Heidi Trask

I learned something today. I always thought the school was named after a woman, but apparently not.

The man first name was Christian.

Heide Trask High School is named after C. Heide Trask, a member of the North Carolina State Highway Commission. The school's campus is built on land donated by the Trask family. Heide Trask High School opened in 2002 to prevent overcrowding at another local high school, Pender High School.
The Trask family owns a lot of land in Pender and New Hanover counties. The land UNCW is on was owned by Trask family (Trask Coliseum) Rumor has it that they donated land for the college with the expectation that football would not be played there.

Yesterday afternoon put out half a bag of corn because my son should be coming home for Thanksgiving. Decided to climb stand after because it was close to 4:15 and figured what the heck. Around 5:15 bunch of thrashing and grunting across the branch. Kinda wide, young six comes sauntering my way. Goes up to just put out corn, which hasn’t been there in a year and starts his supper! Meanwhile grunting continues back where he came from. Nothing else came out before dark. Bet my corn is gone though 😂
I love being in the woods…
He needed a little popcorn while he watched the show. I got lucky Saturday night and had a good heavy 8 come in following a young doe. Big mistake. Smoke stick is done for this year.

Will Conferences not exist?

  • We are not sure that the NCHSAA will even keep conferences.Going to eight classifications makes sorting the leagues out very difficult. Some have speculated or encouraged the NCHSAA to mimic region formats used in other states.
    • On a related note, we are not sure what playoffs will look like with eight classifications. With much thinner fields of teams to choose from, some will hold the opinion that every team should make the playoffs. If that is the case, what purpose would traditional conferences hold? For this exercise, we are assuming that the style of conferences that we are used to will remain.
    • We do not know the answers to the following questions:
      • Will the NCHSAA emphasize the number of split conferences or try to minimize them?
      • What will be the minimum number of schools in a conference?
      • Will the association allow three different classifications into a split conference? Will there be a minimum number of teams from each classification in a split conference? Will they allow conferences to have one team from its own classification like East Carteret, Polk County, and Martin County are now?
  • One thing that we find likely is the removal of the permanent dividing line between the east and west regions. With eight classifications, the current dividing line would result in significant imbalance. Thus, it will likely be possible for conferences in the center part of the state to feature teams that will go west or east in the playoffs.
THIS WAS COPIED FROM HIGH SCHOOL OT
This may turn out to be one of the biggest messes the NCHSAA has come up with when it starts next year and through the 2025 playoffs. It may have been better to just go back to the split A-AA conference playoffs !

Round 2: Rematch - Statesville at Hickory

The reason for the spread in my prediction is that Statesville lacks self-discipline and the pressure in this game will be much higher. It could, very well, be a close game, but I do think that Hickory has the advantage and I also think that Coach Glass will have the guys prepared and playing at a higher level for the playoffs. No disrespect to Statesville, they do have size and athletic ability, but they do tend to implode when met with difficulties.

2A EAST 2ND ROUND

NE vs GC
No explanation needed.
NE 56-7

ED at WC
Rematch here of the earlier season game in which WC won. We were real banged up in that one, and we are back to solid health now and playing our best football of the year. Looks like West Craven is also. I trust out staff to be ready for the rematch. I think WC will have real trouble stopping us.
ED 35-14

JK at Martin County
The outside looks at this matchup, says Jk and moves on. Not so fast. Martin County is good. They have athletes all over the field. I was able to catch their week 12 game with northside Jacksonville. They will give JK real problems in this one. If JK heads to williamston with their mind set on Legion stadium, Martin County is going to pull the upset. (yes it would be an upset regardless of the nchsaas stupid seeding system)
MC 27-21

SWE at WRH
This will be a blowout if WRH doesnt turn the ball over. I dont think they will.
WRH 35-7

Kinston at SE Alamance
This is the most interesting matchup of round 2. My opinion of SE Alamance definitely took a hit after seeing how badly SWE beat cummings. This game will come down to Kinston O vs SEA D. Kinston is going to let a few touchdowns up that is for sure. The question is, can they keep up offensively? I think Kinston's athleticism brings this one home for them
Kinston 33-28

Holmes at AG
I dont think either of these teams are great but give me AG
AG 21-14

Princeton at EW
Don't know to much about either of these teams except that I assume kinston runs it a lot and that EW throws it a lot.nGonna take the upset here in what I think could be a tossup game
Princeton 21-16

FC at Whiteville
FC seems to be playing their best ball of the year and Whiteville seems to be playing their worst. Still dont think FC will pull the upset here.
Whiteville 42-21
Martin County never played Northside, Jacksonville, they played Northside, Pinetown, a big difference.
