In all seriousness why would he leave Mt. Airy for Freedom? I am not trying to rock the boat or continue an argument. Maybe I missed the reasoning in an earlier post. Help me out. Why leave?
The very best that those of us in Mt Airy can figure out, notice I said figure out because we do not know, is family reason and "going home".
Let me tell you what we do know:
1. No One in Mt Airy wants him to leave.
2. While we lost some really outstanding players, Mt Airy is still LOADED.
3. The coaching staff worked fabulously together, a really well oiled machine.
4. The young men on the team completely bought into his program, weight room work, team first, support each other, etc.
Let me say what most of us Fans see going forward or hope for going forward:
1. The coaching staff stays in tack.
2. The new head coach is the previous head coach (1 state championship in 3 appearances) that retired to watch his son play college ball and the past 3 or 4 years was one of Adkin's top assistants.
3. If not number 2 above, we have complete confidence in the school staff and administration will select another top notch HC.
I believe Freedom will thrive under J K and will reach new heights with 2 to 4 years. He will represent the school and community very well. I believe if he had chosen to stay at Mt Airy, he had the very real possibility of being talked about in the same manner of Tommy Knott, formerly of Independence HS and now of SC Dutch Fork HS.
