It's official, Richmond Coach has resigned

I've read this board numerous times, but never felt compelled to reply until now. Posting an ad in the newspaper saying to hire someone as football coach may be the most asinine thing I've ever seen. I would not admit to being the one to put that ad in the paper. I'm embarrassed as a Raider fan that it even happened.

To clarify, he didn't blame your hero for not winning titles. He said that the Raiders were better off without Denson. And you proved why Denson should be no where near the Head job.

And in the years before Dabo Swinney became head coach at Clemson (and he served as an assistant), Clemson had no conference titles and certainly no national title... and it took him three seasons to win a conference title.

Dabo played major college football after completing his high school career. He was part of a national title team although he did not play much he was there every day. He went directly into a Grad Assistant position for two years and then five seasons as a position coach at Alabama. Postion coach at Clemson for seven seasons with the last two as an assistant HC. He got the HC job first as an in season interim when Tommy Bowden resigned. Twelve years as an assistant, two as a GA, college football player for five, and half a season as an interim. A close friend coached with him at Alabama and then under him at Clemson. Said that he lived football and was brilliant in managing and reading people. Don't think Dabo is relevant to the conversation.

Regardless of the ad and personal opinions of young Denson he does not fit one of the criteria required in the job posting. The posting requires head coaching or college experience. I do wonder what the rest of the criteria in the decision is. Are they looking for young and upcoming or proven veteran? Offensive minded or Defensive? So what say you Raider Nation what criteria would you use for the next Head Coach?

They should hire Brad. It's the right thing to do. I saw the ad, you saw the ad. We know its the right thing to do. He played QB there almost 20 years ago. That has to have prepared him to run that program. Its like being a coach already when you play QB.

Hire someone b/c they played QB here almost 20 years ago. That's about as asinine as putting an ad in the newspaper. Brad has done absolutely nothing to earn being head football coach at Richmond. Why can't he go somewhere and prove himself like someone else suggested.

By your logic, let's hire Mike Thomas, he played QB almost 30 years ago. Would be way more experienced.

Seems to me this Brad Denson fella causes a lot of division in Richmond County. Some in the community are saying hire & some are saying fire. The most telling thing I saw on this thread was that coaches on Richmonds last 2 staffs favored someone else on staff over him should they hire within. It was confirmed by people in the know. It's obvious his fellow coaches don't like, respect, or think he is best for the job. Apparently your administration knows this if he isn't even being considered. Give it a rest and don't worry about someone dividing you. Pull together & support the new coach.

He could sure prove himself at Richmond now...I go along with the school's decision...I went along with coach C... (didn't always agree).
It's obvious someone at th Journal is pulling hard for Denson...If there ever was a time to take a chance, it's now...Richmond is tough... I don't think anyone could come on board from the outside and do any better right now. I'm just say in we're an 8 or 10 game winner next year regardless.We've fallen behind and right now a pretty fair coach can only do so much...There are no miracle workers out there..alot of work to be done...I just say good luck...I'm just a fan...and hope I'm wrong about the 8or10 g ames..depends on schedule. A title now would be a miracle...we've seen them before GO RAIDERS...

I think today's misguided article in the Daily Journal should seal the deal of Densons fate.
1) He's got to go somewhere on his own to prove himself and get experience......because he has NO Varsity head coaching experience, NO JV head coaching experience, NO Freshman head coaching experience, & NO Coordinators experience.
Or
2) The New head coach is going to have tell Denson his services aren't needed on his staff.

I don't see how there can be cohesion. As someone stated earlier, it appears Denson is causing division.

I agree King...it's either all or none. I'm sure he could do good... good don't seem to be enough, understandably, and I'm sure he's either in or OUT at this point because of what you're say I g...however, now is the perfect time to take a chance...those kids will win above avg. For any coach.
