Cleveland County

Well, that’s good, and Crest had some great players, but…..

This season, the high school football program that put Crest, Burns, and Kings Mountain on the map is……still alive.
And while y’all defeat us from time to time, Shelby keeps winning.
As we said before, Shelby football gives you the platform to start and endure with a thread titled “ Cleveland County”. To your, credit, you have acknowledge as much.
We doubt you will allow this thread to end, even with Crest’s elimination. And you shouldn’t.
Carry it on into next season. It’s a great forum for those of us fortunate to be high school football fans in this area.
Rest assured, we will always be here to remind you that the remarkable sustained success began with the Golden Lions, remained with the Golden Lions, and, as again this year, usually ends with the Golden Lions.

How you feel about Shelby's changes against Reidsville?

How you feel about Shelby's changes against Reidsville?

It will be tough without Tate.
But no excuses, injuries are part of the game.
Shelby will have to play very well
Reidsville is an excellent team.

But their program is not the capitol (sic) of anything.
A bogus name they gave themselves that does not withstand light scrutiny.
They were absent from even an appearance in a Championship game for 31 consecutive recent years in the last 50 years.

Shelby does not claim to be the “Capital”.
That is for others to decide.
But we know Reidsville is not.

We are “ The True Dynasty” by definition and historical fact. Not opinion.

Shelby is the most successful, sustained, winningest high school football program in North Carolina history.

Hey all

Im jacked up on the zzquils and ozempic at the moment lol

BUT

We have to keep this thread going from now on bottom line... I hate it for our pals from Crest, and we may join yall next week on the couch but this thread MUST continue

Best thread at Preps in years..... so keep it going gents..... What a fun time all year.... We go at each others throats week after week but at the end of the day we got each others backs..,,

Cracking Up Lol GIF by Rodney Dangerfield

OK OK So I took a swan dive backerds off the top step in our bay at the PD..... But did you notice the grace and agility of lovingly sitting the 3 grand piece of radio equipment atop the box to keep from me either landing on it, or shattering it whilst in mid dive? Maybe I need to post that here LOL

landed flat backed on the nice concrete bay floor, and turtled for a good 30 seconds before acting like nothing happened

Graceful as an overweight 10 minute old giraffe.... Im telling you..
Cootie cutters and stairs are a lethal combination for a big man. Quit wearing ‘em.

Now had that been a 3 piece KFC snak pack you were carrying?….I could see you laying there on the floor skinning a piece of that chicken to the bone…while yelling….3 second rule! 😉

Go! Shelby!

Only time will tell😂 returns entire o line and rb… and return about 8 on defense..also had a undefeated JV squad
Sounds good for another 4th round run, maybe 5th, maybe Crest and Dudley will turn into a type of rivalry like Crest Northern Guilford series... unless South Point has something to say about it

From the looks of things both Crest and Shelby will come back stronger next season. Which will be interesting to see how both these teams perform next year.

Yeah VIK

I think we return all on offense except Bridges, Hollifield and the Center.... Offense should be very good, not sure on defense I know we lose 3 (lb) 77 and 51 both on the interior line.... Thompson and Collins should fill the receiver spots and Morgan at center all capable and very good as youngsters already

Should be another decent season for CC clubs

You should petition to play down. Then you could roll into bessemer city. And get the respect. You so desperately desire.

I don't wish that on anyone. The original conference we were in when joining 2A was so much better than we knew at the time. One more year of this crap.

I think we'll need that conference next year. LOL. I think we'll be better than most people think, but I don't see us going deep in the playoffs. It really all depends on the QB play and who we choose for the QB position. Do we play a senior who hasn't played QB since middle school? Or do we play a sophomore and let him get his lumps to prepare him for his Junior and Senior year? I'd choose to play the sophomore. But I trust Devine to do what's right for the program.

Crest only about 75-100 kids away from joining your 2a conference..Pinnacle,TJ and High School at College are slowly spreading the kids out..

Wonder if the next realignment goes 7 or 8 classes we could see all 4 county teams in different classes.
Someone at work mentioned that last week. I think early projections I saw had it that way. It may have changed but it had Shelby remaining 2A, Burns moving to 3A, Crest at 4A and KM was on the bubble for 4/5A. It could happen. I don't care if our conference after next year is a gauntlet just get us away from these 1A schools. It benefits nobody. It may benefit us next year depending on the QB to get some things figured out but our first 3 games benefit us much more along with ending it with Shelby,

If there are only 6 classes, Shelby will still be 2A. Burns and Crest will be 4A (Burns would probably be 3A though, I just don't know the non-football schools) and KM would be 5A. So that puts each school in a different class. The problem with 6 classes, is while 1A-5A is close in enrollment numbers, the 6A would go from approximately 1700 kids to 3600 kids. That's a huge difference. They either have to go to 7 classes or subdivide like years past.

I've always thought N.C should go to 6 classifications. 1A would consist of 10% as would 6A. The other four classifications would be split @ 20% each.

That seems legit. That would leave 40 schools in 1A and 6A. How many make the playoffs? Could probably do 24 with some byes in there. You can't do 32 teams make the playoffs out of 40. Those first round games would be god awful.

Correct, less teams in the lowest and highest classifications would get less playoff berths. I'd say only 16 in each 1A and 6A with that recommendation. It's better odds to make the playoffs than they're facing now.

Well, it makes sense, so they won't do it.

On a side note, they have finally torn down the press box at Burns and we'll finally get a facelift that we've been needing for a while. Does anyone have drawings on what the new and improved one will look like?
