#4 Northeastern vs #1 Kinston

Grassy area

I've seen it. While technically, its not illegal since they aren't on the field of play, it's freaking annoying and dangerous. I personally think that no one should be allowed inside the track, if there is one, or inside the fence, if there is no track. I'm with you.... Back the freak up! But I don't think its illegal since they aren't on the field.

Every flag was warranted, 100 percent. Have watched the "phantom" hold on the touchdown. #58 beats your tackle outside, tackle grabs him by the jersey, with the man clearly outside of him, preventing him from making the tackle. Ref was right there and the flag was thrown.

BigBuie, please explain the grounding call? I guess he was still in the pocket even though our coaches could have tackled him.

What about the Kinston guy kicking our player? Isn't that an automatic ejection? Or you didn't see that since no flag was thrown??

So in your opinion, NE was just an undisciplined team and Kinston was razor sharp?

Missed calls don't really bother me...it happens. But when calls go against a team almost 2 to 1, in the 2nd half, I have a huge problem with that. The high school association should send out some officiating bigwig to sit in the press box when it gets to the 3rd round of each game. Or do they do that already?

What about the block kick they picked up the flag big buie did you see that for Ruffin the kicker the would have gave northeastern a first down and the game but you did not see that

To me that is a tricky call James. Once he kicked it, he was hit, THEN the ball was blocked at the line....bang bang play....I can't say whether that was the right call or not? But we should have blocked upfront better...that was OUR fault. The dropped interception when our guys fought for the ball could have sealed it..once again OUR fault. The missed extra point...same. Three true mistakes by us....in a game like that , I can live with only three mistakes. Playing an undefeated, #1 seed team, at their place, I expected the fight of our lives.....but against Kinston...not the refs.

If the kick gets blocked, you can ramrod the kicker if you want to. No roughing the kicker on a blocked kick. Why, I don't know. If the idea for roughing is to protect the kicker in a defenseless position, I don't see how blocking the BALL changes his defenselessness, which is not a word. Lol. But what I didn't know was that there is no tackle box in reference to intentional grounding in hs. Boy do I owe a ref an apology from a few weeks ago. He called ig on us when our qb was darn near on the track. I let the ref have it! Oops.

BigBuie, you still haven't said....
Do you think NE was really that penalty prone and Kinston wasn't?

12 penalties against NE, 10 against KHS... Doesn't seem as overwhelmingly lopsided as people are making it sound

I am on a phone and it won't let me copy from the article. It's on page 3 of that article

My thoughts regarding the ruffing the kicker call are different. On this play the kick was blocked at the line of scrimmage. They nailed the kicker after the ball was gone. That's why the flag was thrown. Similar to a qb being nailed after he throws a batted down football and defenders come in after the batted down ball and tackle him. This was the second time in the game the kicker had been taken out. The first time there was a penalty called also and that one stood. But again after a huddling of the officials on the field goal try, the flag was picked up.

Maybe someone will have better luck seeing that and can verify? I definitely did not see 10 penalties called on Kinston? But I know it was more than 12 for NE!

I'm not one to cry sour grapes over a loss..especially if the opponent is just better than us...but CMON! It didn't even have to come down to that last touchdown....it was happening ALL NIGHT with the officiating. I bet if you dug deep enough, you will find that the official on the NE sidelines has either called a NE game before or has had some type of run in with someone from NE before? He was that blatant with his calls! I can't even say good game to Kinston, because it wasnt..not from the officiating stand point. Next week, IF SWE loses to them, I will bet SWE'98 will have a story to tell us too! Shameful!

flyfalconsfly. ...that image clearly shows why he had time to throw in the 2nd half (#41 spun all the way around).

The referee throws the flag for the kicker being hit. He then confers with the other officials to determine if the kick was deflected/blocked. If it was the flag is picked up.

funnt how you guys weren't outraged when there was blatant video evidence that Hertford scored a touchdown....

If they hit him after the ball landed, then that's one thing. But other than than, it doesn't matter if the kick was blocked off his foot or after the ball had taken flight. A block is a block. And if it gets blocked, then the kicker is fair game.

I commented that it was a bang bang play BigBuie. ..just like the Hertford County game. But by you just making that comparison it shows me that the Hertford County game played a role in how this game was officiated.

Well I will just finish with Northeastern was a heck of a football team and the game was as close as I thought it would be.

He probably drove 3 to 4 hours to get there. Officials for the last 3 rounds are assigned by the state and are not from the association that normally works either school if 2 different associations are used by the schools.
