Brevard vs. Reidsville

I'm so old I remember going to first ever Reidsville/Brevard game in 1960 (I was 10).....Blue Devils won over RSH 39-6.....Brevard finished 13-0 and was state champ......the game was actually played in Asheville.....anyone else on this site even remember this??

Brevard didn't even run through their weak conference and lost to Pisgah who was blown out by N. Lincoln....sorry, as in the case of the Newton-Conver game, expect a Reidsville blowout. Running clock in second half again. People just fail to realize how powerful the Reidsville machine is. They will win the state title again. . . . .

The good folks from East Surry realize how powerful they are. They still laugh about it.

brother that is amazing!!!! NO I do not remember because that was 18 years before I was even born:). I love to travel and watch lots of different high school games and hopefully one day I can ask the same question about a game and some young guy will look at the post in awe as I have done.

I know a few people who actually seen it in person said brevard had a heck of a team that year. As for this year as I stated before I see a 35-10 type rams win tis brevard team is a year ahead of schedule. I could care less that Reidsville lost to East Surry last I looked east isn’t playing 2a. I taught before year that Reidsville would win small and Shelby would win big I’ve seen nothing that has changed my mind.

Hey ram bbq didn’t brevard and reidsville tie in 63 for the region two title? If I’m not mistaken after 60 they went to a region one and two type championship and they tied I believe

And of course we remember the 1970 Reidsville 14-6 win at Brevard in state semis. Reidsville beat Pisgah for title the next week.

yeah I was that game too...played in Asheville Nov. 23rd, 1963 the day after JFK was murdered....I was 13.....that game was also played in Asheville......0-0 tie.....Brevard never really threatened...Reidsville fumbled on the Brevard 2 yd. line in the 4th qtr......those days there was no OT so they were co-champs.....Reidsville also played the Blue Devils in 1970 (in Brevard this time)....Rams won 14-6 then beat Pisgah the next week 10-7 in title game........Reidsville has played Brevard again in 2006 in Reidsville....Rams won 30-14 and in Reidsville last year in the game that was a real war...Reidsville winning 24-21.........................there's your history lesson for the day.....lol.............

Wonder what Massey had for Mallard Creek last week?

Well, if Vance had a 14% chance of winning, I would take a wild guess that Massey had Mallard Creek with a 86% chance of winning.;)
Reidsville has played in 16 of the last 18 Black Friday games. Practicing on Thanksgiving day is a mark of HS Football Royalty.

Well, Kant, looks like you won't make any Rams games soon since your Grimsley team is still ripping. Quite an achievement. Good luck rest of the way!!

Can’t make game Friday you all know any way to buy ram merchandise w/o going to game? If we’re fortunate to win and have to travel need to be prepared for weather

Random question but has Reidsville always been in the west region? They've got to be close to whatever border the NCHSAA uses. I noticed Randleman is in the east this year.

Comment from Brevard coach Craig Pritchett (credit Transylvania Times):
"Reidsville has a great team and our kids are excited. We get another chance to go on the road and go against one of the best teams in the state. Hopefully, we can make a name for ourselves to get us back in that conversation as one of the top teams. We get to go back to work and we get to practice on Thanksgiving again. It's an exciting time."

I dont fail to relize it. I've seen the Rams beat my team the last 3 years in the playoffs. Last 2 years both games were good clean hard fought games. The Rams don't have any weakness as good as there Offence is to me the Rams defence is what makes them so hard to beat, also the Rams hardly ever beat them self's with Penalities and turnovers. If that's not enough to overcome the Rams have one of the very best coaches in the state.
I think the Rams offence is better than the last couple years , and that's scary. The Rams defence might be down alittle from last couple years , but I'm just basing that off the East Surry game . The good thing for Reidsville is they want face nobody close to having the passing game that Cards have.
Now for this week's game. The only change Brevard has is to keep Reidsville offence off the field and hope for some turnovers . Brevard has a great defence but if they can't get to the QB it's going to be a long night for the Blue Devil's. Good luck to both teams. Also I'm pretty sure anybody that keeps up with 2a football knows if your going to win the championship you got to beat Reidsville. That's just how it is. The only posters that I've noticed that sometimes disrespect the Rams are some of Shelby's fans , but I think that's just to get under the Rams fans skin, and any of us fans got to at least act like we can beat the Rams ever if we probably know we're going to lose because if your teams fans don't show confidence , your team for sure want..

Mule, aka Major Hoople of High School Football, thanks for the Whirlie well wishes. O! How long we have suffered. I am sure to see the Rams play once more this year and am hoping that we both make to the State Championship(s).

You know me ... gotta love those 2-A football towns like Brevard, Reidsville, Shelby, Clinton, Randleman and Salisbury ... you know the schools that are the city names ... no compass point schools that are easily confused.
