Mitchell @ Mount Airy 11/26/21 4th Round

Mitchell fans, how would y’all compare your team this year to your team that almost beat East Surry in 2019?
QB's running reminds me of each other the 2019 probably a better passing team or at least they passed more like deehunter said they had some big play receivers. This team may have more RB's besides the QB you've got #22 #26 #4.

Listening to the radio last night sounds like when stroupe went under center it really got the bears going. Similar in the playoffs last year at Pine Lake prep in the spring till he got hurt. It’s great to see the bears have that option he is as athletic as it gets. Got to remember gallimore is only a sophomore. Lot of pressure on him back there. I looked at eastern Randolph last night up front in pregame and thought man they are big and athletic. They got chewed up by a Murphy o and d line that was much more aggressive. I think the bears under jk have added this physicality. They are fortunate enough to be able to platoon players as well. Something the bears are very good at is in game adjustments something eastern Randolph didn’t do last night , not even once. Sounds like Mitchell is similar to the bears , big up front , a host of running backs and a great coaching staff, and alot of tradition, tradition on the cusp of greatness in the modern area. Long post , but I have to agree with buzz a bit here, Mitchell played a average at best 4a football team close , beat heritage , beat Watauga which they been doing since little league, and beat Thomasville last night who lost by a hundred to Salisbury. East Surry will beat Maiden next week, Lowman is to familiar with them, it’s a perfect set up for them. Maiden made Salisbury look like a jV squad last night. Then Mitchell lost to Andrews who there fans would say brought there best team to boonville last Friday . Whole lotta ifs and buts and who played who right there. I like this match up for the bears , this bears team in particular. This matchup in the past would scare me a bit as the bears would be as athletic as they come but soft as cotton like most Piedmont teams. One thing I like about this new style of football the bears are playing under jk is it is a very physical bruising brand of football. I think the bears win a tight one , similar to Mitchell and lake Norman . I think the bears will wear Mitchell down up front. I also think the bears backfield will be the most athletic Mitchell has seen this year. I also think Stroupe will play big here.

People also have talked about the bears schedule, but you have to remember one thing. The Bears did what all great teams do when they play a weak schedule. They not only beat every team in front of them , they destroyed them. Would have loved to see them and East Surry. I think they 2 touchdowns better than East but we will never know. Hats off to the Cardinals as well. Heck of a job by that coaching staff in pilot. Those kids are balling

Last evening the Starmount game plan really worked great moving the ball against Mt Airy and its D Line until.
Until half time and adjustments were made. Also did you notice that #32 (Defensive End) did two things: played some offense and was limping for a period of time. Dandy is a 15 year old Sophomore MAN. He is going to be a beast the next two years.

#1 Stroup came out with a cramp and worked on the bike until he was able to go back in the game.
#8 really started showing he not only can muscle his way with the ball but can out run most defenders.
#5 and #25 (both are sophomores) can just plain fly if given even the smallest hole and they can create holes.

I am going to miss somebody here but #10 and #6 are heat seekers once they get into the backfield and they get into the backfield a lot.

One other thing we know. Through 13 games, Mitchell has allowed 183 points to be scored. They have scored a lot more but they can be and have been scored on. I dare say they have not played a scoring machine like Mt Airy.
Will Bears be able to score enough this coming Friday night? We will see.

Whitley, I am assuming the Bears finished the game on a healthy note , including 32 right

Well like any thread concerning Mitchell it's the Andrews game now Lake Norman.
The Andrews game is like beating a dead horse only thing to add about the 3 lineman out etc Asheville citizens had a good article this week and talked about that not only the injuries but they were still working on the line anyway shuffling around getting the right chemistry ,which would then probably been going on at the Lake Norman game as well ,plus it was a game they found out they were playing the day of, zero time to prepare plus probably the first time these boys ever seen a triple option. I just don't believe they're the same team they were during the non-conference part of the schedule.
Now does that mean they're better the Mt Airy no I get the feeling they're pretty even teams but if I was them I wouldn't pay much attention to those games just like Mitchell probably shouldn't pay much attention to the Mt Airy schedule the only thing negative about I might say is because of it they haven't had to play a full game and win or lose I'd say Friday they'll have too. The only head to head game comparison is Draughn and they both took care of business there about the same so with see them play just initially like I said in get the feeling they're pretty even matched.

I could agree with the above assessment, very similar as well, kinda odd saying a MA team is similar to a mountain team. Very odd. But they are a physical bunch up front with a lot of size

Again " y'all " the game I was concerned about this week read my comments I said I honestly didn't know how the game would turn out that I believe we could win and to do so Mitchell would have to run and keep their offense off the field, I even said I was afraid of the kick-off. Don't how that's bragging and while I guess there was some the majority of bragging on Mitchell actually came from fans of other teams.
Yep, that would be me !!! I’m just waiting on someone to tell me Andrews is out and that I need to go to the basketball forum ! Lol. It’s not happening. I will be pulling for our mountain teams till the end

The mountain vs flatland thing comes up quite a bit during the playoffs and already mentioned here but as far as comparing MA to Mtn teams in playing like them but in this game I guess it's what you consider mountain or not. Officially Mt Airy is in the Piedmont just one county to the east of being in the Appalachian mountain chain but I guess you can also look at elevation. Below 1000ft is usually concerned piedmont ( though some official App Mtn towns are) below 500ft we're pretty bad to call you flatlanders even though that's 400 ft + higher then the coastal plains counties.
You have the SMC definitely mountain teams being in the thick of the Appalachian Mtn chain but only one of the towns Robbinsville is above 2,000 ft , Mt Airy is 1,115ft, 489 ft lower then Murphy but higher then the official App Mtn town of North Wilksboro who's @ 988ft.
I don't for some reason I've just thought of Surry county schools like I do the lower Piedmont schools

It’s really an attitude and the way you’ve had to live. Flatlanders got life easier. We don’t get anything given to us. We have to fight for everything. Most mountain families are either self made or trying to be. State doesn’t know there’s life past i85 so we grow trees and we work in mines. Very similar to life in eastern part of the state. Y’all got the triad and pumpkin spiced lattes and we have the mountains, hunting dogs, and grow up fighting for every inch.

MA is in the foothills just below blue ridge mtns.

Buzzcoach, what color was the spoon you were born with?
TD how about you? Was your birth right spoon Gold, Silver or wood?
I am pretty sure mine was the steering wheel of an old Alas Chambers tractor. The operative word their is "old".
If we want to swap "tough life" life stories I am fairly sure I can compete with anyone. 🤷‍♂️

That's what I thought I said I just said Piedmont instead of foothills. Just saying they're still higher then some towns who are in the Blue ridge mtns and for some reason I just never thought of them the same as other lower elevation teams but that could just be me.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever read on here lol

I think If the bears get by Mitchell they can take Murphy , I believe you guys have the harder draw with Mitchell , but waiting in the wings will be tarboro after East surry beat them I saw then you had better spread the field and mix it up with a good qb to beat them , I think craddock has it together too good down there .I just don’t think a run heavy team beats them .

You know that coaching staff at Mitchell is very hungry , besides tarboro they have been the most consistent in the playoffs the last several years .

I hate to get away from this interesting topic on who's poorer the who...But I noticed that NFHS shows this game as an upcoming game but I don't believe any of Mt Airy home games have been on there before have they? At least there's none on demand.

I think everyone should keep counting Robbinsville out.

I was looking so forward to telling how I was raised by wolves until picked up on side of the road by a poor cotton farmer who thought I could be trained to pick cotton.

They take them off the demand a couple hours after the game. No free film😉

They have advertised all the games this season. I haven't watched any because I went to the games. All the equipment is there

Socialist. Lol.

I think these two games will be dog fights for sure. It’ll be interesting to see mt airy. Looking forward to going up there. Where’s the best hole in the wall place to eat?

Sound like you’re the socialist. Crying about the state not acknowledging your existence.
