With South Point, Hibriten and West Craven coming to 2A the rest of you 2A schools with be fighting for 9th or 10th place at best.

Nobody's getting passed the Shelby, Lincolnton, Reidsville, East Lincoln wall
High Point Andrews might join the club...TBD.

One of those Catawba county schools might pop up once every decade

Wallace Rose Hill, this is not like 1A..... ya'll are gonna be Thomasville 2.0... lots of 2nd round exits in your future.

Carver might be an X factor.

It's not a given that those teams will come down to 2a and dominant I promise you that, but they are all good teams,Thomasville went down to 1A to start the 97 season after Dominating 2a for many years, and everybody said and thought we would just run right through 1a including myself and it didn't happen we didn't get back to the championship until the 2004 season, and trust me we had some dang good teams in those years

Clinton will be back in the conversation....gotta good core returning and some guys from a good JV team....need to establish some more balance but a tough non conf schedule and new conference should have em ready for a another playoff run

It's a high percentage. All or most of the teams that dominate 2A today hold 3A titles or were dominant in 3A. There is no team dominating 2A in this century that holds a 1A title. The same parody and rivalry these teams held in 3A they brought down to 2A.
No team has moved up to dominate a class UNLESS they were previously in that class.

Not if they remain one dimensional. They will get no further than 3rd round

It's the off season. Let's get it started again.

Catholic should have only been in one classification. 4AA
Outside of Elijah Hood they hardly ever have D1 talent. There well coached and have excellent feeder programs. Much respect to there program.

North Davidson coming down to 2a next year. Not overly confident outside of the CCC, as I have much respect for Shelby, Reidsville, Lincolnton and the like. Our defense must improve, and we have to replace a three year starting qb, but we should be very competitive.

With the opening of Oak Grove, North Davidson will lose a lot of students. BlackKnightNut, any idea of projected enrollment the first year? And will it drop significantly after the first two years?
I've heard different views in the community about how the geographic spread of talent will affect North. Interested to hear yours.

This is a smart man.

North Davidson will have 1400 kids next year, and after that they will fall to around 1050. They are going to lose alot of football talent . Oak Grove will be the team to beat in 5 years in Davidson County. BOOK IT. Saying that, ND will compete for title next year. Theyve got a very good QB that will be a senior next year. Will be very talented.

North will have high end 3a-4a numbers in the junior and senior classes next year, with freshmen and sophomores being 2a numbers. North will be powerful for a couple of years, then the athleticism will shift to oak Grove in 2019.

The rest of the conference is looking at some serious rear end kickings from ND for at least the next two years. They will have almost twice the enrollment as Thomasville during those years. Though the Bulldogs beat North with that disparity in 2011, that's a rarity. And one that had Allen Brown at the helm.
North is a quality program and may continue its domination even after the next two years. But for at least that long, it's North and then everybody else in most sports in the conference. But I'm still glad that Thomasville is in a conference with short travel times and programs that respect each other.

The CCC will be a dog fight next year. With ND and Ledford coming back to 2A with 3A or 4A numbers the first couple of years gives them the advantage. However, you still have competitive football teams with Lexington, Thomasville, Salisbury, and much improved E Davidson teams fighting for playoff spots. The travel times are better with S Rowan being the longest trip from the Tville/Lexington area schools. As for the new school, there will be no Varsity program the first season so that hurts the gates and takes away a Varsity game from the other nine schools. I also look forward to the new look CCC and the renewal of some classic rivals. My prediction is as follows:

1. ND
2. Ledford
3/4/5/6. Thomasville/Lexington/East Davidson/Salisbury (not sure of the order of finish, toss up)
7/8. West Davidson/South Rowan
9. C. Davidson

Always fun to look ahead to next year, but there are so many variables that can come into play between now and then...transfers in/out of schools, grades/eligibility, injuries, coaching changes (HC and Assistants), etc.

I support Shelby High School, and it's a safe bet that Shelby will be a good team once again, but one that will have to work a lot harder to achieve the goals that were met this past season.

I'd like to congratulate all of the state champion teams from all classifications and wish all a healthy and happy holildays and new year.

That's interesting that you think WRH will be losing in the 2nd round. By no means am I suggesting a 2A title next year but this year we beat two teams that played in the Eastern finals, 1 in 2A and 1 in 2AA. We beat South Columbus by 41 and they played Holmes in the Eastern Finals. Our non-conference schedule next year is brutal with conference games against East Duplin, Clinton, and James Kenan and we play Jax-Northside (2AA runner-ups) and Havelock (3A Eastern Finalist) in non-conference. But I think once the playoffs roll around, we will be in good shape. We return 4 of our 5 top rushers plus 8 starters on our defense that was incredible this year. I know the Reidsville's and the Shelby's are incredibly good, but I wouldn't bank on the Bulldogs bowing out gracefully just yet.
