Independence vs Charlotte Catholic

MC, Indy, Hough are on a different level right now. Then add WC 1A. Think Indy wins and wins convincingly. Those 4 should be favored in the rest of their games unless playing each other.

Wow...just looking at that Indy schedule. Really soft. Catholic might be the best team they play.
I literally said that in a post a month or so ago. I was told how great Myers Park would be which I didn’t really buy into. Now the conference is down because of Butler being not good but to be fair they played a stiff non conference schedule. I would have loved them to test themselves like Mallard Creek, Weddington and Butler with their non conference schedule.

Indy should win this game.

Big fan of McFadden but I agree that schedule is super weak in non conference. Butler and creek load up on non conference, idk how Indy ends up with schools like MP and south meck..way to play “youth ball” like schedule. They might only want to drive 20 minutes tops for games 🤷🏾‍♂️lol. I think I saw fans on social media challenge Indy’s schedule as well. McFaddens rebuttal was they have played butler, grimsley, and east Forsyth recently. Buddy you ain’t schedule none of those teams, butler is a conference game and the other 2 you saw in the playoffs lol. Include the context next time. My gut feeling is they will load up next season now that they are expected to actually quality teams, not Charlotte Christian, hickory ridge and south neck.

Still think butler can give them a game depending on health and where that team is at mentally by then. Talent wise Indy is good but they haven’t faced a team that can match up with them since maybe Myers Park? SW4A is down this season but butler played it close with some top notch teams with a brand new scheme and key guys banged up on both sides.

100% agree with this. Indy should very well be 10-0 going into the playoffs. Depending on if Lawerence can get back in time, I think Butler will give them a good fight, but as of right now, I still like Indy's talent to prevail in that one. I will say that Indy's schedule does them no favors going into the playoffs. I don't really think they'll be battle-tested enough. I think they have a great team, but I just don't see them in the same tier as teams like Weddington, Creek, Hough, Grimsley, or any of the other top dawgs in the west. Their playoff experience will help them a lot, though. Their key to beating those top dawgs will be putting the ball in their stud rb hands. He was the leading force behind their Cinderella run last year. I definitely think he can lead them on a run again.

Indy was down when Mcfadden took over so they didn’t have the toughest schedule which I understand. It seemed like they replaced Mallard Creek with Myers Park. I wonder why that wasn’t ran back. Indy vs Dutch Fork would have been good since Butler played Irmo.

Charlotte Christian is a good team. Mallard Creek game last year was a 3rd party deal in the CLT Kickoff Classic, just like Myers Park was this year with the Panthers.

Hickory Ridge was a good program when that game was scheduled. Evans at South Meck is friends with McFadden, I'm sure that plays a role in why they play South.

Scheduling contracts open up after this season, they'll have an opportunity to make changes, but the realignment will need to shake out first. Lot of teams will have new opponents next season.

Might be projecting wishful thinking here but this could be a trap game for Independence. On paper, Indy is one of the better teams in the area but I am not sure they have been tested other than maybe against Christian. All this 10-0 talk may have them overlooking the regular season. They got complacent against Myers Park in the second half and it almost cost them. They have eaten some cupcakes early in the season and could have won with their B or C game. Bulter is the most dangerous 1-4 team in the state. Recent outings against Irmo and Weddington indicate they may be getting their act together. If Indy doesn't bring their A game against Catholic Friday, they will lose. Catholic has faced stiff competition with Providence Day and Crest and had their chances against both. I predict this game will be closer than most seem to expect.

To the Catholic fans. Do yall know what classification CC will be in next year when they go to 8 divisions or classes or whatever they call it.

A friend asked about my prediction regarding the 2024 champion among Mallard Creek, Independence, and Hough. I responded that it is too early and too much football left. However, I did not believe any of the three would succeed. I have my reasons, but I can’t share them here. Some things are too delicate and painful to lay bare, and revealing them might ignite a fire of conflict, so lets leave it there.

Charlotte Catholic 25 Independence 22. Final.
That's exactly what I’m talking about! What a phenomenal game! The energy, the thrill, the intensity—outstanding performance. It was nothing short of spectacular! The machine is focused on winning important games ahead. A magnificent victory.

Yep. Unfortunately, they lost tonight.

Last night was old school and a little new school. We burned 11 minutes off the third quarter on one drive. Controlled the clock entire first half. Then had to go to the air to win it, one of the most incredible throws and catches I have seen.

Gotta say, that Indy RB is going to be a problem, kid is special!

Would have posted on Saturday. Have been without a laptop for almost a week and just got it back. Not to gloat after the fact but this game was interesting on several levels. I called it a potential trap game for Independence and it was. It was also a classic example of what the Wing-T offense can do if executed. Catholic got some breaks and time of possession was 2 to 1 in their favor. Independence struggled to stop the run for 3 quarters and Catholic kept them off the field by running between the tackles. Catholic went into the 4th quarter up 17-6. Independence is explosive and scored 2 touchdowns on big plays as their athletes got into space and made some big plays. Next thing you know it is 22-17 Indy with a little over 2 minutes to go in the game. Catholic needed to throw the ball and went down the field quickly including a go ahead touchdown pass with about a minute to go in the game.

Key takeaways:
  1. Catholic shortened the game and were in it with the chance to win at the end. If given this opportunity to start, they would take it every time. Ironically, they won it throwing the ball at the end after keeping it on the ground for 3 quarters.
  2. Independence was kept off the field with Catholic's grind it out offense. If you don't have the ball, you can't score. When Indy did have it, the pressed perhaps a bit too much and made some mistakes including an INT in the end zone.
  3. Independence is explosive and has some big time playmakers. They have a D1 back. They have the pieces for a deep run but their early season schedule left them untested rolling into a game where they might lose.
  4. Catholic now has the inside track for the conference and playoff seeding. Bulter's record is deceiving and they have the potential make life miserable for both Catholic and Indy. Still a lot of football to play in the regular season.
For those with no dog in the fight, this was a great game to watch. Unfortunately, I had to view the live stream. Whatever was used to point the camera was not working well. A motion detector perhaps? Multiple times, during big and critical plays, the camera pointed at midfield or the opposite end zone. There was a lot of noise from the fans but no clue as to what happened. Need to get this fixed. A small corner with the scoreboard in the picture would help too.
