If this Conference does stay as is it will hurt several schools I forsee
We don't recruit lol. Town of maiden is just really good at marketing their open housing availability to people in need of safe, clean and affordable homes. Along with a great educational system that helps kids thrive on their journey of learning.
I think Maiden is a nice small town don't get me wrong, but with the exception of that Laboratory they have and I don't know the exact name so I just call it the laboratory Maiden's other feeder program is somewhat weak and not competitive enough so in a sense while the town is nice and experiencing more growth than it has especially where my family lives towards the Golf course Maiden needs a bit of a stronger feeder program in rec ball and that came from the experiences of my sister who has a kid in the program in Maiden!!

U can't just go by maiden rec. We have kids that play at startown optimist and in youth leagues like the Carolina ducks travel League. Balls creek optimist. Basically point being maiden rec makes up just a part of future maiden athletes

Startown doesn't have Football and Balls Creek and Sherrills Ford are all Bandys youth from my understanding. The Ducks feed all of Catawba County and some schools. If Maiden was smart they would invest in that rec program as should the Middle School your rec. should be running the same offense as should the Middle school program!! According to someone I know the rec doesn't even use the High Schools field only the middle schools field. So if you are going to have a successful feeder program your high school and middle school have to invest in the feeder program over at rec.

I

If they do you can say bye bye to your Rec. Program in Maiden because they (The Lab) would most likely take over all the athletics there.
The lab currently does flag football. And yes...the way the Maiden rec runs their children's sports...it's not built for winning. It's focused on teaching kids the fundamentals and making sure every kid plays...not just one play...but in football at least 10 plays. So as a coach there...making sure 20 kids play 10 plays each can be a stretch. It doesn't always work...but when I coached art the rec we made it work.

I attended a youth league game over at Saint Stephens 2 years ago with my sister who has a child in the cheer program not the best youth league football smh!! Very unorganized

I see what your saying...but year after year after year...those Maiden rec kids who can't beat anyone get to high school and don't lose to the schools around here.

Maiden's approach to rec sports isn't traditional...but the foundation set, works really well once they get to high school.

As for the middle school...the rec nor the high school has any control over what those coaches do. Them being in line with us fluctuates based off the coach.

I wasn't referring to flag, I was actually talking about tackle Football!! But when I went and watched my niece cheer at Maiden noticed alot of decrepencies in that youth league football league

Ok so....if the approach isn't traditional, what is the angle or approach especially if you are competing against the Laboratory or Lab?

I know what you meant...I was just saying they do have flag there...which still could pull kids away from rec that want to focus more on the "7 on 7" style play.

A lot of the old rec coaches are gone...the babying parents don't like little Johnny being made to listen. Don't know a lot of the new ones. But it's all parent coaches.

I don't know that there is one. I'd say the rec will still have plenty of kids for football bc not every parent will be able to afford the lab.

I say don't try to compete...just stay in your lane and just know football participants will take a dip.

I see what your saying!! And I will say this I actually drove to the Middle school thinking there were games that day but they were at the High School!! It was nice watching a game there and one of the biggest things I saw was the Football Coach actually on a Gator getting stuff for the field so the rec football team could have the whole experience which is nice!! Didn't see 1 not 1 rec person in charge other than the staff working to put stuff out!! Credit to the School for doing all that but man the rec needs to do more in that aspect!!

If the Lab ever goes full time with a rec. Sports program my niece is gone from there because it seems she and the other kids would get so much more from that Lab but hey it's just an opinion at the end of the day 😆🤣!
If the lab ever expands to tackle football it won't be a competition against the rec necessarily will be more of a competition against the Carolina duck program and travel football. The rec could lose more talented or competitive players but don't see them losing the base players

I could see that.

I could see that.
And that is where u would probably see a more cohesive approach to become more inline with maiden high school program. For a big reason the talent would probably be more capable of it. Not a lot of rec teams and kids that young can go out and play the spread offense. Lack of QB skills on avg at that level and line play. Snapping in shotgun can be iffy. And I'm assuming rec and youth leagues still have weight limits on skill positions (QB,RB,WR) in the past maiden has had talented RB's who at some point couldn't or wouldn't of been able to even play skill positions in that system.

I would kinda like an approach where all the kids learn wing T in rec. Then in middle school run wing T and start putting in spread offense. And JV spread offense with some wing T. And then varsity would be able to come out and run both offenses any given night, series or play. Would give opposing defenses nightmares

You have too teach them fundamentals first!! From what I saw at the only youth game watching my niece cheer there's a lack of fundamentals not an indictment of coaches or anything but the kids from what I have seen but from a few lack the fundamentals. My brother introduced me to a guy he's got a few kids one of which I think will be good for Maiden down the road.

My brother that is sorry didn't elaborate well
I don't know a lot of the younger kids I know I believe Kayla Farley has a nephew coming up through there or maybe middle school now. At one point Tommy Henry had a kid playing in the rec league. My nephew is at a middle school right now and if I can get him to Maiden I think he will be a good lineman on offense and defense. He plays with a mean streak and likes to bully and hit people.
