Burns hosts Shelby

In life, I'm a pretty optimistic person. In sports I'm more of a realist. Some would say I'm pessimistic. In saying that, I don't feel confident in this game. The schedule hasn't done either team any favors leading up to this game. So who knows how each team will react to playing a very good opponent. I for one, have not written off Shelby at any point this year. I've seen this story too many times. I think our pass defense is really good and up to the challenge. The key for us is our offensive line. That's how KM beat us down, with their great defensive line. I know that Shelby has nowhere near the line that KM has, but I would bet without seeing them, that they're probably the 3rd best defensive line we've seen this year. That will be our key. If we can win that matchup, I like our chances. But I think Shelby is the favorite.
After PLAYING a soft SCHEDULE for the last few weeks, the TEAM that can remember how to PLAY TACKLE FOOTBALL the fastest will win.

What if Shelby really is down and your unable to tell, because of their conference schedule. Played good teams first 4 and didn’t fare so well 🤷‍♀️. It’s okay to have down a down year
I agree some what with what you say. But a blocked extra point keep us out of OT with the number 1 team in 3a, AC Reynolds is really really good, our 4th game we beat Hibriten and did score 57 and there was the game at Crest. Bottom line we all find out this Friday against a very good Burns team.

I think the dogs will just be happy to take the field against this absolutely reloaded Shelby team in 2022. How dare anyone ever say that the Shelby golden lions have a slightly down year?

Nothing personal Burns, we just have a good amount of respect for each other. I actually have a great deal of respect for all Cleveland Co. teams, but we only play one of them. So Shelby gets the nod this week! And yea that claim to the 2a title would be great! 🤣😁🤣
Y’all should just be happy that Shelby was down this year(6th in 2A instead of 1st).

Same goes to AC from the Shelby faithful. Win or loose I hope this series goes on for along time.

I was thinking that you must talk with a lisp, and just made a mistake spelling it like you probably say it. It happens to us all sometime, my guy. No big deal.

Shelby down this year? Compared to what? Top 3A and 4A Teams? Shelby is one of the top 10 Teams in 2A, period. Burns too.

See here is the thing, Shelby is good or better year in and year out. Nobody has said they suck. Their offense can score with anybody. But if you honestly feel like their defense is the same caliber it’s been for the last 6-8 years, then you’re crazy. They are still good, but they are not what they have been. From talking to a player himself that admitted it as well. They are missing that leader on the field out there. Maybe the sidelines too

You are exactly right. Shelby lost two D1 caliber players from their front seven. More than that they lost Hamrick’s leadership which is huge. No one has really stepped into that role in my opinion.

Shutdown…this is my point exactly. Talent is there….but when you don’t get lined up, when you don’t have someone out there that’s the QB/Point Guard it makes a massive difference. But nah it don’t matter cause we been smoking everyone 60+ to nothing.

I would only say they have a shot because everybody else in 2A sucks. They're all shells for their former selves. ALL of them. Only Burns and Monroe have shown signs of being dominant over a QUALITY opponent, even though they both suck a little bit.

Dang Chopper

Did you get some Pot Roast stuck in your false teeth at Sunday Lunch at the care facility or something this afternoon? Awful salty talk .... Maybe an extra puddin cup before lights out will lighten your mood, or perhaps a visit from bessie, with her teeth still in a jar in her room

Your pal,
Shelby Lion

They're self cleaning with a 10 year warranty. You're jealous you can't get the dip stains off of yours.

Turnovers, special teams will play big roll fri night.
This past fri, even though it was EG I saw a spark in the defensive front.
Jaden Pierce aka Big baby had great night, and few of the others.
Burns offensive line really struggles at times in KM game they just got manhandled and pushed back into QB.
Shelby will need to come out and run ball, make Burns D play honest.
Shelby on Defense will need to jam off line.
Shelby by 10, I think we get few stops more then Burns and a turnover.

In years past, we have played Shelby very well defensively. Only giving up 16, 20 and 26 points the last 3 years. Unfortunately for us, we had trouble scoring those years. Defensively, we are a very good team with an offense that is better than those same years. I'm trying to talk myself into being optimistic about this game. Someone help me out.

The key to this game is Burns ability to RUN the ball. If Burns is successful running the ball than their percentage of winning goes up drastically. I think Burns wins this game 35-28 or something like that. I believe Burns best 22 is better than Shelby’s best 22 although I believe that Shelby has better quality depth than Burns if it comes to that.

You only have to score 1 more point than the opponent to win.

Daylin and co. have had 9 games now to work on the offense with each other. I said preseason that last year it was our defense that took us to a title and this year it will be our offense. I stand by that. We only have to score one more point than Burns. I am fine with our defense giving up 28 points as long as our offense does it's thing and puts up 29. We should score at least 35 against Burns. If they can score 36 on our defense then so be it.

If Shelby plays like they know how....they win going away. If the 3rd and 4th quarter of the Crest game creeps back up......well, I just don't know.

Burns has a better back 7, defensively, than Shelby. Shelby’s offense is better, period, in my opinion, and don’t underestimate Bricen Kee at runningback. He often doesn’t get his due in Shelby’s pass happy offense, but that kid is a heckuva back, and if he breaks, he’s gone. Shelby definitely missed him against KM,. Bridges is a special talent, and will be the best player on the field, in my opinion. Hamilton is a shrine bowler at receiver.

Obviously, Burns counters with Haynes, Allen, Thompson, and Norris to name a few. A few of those players play both ways, though. Could become a factor as the games progresses.

Let's be honest, David was DC at Shelby and knows exactly what we run, Shelby coaches need to throw some different looks in there.
I still belive its high scoring game..imo

Have not seen anyone menton the kicking game. Shelbys kicker kicks most of his kickoffs in the end one. This is a big advantage playing a team like Burns with athletes. Also he has 50 plus yard range on field goals.

We have a depth chart for kicker. Last week we had our QB, WR, and S kicking PAT’s. All of them combined can boot into the end zone…maybe. I don’t think it’ll be a problem if they want to try and boot a few next week either. The only teams Shelby has played that’s had any type of scoring ability have hung numbers on them! Shelby is going to score, yes. Like somebody said above, Devine knows how to stop them. This years offense is the most well rounded of those last few years. Supper club, last years state dub, plenty of depth to sub…It don’t matter cause it’s dogs by a million!
