CVAC 2022 - State Playoffs Round 3 BHHS at MHS

We need some intimidation factor for Friday night 🤣. We need to blast the music for "The bodies hit the floor" then have all the players and fans start screaming " The bears hit the floor" if we could get the whole home side and players doing this that would be intimidating 🤣🤣🤣

Everything so far has been cash at the gate
Ticket sales at gate. No electronic tickets. Pre sale tickets I’m guessing will start being sold on Tuesday at either school. No official word on pre sale yet. Oh and I don’t think there will be a shut off point either of tickets being sold. Maiden will welcome every patron that wants to come.

AMD, with Apple already there and Microsoft on the way, which will open the doors for semiconductor companies like Intel or AMD (no pun meant), making Maiden the Silicon Valley of the east coast, you have to learn to be at least something of a gentleman.

Blaring music, the crowd yelling hit the floor, and you out there screaming at your guests with slobber in your beard and you all wild-eyed. If there are visitors, Friday night, from these Fortune 500 companies, you'll scare them away. They might go back to California and say they hate Bears, for some reason, then they'd take their businesses to Claremont. Man, that'd be a change in the weather over that way.

These big company Execs are fascinated with small town people and who knows, you might be a comptroller or something else really big. You'd have more money than you'd know what to do with.

LOL, I can just see you now, off from work, cruising the Main drag in a Fendi warmup suit, a Harry Winston diamond cluster pinky ring and a usekh collar, driving a Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum with a bumper sticker that reads "If you ain't a hemorrhoid get off my assets". When you passed by, everybody uptown would mumble "damn", at the same time.

Hey, If you want to play some music for them play something that will lull them into a false sense of security, then they'll come out flat:

Oh, and hey ! He gets an all expenses paid trip to Beverly Hills once a year to a grooming parlor where they'll give him a manicure and a comprehensive coif. Then as he's leaving they'll bring in some ladies to sing to him "Ohhhh, you got a nice beard, nice beard, nice beard you really caught my eye Sharona ! "

You think Microsoft could spare little change for that blue turf with white blue checker end zone that I have had my eye on for a while 🤣
You being one of their top people could get it done pretty easy. 25 million dollars is a tax write off for them. The New Tom Brown would be a tourist attraction like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. A great big picture of you would be put on the press box, like Mao Tse-Tung's picture at the Gate of Heavenly Peace.

Maiden gave up 30 plus points to Polk...What is your point? CSD is way better than Polk
Some of that was trash time scores. And a couple screwed up coverage on trick plays. But Polk county was also the top offense in their conference and a shrine bowl running back that was held to less than 100 yards rushing.

I think Maiden has improved since last game vs bunker Hill and bunker Hill gave up 40 points to Community School of Davidson which surprised me. I'll take Maiden by 2 TDs
Surprised you? We have averaged 50 points a game all year… give us our starting RB and our star WR/OLB along with a dry field and we put up 60 against BH. It was a great game but our K missed two PAT’s which hasn’t happened all year and you take into account that and the missed 25 yard FG and we win by 4. Not making excuses but let’s not pretend that it was shocking that BH let up 40 against a team that has top of the state numbers all year on offense. BH is very one dimensional. You stop #5 and you win.

One dimensional works. See Wallace-Rose Hill (Javonte Williams) and Tarboro (Todd Gurley).

This was an excellent game to see in person. All fans and staff of CSD were top notch - really enjoyed it!! Kind of disappointed in the fan turnout however...great team like that deserves top notch hollerin'. You have gained a fan for life!!

That being said....Excuses go both ways...you saw a 1-dimensional BH team because they could not pass. Four very uncharacteristic interceptions on underthrown balls, purely because of the rain. They are not a 1-dimensional team. If you got your wish of no rain...BH would have scored damn near twice as much...the fact they couldn't get their WRs involved benefitted CSD immensely. You wanna talk 1-dimensional...see CSD in the dictionary next to the word (but that's not a problem for CSD because they are an excellent passing team). What I'm getting at is...the rain made BH 1-dimensional...you got to see half the offense and the other half gave you 4 INTs.

I was amazed at how well the CSD QB passed in the rain...those drip drops didn't slow him down a bit.

All in all...no rain and both teams with all their starters on a 70 degree beautiful windless night??? I believe Bunker Hill wins the game 70-63 in an all time WNC shootout.

Bunker would have scored 80 in a dry game … y’all couldn’t stop Willis when you knew we were going to feed him all night

Hope you realize #5 has been out most of the year and won games without him … now with him he opens our offense up even more

Thanks LHSfaninVA, I have no doubt you know about such things and I'm certainly not qualified to take issue with what you'd know. Unfortunately, I still have the imagination of a kid. Give me a few more years and I'll probably have the complete mentality and temperament of one.

Most of us, around here, might wonder how could "Maiden" ever compete with these huge metropolitan areas you mentioned. When I think of DC The U.S Government comes to mind, Boston, I think of Harvard and brilliant students, Raleigh-Durham with NC State, Duke and Carolina and Research Triangle Park. All these places have the roads, population and workforce along with the other amenities to accommodate and sustain this type of business.

Just wondered if it isn't possible, though, paradoxically speaking, that Maiden has enough to maybe compete with these other areas or is off to a good start. It's at least, a de facto part of the Charlotte metropolitan area which claims the second largest banking center on the east coast behind New York and similar to San Francisco. There is a fairly large and diverse work force within driving distance, Maiden is easily accessible to an international airport and centrally located between to interstates carrying traffic in all four directions and there is undeveloped land for expansion and housing. North Carolina has a right to work law unlike Boston and DC, and Raleigh-Durham has what I'd think of as considerable northern influence along with Wake County which was and probably still is the wealthiest county in this state. Point being, there is that possibility of cheaper labor and less union concerns, at least initially. I think Catawba County would do all it could to provide the necessary infrastructure and utilities, along with lower taxes.

Where this area would fall short as opposed to the others is the lack of prestigious universities. Some years back I read that the progeny for the high tech industry came out of Stanford University's school of engineering. It's been a long time since I saw this but it wouldn't surprise me if that is correct.
The only large four year institution in this area is UNCC which I've also heard has surpassed UNC Chapel Hill, recently, in overall enrollment. In NO WAY am I trying to compare UNCC to Stanford or Chapel Hill, but it does have a school of engineering and other technical studies, and with proper funding, someday, it could possibly help to meet the needs and provisions of something requiring the skills and thought that high tech would require. On top of that, for the higher paying jobs, for someone coming to the area moving shouldn't have a lot of effect.

Frankly, I believe we have many smart people in this area that could handle most kinds of jobs in that industry, given the opportunity (hey, we might get you to come back home) , and even people with the training for very skilled work. I mentioned infrastructure, utilities and future development for facilities and housing, one of the people we post with on here, I'm thinking, is an engineer. I don't want to say his name so as not to embarrass him, but it rhymes with GrizzlyLevel. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that.
Saying Maiden could be the new Silicon Valley may sound far fetched and said in a lighthearted way, but strangely enough, I believe it's reasonably possible.

You remember Coach Harris, I had a bet with him once. We were at the Block Smith gymnasium on East Rhodes Street, the bet was he could not hit a half-court shot in three try's. The very first one was nothing but net. It was a two-handed set shot. at his age I couldn't believe it. He was very gracious. He called me a sucker and told me "You cannot beat a man at his own game", and that I should have known since he had made the bet.
So, Before you write me off let me repeat my disclaimer of knowing less than you and having a big imagination, but hey, doesn't bizarre thought kind of fit in with that field.

Postscript: Have a set of 1962 encyclopedias. When they were published Cupertino was similar in size to Maiden, back then. Maybe it's the little blue dot's time. Just a passing thought. 😊

Side note: You mentioned having been there, I assume it was to Apple Headquarters. That would be something to see. In photos it looks surreal. It looks like the mothership or the Pentagon with all 90 degree angles smoothed out. I think if I weren't afraid to fly I'd go see it.
