Eastern Randolph has 3 high caliber division one recruits. They were in my top 10 before the season. You guys don’t know much about them, but 3 division one guys is tough for any 2 a school to go against

Your game was by far the best!! I watched the overtimes on NFHS Network. I wasn't even watching ours lol. That was an awesome game.
Darkhorse04 a big thumbs-up. You guys did a fine job. You kept your listeners aware of the clock, the ball, direction, gave due credit and made it easy to get an image of what was happening. Definitely experienced.

ER started out I think ranked around 10th on this here board's 2A rankings...
After starting 4-0, in pretty impressive fashion, they had fallen to 19th I believe...
After only loss I heard they are like 25th in last poll...
Wasn't nothing special in a lot of people's eyes...

Yeah and, nobody from Clinton, but a couple of posters had them having a bye in first round playing ER. Planned meetups and dinners and such. And I can almost guarantee I'm neither dumb or stupid...
Seen the ER team last year in the playoffs and was impressed. Serious athletes
Congrats to ER. Undefeated regular season, conference champ, one and done this year for Clinton. Man, thats tough.

I wasn't impressed with Clinton's d against WRH. Not trying to blow smoke but 2 plays and a lightning delay and my dogs could have beat Clinton. I wanted to pick ER but thought adjustments,home field is why I picked Clinton.
I picked them too because of home field...
My friends who went to game blew my phone up afterward...

It was the longest 5 min of regulation I have ever seen in football, ever! Heck the game started at 7:00 and wasn't over until after 10:15!
dogs79; Horses only gave up 27 points again in regulation just like last week.(holding both teams well below their average-) what do you expect a shutout in the playoffs? Against a good playoff team (ER was no Red Springs nor Kinston nor SWO) this was essentially a second round game. The defense played well enough to win. ER Randoph's defense was a bit tougher, the toughest Clinton's played all year. ER is also well coached. They scouted us very well. I was proud of the DarkHorse defense tonight. You're not going to shut a team like ER down. They're going to score. Their receiver #5 thats been signed to Tennessee; he's there real deal. I would say the best player we've faced all year, maybe a couple seasons.

You probably are aware, but eastern Randolph was a really good 3a team in the 2000’s.
I always respect your opinion but I assume Clinton's d couldn't get pressure on ER's backfield and only good cover is #8. I didn't see anyone stand out on d except him.
Going into this 1st round games (actually a 2nd round) had had a distinct feeling one of the top seeded teams were going to lose. I didnt think it would be Reidsville but I sure hoped it wouldn't be our DarkHorses. Hate we lost but it was a good ride and DarkHorse football.

Yes tonight's loss was disappointing but I had my son as my guest tonight. He was on the 2005 team that beat you guys in the state championship. *Tough first round loss for Clinton. I know the Wizard is sad, but he knows more wins are on the way. Nobody loves the Darkhorses and hard-nose eastern North Carolina football more that he does, except maybe Darkhorse#34, (very classy poster).

Eastern Randolph is a good team, vey well coached. They had a great game plan. We did too but they executed their game plan better than we did. Still proud of the DarKofrses and wish the ER Wildcat alot of luck next week. Elizabeth City is a hike from here, its a looooong road trip from ER.

you're wrong about that little school description; Clinton. is a small 2A school and has produced many d1 college players, in fact the DarkHorses have 3 players that started at running back in the NFL so wont give me that little school 2A cant compete. Thats pure B/S Ask ER's #8 thats going to Tennessee how well/or cClinton competed against him or his team

We're definitely blessed to have the DarkHorse network doing football and basketball games. I dont hear much of the football games because I'm there but follow their basketball coverage (Ron is the coach) and Jonathan is the color guy to coach Sawvel's play by play. Their coverage is as good as any college game coverage. They''ll even respond to text!
That's one tough loss Wiz, we went thru an agonizing defeat at the hands of Wrh and Javonte. It hurt so bad I couldn't stop thinking about it for over a week. That's the truth,it hurt me bad. I can only imagine what your feeling now, I watched the end of that game and completely forgot our game. Best high school game I've seen since we played Wrh in Elizabeth City. I hate that someone had to lose.
We are playing good Wiz, I know many don't believe me but It's an honest statement from me. Our kids will be ready for the challenge and hopefully we'll come out with a win. There were coaches from NC State, Hampton,App State, Western Carolina,and West Virginia on the sidelines tonight and Freshwater put on a show.
It was tough daagoob ( my computer keep wanting to give you another name, pardon the typos) ; I hate it for the players who had one heck of a season, but not but one team finishes winning and the DarkHorses gave it one hell of a shot. I'm glad it was streamed and broadcast so so many could share in it.
Hey, I'm a fan and next week I will be tuning in, with a number of windows opened with some games to follow. I'll watch you guys and ER as well as WRH and Reidsville ; I may have the two western games opened as well! The crowd at the game this week and last week wasn't as large as in pre-pandemic seasons, but you could sense alot of folks had the ability to tune in one way or another and share the experience. I've seen alot of DarkHors winning. The lost doesn't sting as much as it may have 20 years ago, but Im proud of. this team, they lived up to the standards of the DarkHorse tradition and as a fan that's all you can ask for. I'll leave it like this ER is a. very good team *I reckon they'll be without their starting qb as he was ejected for fighting, but #2 aint bad; he slugged one about 50 yards perfect through to a covered receiver. NE will have there hands full. I think NE will win but I thought the Horses would too. Hats off to Clinton. It’s cliche-ish to say it’s a shame either team had to lose, but it is. Smith is one heckuva a rb, that one run in the third was something. Just a great high school football game.
@dogs79 you hit the nail on the head about thr defense. Struggled all season against quality run games. Dont get me wrong by no means were they terrible but just not as stout as we are use to seeing. Part of that being #24 J. Wilson goes down 2nd game of the season then #55 who also played DE i believe gets hurt the next game. Offense which was more balanced and versatile hid alot of that for most the season but in a game like this when you just need one stop we couldnt get it. But not taking nothing away from Eastern Randolph that is a darn good football team if NE is looking ahead to a rematch with Reidsville they better slow down. Those Wildcats are nothing to play with.
Clinton seniors....it has been a absolute pleasure watching you fellas grow these last 4 years. Definitely not the story book ending we all wanted but i said this many times your impact goes alot further than the final score on that scoreboard. Thank you for carrying on our tradition and good luck in all future endeavors. Looking forward to continuing to follow your careers with great interest. And for the last time ER will not lose starting QB for next week. The young man who got ejected has been the backup all year.
Burton Cates was DC on that 83 team. Became HC in 84. Left in 2008 to go to Lee County. After nine years came back to ER as HC. His son Foster is AD/OC for ER.
