A few issues exist now that inhibit some quality assistants to apply for jobs. Do they want to relocate? Is the AD/Principal only going to hire someone with the label HC on their resume? I personally know of 5 current HC's that were terrible at the previous school and are still terrible at the new school. They lost before and continue too lose, but for some reason being labeled as HC previously means you are more qualified than a quality DC/OC or career assistant that really knows football. Then you have the good old boys network in some counties also. My guess is there are some quality candidates that are an OC/DC at some successful schools, but they may not have that HC label on the resume and get overlooked.
