Out of state 5A game of interest. This one was hard not to post. But 12-1 Dutch Fork will travel to 9-3 Gaffney at the Reservation. Home field advantage may help Gaffney to pull out a defeat. Winner will take on Summerville n Fort Dorchester winner for the 5A Championship game.

I believe Gaffney being at home will definitely benefit them, but I see Dutch Fork figuring out a way to get revenge on the Indians. This sets up to be a pretty good game. I see the final being Dutch Fork vs Fort Dorchester.

DF were their own worst enemy in the title game last year on the offensive side of the ball. Thought biggest issue for DF last year was a very new and young staff which seemed to show on defense.

I would favor DF but Gaffney is one of those teams that seems to come together late in the season and get up for the big games. The Gaffney fans will be out in full force. One of the best and most vocals crowds I have seen at a state title game last year. DF does not travel that well so definitely the crowd will favor the Indians. Great facility!

I know the Reservation is a tough place to play. But I feel like this DF team has hit another gear. It will take a balanced team that can stop the run and four quarters of mistake free football to beat them imo. Jarvis Green last week. Those were video game numbers. Just ridiculous.

One thing is for sure, the Reservation IS NOT the place you want to play with a big game on the line. Gaffney's field and atmosphere in this stadium is no where near what is was in the old Reservation, but still an electric place to play. Gaffney is the 1 team everyone dreads playing come playoff time, but Tom Knotts is the 1 coach everyone dreads playing as well. I look for a great game packed with championship football, and this is just for the upper state title; whoever wins this game will have their hands full with Fort Dorchester or Summerville, Fort Dorchester IMHO, in the state title game.

This is the real 5A state championship game in SC. Fort Dorchester and Summerville would have been the 5th and 6th best teams in Gaffney’s region.

Dutch Fork is the midlands/lower-state all-star team and will win by at least a couple of scores against Gaffney.

How long has it been since De La Salle (California) was not in the top 100 of any ranking?

Also, St Frances Academy, the only team to defeat Dutch Fork, was ranked #3.

50 of the top 100 teams are from the states of Cal, Fla, Tex, and GA. I would think all states have great athletes but these states do a better job developing them.

Both Buford and St Frances lost last week. St Frances lost to IMG however, no shame there.
Walton is quite a bit larger school than Buford, but Buford has a good number of students that live out-of-zone which is how they ended up in 7A this year. Most of their titles (with the exception of the last few years) were at a lower classification. They're obviously still really good, but it's a step up in competition.

Couple interesting facts with this game. Tom Knotts has never coached a game at Gaffney. And Knotts never beaten Gaffney. Lost to them last year in the 5A State Championship game and also in the 2012 State Final game. Interesting to see how this one turns out.

Neither of those matchups have really been elite teams for either school and this year is the same.

A couple of bad decisions by the QB and defensive coaching breakdowns in the last matchup spelled doom for DF.
Gaffney's stands were packed and rocking. Expect it to be even bigger tonight if the rain is over.

What the Gaffney football program has accomplished over the last 100 years is far more impressive than the Tommy Knotts drama.
You, of all people should focus on that.
A community supported success story for a century gains our respect far more than one great coach.
But your love affair with the Knotts persona blinds you, as well as your need to suck up.
You must have Knotts photos hanging in your house.

You’re seriously comparing a program with 100 years of tradition to a coach? That’s an apples to oranges comparison.

I think it is a fair assessment that "gushing over" and "nauseating" is much more fitting for the three of you and not I. I am not starting posts being overbearing and belligerent or hijacking posts. I copied two of the signs in the stadium although I think it read, "Tommy's Foxes."

"Sucking up" has never really been a necessity for me.

Just checked back in to see any updates, and there you are flapping your gums.
We would much rather be associated with a dominant winning program than associated with…with…? What are you associated with?
Mindlessly following Tommy Knotts around?
You have no credentials to support your ramblings. You are the one that jumps in to name drop and try to be relevant.
What have you ever done?

The fact that your even comparing a program to a coach solidifies how great of a coach knots is
