Maybe so. I usually wait till I can find an official announcement. I haven’t seen one on Cherokee yet.
Smith is open every other year. Supposedly it is a terrible place to work. That's what I've always been told.
It’s like schools are stuck in a loop! Same old coaches, zero ring bling. Can't win a game but still got the job? Imagine the talent out there like, 'No thanks, I'll just train my dog'. NC needs coaches who scream winning vibes, not reruns of failure!
Issue is most good coach leave or dont stay long that why u have a lot of re used coaches. but i will say - NC has some good coaches but there some who move around a lot or some dont have as much experiance but we have to do a better job of training our coaches in term of colleges coaches need be hand on and do camps for coaches and video calls and other stuff imo and just I think PAY and resources are also a big part of us keeping our coaches here in this state.

Dang Right, a lot of places don’t Give a Crap. More Schools in NC are worried about Test Scores than Athletic Scores. Now Teachers with low test Scores will
Be fired before a Football Coach with no Scores Will! There are a lot of decent Coaches in NC but no pay and no Help! Hell look at South Carolina I feel like almost half the head Coaches in that state have NC ties! This has always been a Baseball and Basketball State!
Also what I have seen is - there a lot schools that PICK n Chose who they allows; who they dont allow like example in Iredell co they say you MUST be a Teacher to be a Head coach but yet they have bent the RULES for some but not all. also Iredell co pick and chose who they allow to volunteer or this or that.
Like in SC u see all these coach there esp ones who have already retired and all they have to do is COACH n thats it

SWO couldn't hire the right person if he begged to get on the staff. I hope so but seriously doubt it
Brian Hales is the interim at Butler, so I guess you can take it off for now...
Heard this rumor a few weeks ago but wanted to make sure before posting up here but sounds like Lakewood will be hiring Clinton Defensive Coordinator Travis Elliot as the new head coach

Looks like Lakewood has hired a coach and Laney’s just resigned. Butler named an interim. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the sidelines this fall. Haven’t heard anything out of Cherokee

Yes Lakewood HA hired Travis Elliott from Clinton HS - Elliott is a former greyhound and I believe Catawba co guy so Great to see him get an opportunity as a HC!

Richlands HC stepped down as well, but don't know if they has hire someone from in house or not.
Here is a link to the pay scale for Cherokee Schools. They do you the favor of comparing it to NC teacher pay on the spreadsheet. Its almost 15K more a year
And there is that 15-25 years with no increase. Unbelievable for our most experienced educators
The problem is housing around the Cherokee area. Great facilities, great people too. I competed against them many times when I coached at SM.
