Actually I’m not sure how they would decide, if East ended up winning. If they decided it by goal difference then Salisbury has won the conference. Not sure if they would just split it.

Looks like the Mideastern conference ((New Hanover specifically) has 1 more game before the regular season wraps up.

As a reminder from my early post, since 1980, the Triangle area has produced 30 4A state championships, Charlotte 6 and the triad 5. Wilmington has 1 and Asheville 1.

For those in the east, you have to beat one or more Triangle teams to make the state championship game.

I am not totally versed on this subject but I do know that some of the triangle players competing in certain travel clubs cannot play high school soccer. This may have some impact on why other east areas are now more competitive.

Hoggard is the class of our conference this year but has been unable get the needed wins against the Triangle teams. Ashley and Laney have had some success but share the lack of success against the Triangle. Topsail, who is having a great year, may not have the experience to string together wins against Triangle teams.

New Hanover, which is the only conference team that has been able to overcome the Triangle dominance does not have the team
to make a run this year.

I am looking forward to the early round games to get a better handle on who has a quality side to compete with Raleigh.

Thanks for sharing that information CatScratchFever23. Something I learned new today. Teams to watch for out of the West in 4A is Myers Park, Lake Norman and Asheville. Asheville still has a game on Nov. 4 against Enka I believe.

matchups in the Mideastern 4A conference if these go final. Looks like we will get a shot at some Wake County teams early. New Hanover gets conference rival Topsail, who has had little trouble beating NH this year.
