We shut down Trey Turner from Northwest Guilford who is a true D1 big time type prospect with single coverage you all don't have one receiver that scares us

Lincolnton offensively is as good as they come, however, what is the deal with that awful defense? With all those athletes, what's the problem? Tackling, discipline, scheme?

If I were Lincolnton fans I'd be a little more concerned about that defense's lack of ability to stop any offense with a pulse on a consistent basis.

Is awful defined by ...giving up 65 to maiden or...playing in the Regional Championship game....

Page 3 and it's only Saturday....this thread is going to be fun to watch. I've wanted to go to Reidsville and watch a game. They have some great posters on here. There will be some outstanding games this coming Friday, but I've made my choice to attend this classic between 2 great programs.

I think Lincolnton is a tremendous team. It's just mind boggling that a team that talented has such a poor defense. It shows just how good the offense is to carry the other side of the ball the whole year. Don't be so sensitive wolfies, just something to consider.

Not being sensitive...just stating facts from the L-town games I've seen. It's all about focus and doing their individual jobs.

Not a very Alabama-ish assessment, against a team averaging ~27 points per game.

I agree with that. Simply asked what the disconnect was in that side of the ball. Average giving up 27 a game and then a lot of games lately allowing 40+.

Small defensive line, on the field a lot because offense scores so fast, lots of guys going both ways, football in general much more focused on offense now on all levels. Plus we've played some pretty good offenses lately (Maiden, E Randolph, Hendersonville). Lots of reasons why we've allowed 27 points a game. But I wouldn't call the defense awful. And allowing 27 is fine when you score 50. Just gotta outscore the opponents two more times. And we'll never look back and say "man, that defense sucked!"

I'd be the first to admit....if we were in a nail biting contest with most of our opponents without our ability to light up the score board then my concern would be more intense defensively...but the final score in a lot of our games other than south point(won in OT in belmont), east Lincoln(won on a last second TD catch) , and maiden( simply got blasted from jump and still put up 47 in a loss) have been based on running clocks and playing a lot of our 2nd squad and jv players...no we don't have a typical Ltown defense..no we don't shut out games but up until week 11 if we had played all started the whole game( which never happened) except for the 3 mentioned ...I'm gonna take our odds moving forward....

Lincolnton won last year 36-6///that's 30 pt margin not 40///in 2013 Reidsville won 13-10..........so that's actually 46-19 L town way in those 2 games....not that any of that matters....this years team is this years team for both squads///and both are great//////So there!!

Actually, I think there should be a minimum age to post. We live in a world of hyped entertainment that tends to stifle reasoned banter, and It usually involves our more youthful posters. But, as an old dude, I may be pining for sensibilities that won't soon reappear on message boards!

But, if we are treating that as a serious question...the answer is yes. A pretty good Shelby team kept us out of this game last year.
