Last year I said several times that Lewis-Williams, in my opinion, was the best ladies basketball player in the state and that just like Seth Curry, the ACC really stepped on it by not getting her.

Well, I am happy to report that she has started the first 3 games for the University of Buffalo and is logging the third most minutes of the players. Buffalo is 2 and 1 after 3 games. She is going to make her mark I have no doubt.

She is most definitely a player!!!!! Love to hear that report!!!!

I just watched Kirsten Lewis-Williams have a game against St. Bonaventure. Its not her offensive game that has impressed as much its her defense. At 5' 10" she guarded 1-4 with extreme intensity disrupting set plays and providing timely weakside help. She took 3 charges in this game!! Ok the offensive stats against a A10 school 19pts/8reb(5oreb)/2ast/1blk from a freshman 5 games in...

Kirsten Lewis-Williams has been named MAC Freshman of the Year, All MAC Honorable Mention and made the ALL-Freshman Team. I only lived in the Mooresville area for 7yrs so elders please correct me but I think she is the most gifted female basketball players to come out of Iredell County. If not for covid I'm certain she would have scored 2k, 1k Reb and 500+ AST based on MAX preps stats. Davidson and the ACC schools let one get away...

Thanks for sharing. Kirsten Lewis-Williams definitely is a gifted basketball player and rightly so. I‘ve seen her play on different occasions and I’m sure she is one of the most talented players out of Iredell Co.
There are a couple players come to mind. Two girls that played for South Iredell from years back. One was (the late) Ann Ellis who played back a ‘73-‘77 had scored 2,166 points. She broke her brother‘s ( Ben Ellis) school record by scoring 60 points one game. Her brother had scored 51 in a game. Another player that I personally seen play was Sherry Cash ‘77-‘80 of South Iredell. She had scored 2,127 carrier points. Ann Ellis was inducted in the Iredell Co school Hall of Fame.
Competition level was different from years back than now. One thing for sure Kirsten Lewis-Williams did help take Lake Norman to the 4A State Championship game last year. She sure is impressive player.

I am so happy for her and for the opportunity that University of Buffalo provided. And if Davidson, UNCC, and all the other area schools are not hanging their recruiting head THEY SHOULD BE!

Last year mid January I was talking with the Lake Norman Lady's Coach and she said while Kristen was just destroying the competition at the Cherokee Tournament, hardly a college coach even talked to Kristen. NOT EVEN LENOIR RHYNE who was there recruiting. She did have an offer from NC A&T and maybe Campbell, but not any other schools anywhere close to NC that I am aware of.

Can you imagine that?

Kirsten is having a great start to sophomore year, UB is 8-0 and she is a main reason 11.8Pts 4.8Reb 2.9Ast 2.2Stl 47%FG 83%Fts. Still not sure why she was not heavily recruited out of high school but I'm sure any of the P5 schools in the area would take her immediately if she hits the portal.

Kirsten Lewis-Williams, formerly of Lake Norman and not recruited by a single NC upper level college, just led 12-0 University of Buffalo to a conference opening win over Central Michigan university with team leading 19 points ( 7 for 14 shooting and 5 of 6 free throws), 12 rebounds, 2 assist and 3 steals in a team leading 36 minutes of play. She is just a sophomore.

Sure sure am glad these great NC college coaches do such a great job of recruiting the top local talent and keeping them in state so we can see them play. (For any NC College Coach to understand this tongue in cheek statement, perhaps you need to ask your athletic director to explain it to you.)

Lewis-Williams also earns All-MAC honors for the second straight year after being named the MAC Freshman of the Year and All-MAC Honorable Mention as a rookie. The Mooresville, NC native is averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 50% from the floor in 29 starts. She has scored in double figures 22 times, including a career-high 29 points in the win over Miami (OH). She has been a problem for opposing defenses as she ranks second in the MAC in free throws made (118) and attempted (146) while also ranking second on the team in steals (63).

Today was another day of regret about missed opportunities for NC College of College Coaches. Those that can recognize talent so very well. If you do not believe that statement JUST ASK THEM.

Ouch! The ONE THAT NO NC COLLEGE COACH WANTED, helped her team do it again. In her sophomore year, second as a starter, her MAC ALL Conference Selection, played only 39 minutes out of 40, hit 9 straight free throws, led her team in rebounds (6 with 4 others at 6) and scored 17 points to help the 28-7 University of Buffalo team to another NIT win to put them in the round of FAB 4 (last 4 teams standing).
In last 3 minutes of the game Kristen got a big defensive rebound an hit 4 straight free throws to help her team secure the 4th quarter come from behind victory.

And who did they defeat today, Big 10 Conference Rutgers.

I wonder who u think is better - Her or Samantha Shehan!

I think Shehan will be just as great at the next level! KLW was a beast but Shehans got the Title

No doubt Samantha Shehan is really, really good. But I still will go with Kristen. She could and did take over games, in part because she was playing with a freshman and 3 sophomores.

And Kristen just helped her UofB team to the championship game of the WNIT. Played 39 minutes AGAIN in the semi finals game against Cleveland State. 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals.

I would dare say, without absolutely know it for a fact, that no other NC high school player of he graduating class has had more success and had more of an impact on her team than Kristen has.

No doubt Sam is a great player and will continue to develop further. Kirsten has been a starter at DI UB from day one winning Freshman of the year and just recently Second Team All MAC honors asa sophomore. Did not complete the undefeated high school season to win the championship but today her team won the WNIT.
Played the entire game matched up against a 6’3 player from Troy while being 5’10
18pts 6rebs 5ast 2stls 1 blk. Made the defensive play to seal the game.

I was at a family gathering today and unable to post here, so first to NC_UB Fan thank you for posting the above.
I did follow the game as best I could and the steal with 5 seconds left in a 3 point game and then to make the free throw that sealed the game........... Now that is a pretty dog gone great way to end her second season.

Now I am going to say something: I hope she does not give one minute of attention to any portal request or offers from any NC, Virginia or SC "major" programs. I hope she stays where she is, the only true D1 Program that told her they "wanted" her. She may or may not be South Carolina good but she sure as shooting was Wake Forest, Carolina, Duke, NC State, ECU, Appalachian, Western Carolina, UNCC or Davidson GOOD.

I have said it before and will say it again, the coaches at these schools should be ashamed of themselves and staffs.

Davidson being less then 3miles from Lake Norman high school NEVER showed up to a team practice during her high school career EVER🙄.

I’ve never understood why Wake Forest hasn’t put forth more effort to recruit more ladies from WNC/Piedmont region. Especially, when there has been local talent and WF typically finishes at the bottom of the conference.
It’s good to see Holland, from Cramer, has committed to the Deacs.
