Bandys and Foard- time for Bandys to work the rust off

BH and Saint- may be a good game for 2 or 3 quarters but too much Bunker. BH by 21

EB and Freedom- a classic FAT FRIDAY that drew a crowd for close to 3 decades but not the same since 2 new schools. Freedom has owned it for 11 straight and looks to do it again. Upset slim but possible. Freedom by 14

Lincolnton and NL- upswing for Wolves, downyear for Bazzel n crew. Good border rivalry. Guessing this is Lincolntons to win after a losing streak to North going back to 17 or 18’ or whatever. Lincolnton by 10

Maiden and Watauga- expecting a good un’ in App country. Watauga well coached and brings it hard. But too much for them to overcome. Ought to be the matchup of the night. Maiden by 14

NC and WI- yawn’….anyway. JK. A test for both schools to show what they have without any embarrassment NC with the edge

WC and RSC- prob a sissy fight, don’t know anything bout either team but I’ll give RSC 14

WL and Cherryville- WL by 14 if the subs play the whole game. If not, WL with a running clock by middle of 3rd with who knows what. 2 teams that I’d imagine was close back in the day

Thanks for the encouragement, my friend. I know you kinda took North Lincoln in as an adopted team early in their history when they were losing and making their first playoff appearance with a team that had no seniors and mostly sophomores. Last time we beat them was 2017 along with West Lincoln but they both won in 18, 19, (no game in 20 due to health concerns) and twice in 21. It won't be easy for us. Lot of respect for Coach Bazzle, even though he is from Ǝɒƨt ⅃inɔoln. He will have them ready and use their loss to West Lincoln as a motivational tool.

Appreciare you Lincolnton seeing your posts over the years and having laughs back and forth. North had become my adopted team per say many years ago cause I had a niece and nephew go there, my nephew was an all conf soccer player. Sister was on the booster club til he graduated. Had some sports ties with them for a few years as well. I ought to have some likes toward Newton Conover being that my great uncle was NC middle school principal for years and years and had some cousins go there. All my in laws and my best man in my wedding were Freedom grads so I pull for them some unless they play EB. And I will be a Draughn parent when my litrle boys come of age. Go got alittle Draughn in me and ought to considering my dad and grand dad both as well as my uncle played ball at Valdese high. Ties and interest in a few schools other than good ole EB.

Should my boys make it that far if the Lord don’t come back first that’ll be a time that I’d have to turn my back on EB when they step out on the field. I imagine many parents do that ha ha.

Hope North and Lincolnton have a good safe game. YOU keep us posted on this game. Grizzly….YOU keep us posted on Watauga. Lots of family ties to Watauga I’ll be pulling for them on this one, sorry Grizz lol. Mom woulda went there if they built it 12 or 13 years earlier.

Bandys(0-1) vs Foard (0-1)
Bunker Hill (1-0) vs St. Stephens (1-0)
East Burke (1-0) at Freedom (0-1)
Lincolnton (0-1) vs North Lincoln (0-1)
Maiden (1-0) at Watauga (1-0)
Newton-Conover (0-1) vs West Iredell (0-1)
West Caldwell (0-1) vs R-S Central (0-1)
West Lincolnton (1-0) vs Cherryville (1-0)
Foard....Bandys is TERRIBLE!!!
BHHS...Sorry SS, you beat a really, really bad Bandys team
Freedom
Lincolnton...Always good to see NL lose AGAIN!!!
Maiden
NC...
RS C
WL

Foard.. looks like bandys might be worst that they ever been.. still puzzles why a new head coach of a bad team would bring ina strong personality assistant coach like helms ?? See issues in future.

Bunker Hill.. I just really ain't buying into st. Stephens
Freedom... Not to knowledgeable about Burke.
Lincolnton... I believe in them more than I do bazzle ability to adjust his offense to his players
Maiden. Don't think it will be as bad as last year.
NC but I would so love to see Newton lose and start their yearly implosion early. Still can't believe they kept coach this year so unlike Newton.
Rsc... Just because west Caldwell sucks as usual.
West... And I think they may try giving this Avery kid a few carries this game.. probably will go away from the high octane passing game...

I was gonna take Bandys…but good lord…Dad23 has them waaaay down…and he usually knows….I’ve seen Foard play…and they are physical…..sooo….I’ll take Foard.

Bunker Hill rolls!…hoping St. Stephens can keep young Bear RB Willis under control. Have mercy. He must be sump’em!

I’m taking Freedom….I’ve read they have a 250 lb bowling ball RB. That’s a load! East Burke will have their hands full! I do believe this game will be close though.

Lincolnton will secure my prediction that they will win a non conference game. Let’s go! Wolves…. it ain’t gonna be easy….but I know y’all can do it. 😉

I’m taking Maiden. Word of caution though. Messing with 4a teams ain’t easy!…especially Watauga…they’re ranked in the 30’s in the overall rankings in NC. That’s waaay above Maidens’ ranking. Just saying!. I remember going to 4a South Caldwell the first time and whipping their tails. They came to Maiden the following year and shocked us all by whipping our arses! This is gonna be one heck of a game…a nail biter! Grizz. Ugh!

Newton Conover rolls!…who is starting at QB?…anyone know?

I have West Caldwell winning a game…but not this one.😂
I’ll take the Hilltoppers.

West Lincoln rolls! Avery scored all their points last week…including a scooped fumble return for a TD. He is sump’em!

Good luck! Fellers.

Bandys(0-1) vs Foard (0-1)
Bandys cleans up their mistakes this week and their QB and WRs get better.
Bandys by 10.

Bunker Hill (1-0) vs St. Stephens (1-0)
Saint is feeling themselves...but the Bears are better and their offense will score at will.
Bunker Hill by 21.

East Burke (1-0) at Freedom (0-1)
East Burke is on the up and up...feel like this game could be close...I just don't see Freedom losing this one.
Freedom by 3.

Lincolnton (0-1) vs North Lincoln (0-1)
NL is too down to compete for more than 1 quarter. Lincolnton will be too physical.
Lincolnton by 21.

Maiden (1-0) at Watauga (1-0)
Really don't know how to predict the score here...we smoked 'em last year...but they were allegedly without a couple of their best players. Now we are headin' up the mountain to their stadium...the turf will be knew to most of our players. First and foremost hoping for a good game...let's let our speed win it and come home safe. Our defense proves it's worth while our offense continues to find itself versus stiffer competition.
Maiden by 18.

Newton-Conover (0-1) vs West Iredell (0-1)
Newton may have found something in the JV QB...the question is, are the coaches able to see it like the stat sheet does...West Iredell should be a non-issue for them later in the game...but you never know which Newton team will show up.
Newton by 14.

West Caldwell (0-1) vs R-S Central (0-1)
RSCentral had themselves a solid loss...the WC loss wasn't so bad either. RSC gets the win here though...I believe they'll out athlete WC.
RSC by 14.

West Lincolnton (1-0) vs Cherryville (1-0)
Maiden Creeks red-headed step-son Johnny keeps it rollin'
The State Champion Rebels by 35.

My retake. Guessing Saint ain’t as good as y’all first let on. Must be a horrible down year for Bandys. I still think they’ll play their hearts out against Hickory.

If the boys in dark blue can get off blocks and hit low, the “bowling ball” won’t be as damaging. I’m sure he’s good but he ain’t no Shatley. Still a winnnable game for EB. 11 game losing streak must come to an end, maybe Friday. Being it’s @Freedom I guess I feel less hopeful.

I don’t get how North Lincoln is so down when it’s still coach Bazzel at the helm and soild JV squad last year. Musta lost some star seniors??

OOOoooo ! Flyrod called West Lincoln, West Lincolnton. That'll fire them up. They probably hate everything Lincolnton, even though they have a Lincolnton address... And Hey ! North Lincoln has one too... WHAAAAAT LOL !

I like your optimism on East Burke. I’m hoping for an upset. I’m figuring Freedom to win that’s just the realist portion of me but things do happen and last year it was a 1 point victory for the Pats. I guess they had bowling ball TB last year too and it was still a 1 pointer. If the D shows up, we got this.

If they make an announcement in Lincolnton that EB is ahead. Give a country holler and get your crew to do the same. Show some Burke love even if it’s just for a couple seconds.

I’m still not feeling a Foard win. It’s Bandys, they wouldn’t know what to do with that if they were ahead. 40 some years of these 2 schools meeting and maybe 3 or 4 Foard wins. - I’m guessing, I’m prob close or on the money

Bunker Hill but may be closer than some people think
Freedom but freedom's defense gives up a few scores
Lincolnton they'll win by 3 scores
Maiden they'll want this game more
Newton-Conover that Rowe kid will have a great game
RS Central but both teams are looking for the future
West Lincoln but Cherryville has improved

I will say that Cherryville hanging a goose egg on Avery last week was surprising. I looked at last season and Avery had a terrible record but their offense scored points…bunch of ‘em…like 33 against McDowell for example. I saw Cherryville scrimmage Foard a couple weeks back and was surprised at their size for a 1a team. West Lincoln is usually smaller for a 2a juggernaut team like they have had over the last decade. Of course… they’re meaner than snake too!😂

Cherryville can match up with the Johnny’s…and this is an old rivalry game too….but West Lincoln is just too good!

Hoping this game will be closer than I think…I’d like to see Cherryville with a conference champion seed in 1a this fall.

Let’s go! Ironmen. 😉

Bandys-Foard could be the game of the week….perhaps OT or something close to it. 😉

Going to be fun to watch the season play out. Maiden looks to be the cream of the crop with a lot of talent and a really good coaching staff. A tough early-season matchup against Watauga should be fun to watch.

Bunker Hill's RB Willis Jr. had a big game in Week 1. Looking forward to seeing if he can repeat that this week against Saint. Saint's RB Gaither looked solid as well - so did their QB Peyton Young.

I don't think Bandys is as bad as some have said on this thread. Bandys was able to move the football pretty much the majority of the game. A couple of turnovers in the red zone changed the game. Down 14-6, Bandys was driving to tie the game. Got inside the 15-20 and a diving interception ended the drive. Bandys had another drive that got inside Saint's 5 before a turnover stopped that one too. So I don't think terrible is a good description.

FAT Friday is always a fun time. We'll see if East Burke can build on the Week 1 win. Freedom will certainly be looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Crest.

Excited to see how these teams grow and improve as the season goes along.

Good luck in Week 2!!

Good to see you back!😉
Yes sir! Busy spring and summer ... and it's only getting busier with the fall. But I enjoy doing what I do.

I got score updates and reports from last week's game, but how did Thompson look in his first game as a Blue Devil? Looking forward to getting to see him in person at some point this season.

He looks the part for sure….had a couple overthrows early on but settled in and made some beautiful passes for TD’s.
The one to young Stover was a perfect pass over the top of a defender and another to Culliver on a dead run….course he was wide open.

All in all…I thought it was good start…little rusty…timing a little off…but not bad! They’ll get there….hopefully this Friday night. We’ll need it.😉

Thought he looked good after settling down. But I feel like I still noticed he had dancing feet when people got around him could be a little leftover Shell shocked from last year I heard that he took a beating from a bad line

Have not hear anything but just to let you know EB only starts two Sr on offence and 4 on Defense a lot of Somp on the line. we have a tough schedule no easy games except Patton. Freedom has a good team Daughn has the best team it has had ever had and then Maiden to open the conf. if we can survive the first haft of the season might have a few games to win!!
Freedom is good and prob got more going on than last year and I keep hearing good things bout their big running back. I can’t see them going deep or past 2nd round espacially in the 3A but they’ll make some games happen around here. I can see them beating all conf foes except Watauga. Maybe AC. I hadn’t heard anything bout AC but they are usually the tough guys around here til they hit playoffs. I’m hopeful and tomm night is still a winnable game for EB if they play their cards right, mistake free ball, and captailize on any mistake Freedom may do. EB I hope will have a short passing game plan, long bombs downfield, forget bout it. They had a hard enough time with the few passes they tried on a weak Patton 2ndary. No breakaway plays last Friday against Patton so that’s suspect. Breakaway being our RBs broke past their LBs and past the 2ndary for a 30 or 40 yarder to the house. It’ll be even harder to do that against a more athletic Freedom.

Our boys was scrappy out there and made better tackles and more hits in the backfield as the game went on. Tomm night I’m hopeful they can do it again.

Draughn big victory over TJC, sounded huge considering just 2 or 3 years ago TJC was rocking it out and even beat a good North Lincoln team. They musta lost a lot to graduation. It works in Draughns favor that they are 1A which brings up the “why did they ever have to build Draughn and break up EB” when the numbers wasn’t huge like it was at Freedom. They needed Patton built yes. Draughn, well, I like it. Who needs crowds. But other people may think differently on that.

It’s a tough pick for me…I sentimentally pull for both teams.

The old ball coach…Brown…was at East Burke awhile….and Freedoms’ coach is a former Blue Devil….Justin Hawn.

Best of luck to both teams. 😉

Speaking of Thomas Jefferson…there’s some former Maiden coaches over there too. You’re right!…Draughn put a whipping on them!…I was surprised by the margin as well.
Draughn might have a little sump’em for that 1a bunch. We’ll see.

Let’s go! Baby Boom Devils!

I must say…I enjoyed going to the Maiden JV game last week…which I don’t do very often. There was a very good crowd…the visitors (Foard) had a good crowd too. Heck…Maiden ran out of hotdogs and hamburgers by halftime….everybody was eating French fries and nachos!😂

I was encouraged by the quality of team Maiden had on the field…good size on the line and some impressive RB’s too. Hope to see them again tonight against Watauga. Maiden lost a close one to them last year by the score 30-22….hoping we avenge that loss!

The experience made me feel a lot better about the future of Maiden after this great varsity team graduates. 😉

Imma get there early…make sure I get a hot dog!😂😂😂

Let’s Go! Boom Devils.

Think the NC vs. WI will be alot closer than most thinks. WI got alot talent in the 9th grade. Isaiah Peet 6'1 172 WR/FS. He alone could put 3-4 tds on NC easy. Just don't understand the coaching philosophy at WI. Definitely understand you want to play your seniors. But if your freshmen are bigger, better athletes. Why the hell are you forcing everything to your seniors? Hopefully they play their BEST ATHLETES this week regardless of grade level

well you gotta figure, if you do deep research on the golden years at EB, that being the 80s, bits and pieces of the 90s, and 2007(the BIG one) their tallent pool was mostly Drexel, Valdese kids. At least that’s what it appeared to be alot of times.

For the longest time Heritage was the middle school to beat, not sure how their seasons have been over the past 8 or 9 years I hadn’t kept up that well. But if they are good then it appears the tallent is coming together at Draughn. I pretty much have my favorite 1A team through them plus that’s were my boys will be going. But for now, it’s all big blue til they or if they suit up in a wildcat uniform years and years down the road….or the Lord don’t come back first.

Simmons has the Knights a 11pt favorite over Lincolnton. Is anyone willing to change their prediction based on Simmons?

That’s a hard call. One of the only basis on that is how good is West Lincoln and how good is South Point?

I know now from a very credible source of a fella that’s close to the NL community that they are and will be down this year. If they come out swinging and beat Lincolnton, then maybe last weeks game was bogus.
