Tony George will be missed by so many. He was a football and basketball coach at Mount Airy for many years and a graduate of Mount Airy High. I think he coached or was at Starmount for a while and a Principal at several schools. Tony was an amazing man and he left us so young but he got his wings Friday.

Looking for one more team to complete the 8 team jamboree on Nov. 16th. This is for Varsity boys only and some teams due to football being pushed back will be bringing a mixture of JV/Varsity players just to get some reps in before the season. The Grizzlies come into The Battle of the Tracks looking like a machine. They have had their way with everyone in the trenches not named West Forsyth, and the defense has been impressive. Most points have been scored on the backups, as Asheboro did late this past week. The Black Knights are back on their feet after a tough non conference schedule put them in the usual hole to start. The defense has been impressive at times and the offense seems to be catching up with timing and cohesion. OG is the clear favorite but you never know in a rivalry game... good luck to both and I hope for a not so heavy flag fest this year which seems to be a tradition for these two lol.

Asheboro has the athletes to score on Central, but Central is a bad matchup for them with the double wing. If Aboro is to win they need to outscore Central, which I don't see happening but that's why they play the game.

Montgomery Central looked good against weak competition and found out they still have a ways to go this past week. Ditto for Ledford. This game may decide the cellar dweller this year, along with the Aboro games. MC has better athletes but Ledford has better linemen. This may be a toss up but history says Ledford until MC pulls it off for the first time since conference formed.

Camden County will be crossing the Pasquotank this Friday night to face the best 2a team in the state. This is gonna be a tough match for Northeastern because the Bruins are coached by former Northeastern assistant Ernest Sutton. Camden is coming off a tough loss to a surging First Flight team that is playing better than it has in a long time. The Bruins will do their best to make a game of it but this years Northeastern team is just to loaded. I have the Eagles winning comfortably 67-0.

Crest added another QB to the depth chart is what I’m hearing. The big Hamrick kid from ACR enrolled today.

I was looking for some good Charlotte games and this is what I found. 0-6 Ballantyne Ridge vs 1-5 Berry. Looks like Charlotte games will be played on Thursday. Any thoughts with this game.
