Conference play begins this week in the Southeastern Athletic conf aka SAC-7.Clinton welcomes the West Bladen Knights to Darkhorse Stadium for our 3rd home game of the season and conference opener. Last season Clinton defeated the Knights by a 49-16 score. West is coming off their first victory of the season with a 23-0 win over East Columbus, Clinton defeated Northside-Jax 33-12 in a game they actually trailed in at halftime.
For West Bladen they been alil banged up according to article in Bladen Journal Coach Stanley Williams said they got some of those guys back last week for the East Columbus game. I did watch a bit of their game vs South Brunswick team looked like they had decent size im guessing just youth and a lack of athletes is the issue. #2 Tyderick Stewart seems to be the go to leads the team in rushing and receiving in addition to having to play defense. They play a freshmen at QB Hunter Hester not sure if that’s due to injury. Overall definitely a team that is in building mode but seems to be headed in right direction yes only 3-6 a year ago but those 3 wins were as many as the program had in the last 3 years combined.
For Clinton last week had to work alil bit harder then expected for that win I do like the resiliency tho. Think over the next 3-4 games would be a good time really establish your identity offensively as we seem to be up and down on that side of the ball and you can’t continue to rely on the defense to bail you out. Next 4 opponents combined record is 3-9. If it’s a time to get your offense rhythm now is that time also a chance to heal up a bit and get some others playing time. Not much debate in this one I believe Clinton rolls easily to 4th win of season.
Other SAC-7 conference games
