It was a 3 way tie at the end of the season Crest didn’t make the playoffs. They killed RS in the reg season, RS beat Shelby and Shelby beat crest.
Might be a game for the ages...never know when those Cleveland County teams square up. Wish I could attend but I'm gonnna say Burns in a close one.

Waddell ended up leaving RS and playing at East... he’s the QB at Davidson now.

RS had 2 defeats and Crest Middle had 1. The Crest Middle/Shelby Middle game also ended with a touch of controversy. Typical Crest/Shelby match-up.

2019 was a good year, we made a great run. But 2022 defense makes it a better team.

Agreed! Very good! Burns smacked up some great teams that year in the playoffs, before losing to Shelby again. East Lincoln, Hibriten, and North Lincoln, those were some good wins for Burns, and y’all were road warriors in doing so.

Watauga ran all over burns for the first two quarters then ran out of gas.. Yes I watched it... You all can spout how great the defense is but you are kidding yourself.. they are good, not great...
we ran all over Crest for two quarters till we ran out of gas... There aint any Hoppers or Hamricks running on the field, just a fact of life... we are NOT as good defensively as we were...

We both have been beating up on the worst teams in 1a ball for weeks, we BOTH have no clue how good or bad we are.... Burns is weak on the offensive line dont care who thinks otherwise, they have NOT gotten better at tackle and that will cost them eventually maybe even friday night
Shelby is way weaker in the defense that we should be, here we are weeks and weeks into the season and still cant tackle...
This one will either be a low scoring affair or a 55-53 game.. .I forsee Ryan Thompson catching running, receiving all over our defense friday night... He is the best overall player in the county and if anyone says otherwise they are wrong.. He does it ALL.... Both teams will have to play perfect ball to win the game... No silly penalties, no turnovers, whomever does it better will win.... I still think we see each other again in the playoffs....

Agree with everything you said. But Watauga running all over us doesn't bother me much. South Point runs all over people and they're one dimensional. Watauga is a good team with a great coach. They know what they can do, and they do it well. Burns adjusted in the 2nd half. Don't give me the, "they ran out of gas" thing. We only have about 30 players on varsity too. I'm sure we were just as tired.
Looking forward to Friday. Hope it's another Cleveland County Classic.
