Looks like in the East 415 and under there are 16 one only has 88 so with 8 in the West that's 24 total there's one in the East that's close @ 417. But you wouldn't have enough for a West championship and basically all you'd have except maybe Andrews once in a while mixed in would more that likely Robbinsville winning the championship every year but with little to no other competition so where's the fun in that?
That's 24 with a few more starting football in the next two years. That will be close to the 50% needed.

Well still not the quality of competition you have now. But they may end up not combining probably depends on how many will be in 2A 64 is the max for each division so could be less but if there is 64 2A schools 24 could be to many to combine but question would be with only 8 in the current West out of the 16 in the East who is close enough to pull into the West for playoffs? Then again I guess with 24 schools you probably don't need to split it.

After fifty plus years with four a bit smaller increase may be the best route.

Really think five classes this realignment. Then six the next may have been the way to go. Or just do six now. If they did five next the positives and negatives would show and they could plan better for six the following. Repeat the process.

I like that measured approach.
