Pisgah 21 NB 20

great game by both teams a lil sloopy with flags but nothing unusual for first week! Pisgah rb Vanbenburg (spelling could be wrong) finshs the game with over 250 yards rushing. Both teams moved the ball well, pisgah has the ball inside the 1 on 4 and goal with just over a minute left and gets held but then NB could not move the ball with only 1 TO left, pisgah takes a knee and holds on. The QB from NB can really sling it and the passed a ton! Good win by Pisgah on to the home opener next week vs. Enka

SMC Pick 'em Week 1 games

The games:

Andrews at Brevard
Robbinsville at Smoky Mtn.
Trinity Academy at Cherokee
Hayesville at Towns County, GA
Shannon Forest, SC at Rosman
Swain at Hapeville Charter
Hendersonville at Murphy
Franklin at Asheville (WNC GotW)
Starmount at Mt. Airy (1A GotW)
South Point at Crest (OMD's GotW--Double Jeopardy--twice the points!)

The contest:

For each game, pick your team and the number of points you want to put on them (from 1 to 5).

If your team wins, you get your points. If your team loses, you LOSE your points (like Jeopardy)... so it's possible to go below zero... but that won't happen to any of us football wizards, will it? :)

Have fun, and good luck!

SEC - Week One

Pine Forest @ Purnell Swett - Rams are tough at "Big Mo", but I think the Trojans will squeak it out..... Trojans 20-19

Lumberton @ Wilson Hunt - L-Town rolls into Wilson to take on 3a power Hunt. I'll take the Pirates in a close one. L-Town 20-17

Pinecrest @ Overhills - Pinecrest starts the season off with a "W". Patriots 28-14

Rocky River @ Richmond - Raiders take down RR for the 3rd year in a row. Raiders 28-21

South View @ Scotland - Scots try to not over look the Tigers before their showdown with Indy and they won't. Scots 28-7

New Hanover @ Hoke - I'll take the Bucks in a upset. Hoke 28-24

Thomasville at Albemarle

Two old arch rivals meet up in the opening game of the 2015 season. At this point I might give Thomasville the edge but I also think it will be a tough hard nosed football game. I am so glad we have renewed this series and hope we stay on each others schedule for years to come. I would also like to meet as many posters on ncpreps as possible before my demise. I am not in good health and just loss my wife but am trying to go on with my life and football is helping me adjust.
OK ITJ I expect you to come up to the front of the press box and meet myself and the rest of the NCC. We are really harmless. LOL.

Murphy/Hendo play an opening night classic

Without a doubt Murphy and Hendersnville played the best and highest quality opening night game Ive ever seen. Dogs pull it out at the bitter end 34-28. Both offenses looked like well oiled machines for an opening night game. Hendo qb Schmid is awesome. Marcus Mariota kind of qb , run pass field general the total package. I thoight Murphy's line play and physical hitting started showing up in the 2nd half.

It was 21-20 at half Hendo after a missed Murphy pat. Dogs take 2nd half kickoff and score to make it 28-21. Dogs march back down to the 6 to take a 2 td lead and FUMBLE ! Hendo then makes a pickoff and return it to the 1 and tie it at 28-28. Dogs get a late 4th qtr stop then put together a CLUTCH drives to go up 34-28 with 1.37 left. Hendo cant score with the clock running and Murphy holds on 34-28.

Just a credit to both teams and coaching staffs to have their teams ready to play a playoff type game on opening night. If both offenses stay healthy they will both score like a pinball machine this year. Hats off to all involved for an absolute opening night classic.

Four County Week 1

Clinton- Open

East Bladen @ South Columbus- Interesting Game. We will see how good or bad both teams are. I don't think SC will be able to mount much offense against this EB D but East O has sputtered in the scrimmages. I will say a low scoring affair. EB 24-SC6

Midway @ Hobbton- Got to go with Midway on this one. Midway 28-Hobbton 6

Pender- Open

Trask vs Topsail- I think it will be a fairly close game with Topsail coming out on top. Topsail 28-Trask 22

Union @ Lakewood- Lakewood takes Union out to the woodshed. Lakewood 42-Union 6

Wallace-Rose Hill vs Laney- Another good week 1 matchup. Laney has a pretty good RB and as a group are pretty solid on both sides of the ball. WRH will just have too many athletes for the Bucs to contain. WRH 28-Laney 7

West Bladen vs South Robeson- West Bladen returns enough skill people to take the W in this one but it might be a shoot out. West Bladen 42-South Robeson 27

Cleveland County Picks Wk1

South Point @ Crest: I have a feeling this game will resemble the semifinal encounter, defensive. Crest 17-14

Q-Foundation @ Burns: Solid games from running backs AJ Camp and Meagle Burris. 28-14 Dawgs

North Gaston @ KM: The running back tandem of Darian McClain and J'Air McCluney powers KM to an opening win. 35-17 KM

Shelby @ Freedom: Shelby "out athletes" the BJ Emmons lead Patriots in a tightly contested game. LIons 31-21

Kannapolis 26 - Concord 15

A big thank you to Time Warner Cable for putting on a great show today. It was a great way to start off the 2015 season with this historical matchup.

Kannapolis to a an early 7-0 lead on a TD pass from QB Johnson to WR Washington. Concord took advantage of a Wonder miscue and tied the game at 7-7 on QB Black 1-yard TD run. Concord had a chance to take a 10-7 lead into halftime but the short FG was missed.

The Wonders would take a 14-7 lead in the 3rd qtr on Johnson's second TD pass to Washington of the night. Concord countered the Wonder score with Black's 2nd TD run. After 2 Wonder penalties on the PAT attempt, the Spiders went for it on 2. Black punched it in to give the Spiders a 15-14 lead.

The fourth quarter became the Jalen Cagle show as he ran for 2 big TDs runs and had a huge punt return that set up the final Wonder TD. Cagle's touchdowns made the margin 26-15 in favor of the Wonders.

Kannapolis reclaimed the Victory Bell after a 3-year absence.

questions that could be answered in week 1 in the smc

Andrews ----- could this be a good year this group could shock everybody and beat brevard... I personally think they will... And be a lot better than people expect

Rville --- will they continue their dominance or will they come back to earth facing a scrappy smokey team who has a lot of emotion to play for ...

Hayesville will this start a return to the middle of the smc pack vs a towns county team

Rosman don't know anything about Shannon forest ... But rosman seems poised to make some noise

Swain a great start will show just how good they gonna be or a struggle and we see some cracks in the ship...

Murphy toughest game of night .. If Murphy wins they could well be on their way to another title run

Cherokee will this be the start of a turnaround that has people excited or a bump back to being a competitive program ..
