The only team I know of that would play us from Cumberland is Cape Fear. The rest don't want the stigma of losing to a 2A school, I guess lol.

They were letting us play in the Cumberland County Jamboree but of course this was during Clinton's down years.....but I agree I think many are worried about taking a lost besides maybe 71st I think Clinton would beat any Cumberland county team
A loss by a 4A team to a storied program like Clinton is not a bad thing, in my opinion. I would love to see them play Jack Britt or 71st.
I'm not saying I agree with the Cumberland county schools not playing Clinton, heck I'd love to see a big game matchup, but what do they (Cumberland county schools) have to gain from it. If they win, it's like oh well they are a 2A school you are supposed to win, and if they lose it hurts them. Similar to someone like UNC scheduling App state back when they were FCS school if u lose it looks bad, if u win, well u should've won. But I'd be all for it, heck Clinton vs South View would be fun, Rumble in the Jungle.
I think playing against a top 5 ranked 2A school you do have something to gain also I'm sure it would bring out a big gate folks over in Cumberland County get to read about us at times in the Fay Observer I'm sure they would like to see us in person....same goes for East Bladen and Wallace Rose-Hill
No matter the classification... a good team is a good team. There are good teams around in the smaller classifications that will hold their own with most larger schools
