville played a good team early in the season and MA fans don't understand why they pulled starters when no chance of pulling out the win.
  9. MA is faster than NM and just as physical as any if not more than any SMC team.
  10. THSRudeBoyz is the only trying to get this thread on track.
  11. As many posts as this thread has, I'm personally surprised how everyone is staying civil (except that toughRider poster).
I'm sure I missed something...Who's playing again?
Great job you have us up to date. Can you keep us folks that can't sit out in the rain updated Friday? Thanks
