Appreciate ya. I’m still alive and toward the top but ehhh that Newton pick is gonna mess me up. But I’ll be even with Lincolnton with his Draughn pick ha ha.

But hey stranger things happen, like the EB Freedom game of 98’ Long story short Freedom DESTROYED teams that shut out EB the weeks prior then Freedom barley got out of that game alive with a real close win. Newton boys, don’t lemmie down lol

Yes, I realize that. My whole point is that if a team gets tested and punched in the mouth a few times early in the season, they are more ready to face some adversity and bounce back from being down come playoff time. If I was a head coach, I wouldn't want the first time my team felt being in a close game and some tough competition being in the third/fourth round of the playoffs. I would want them to feel that in August and September.

Tarboro vs Hertford County

My dad and Allen Jay played Ahoskie for the Eastern state title in 1970. Murphy won the west. Ahoskie consolidated and integrated that year, giving them 1200 students in 2A ball. Allen Jay had 300 to 400 kids but no 1A schools in the area so they played up and went all the way to the finals but lost to Ahoskie 28-12. Dad was injured on the opening kickoff. Played middle linebacker in a 5-3, played left guard in an old school wing t, and snapped for punts and played kickoffs and kick returns. Got clipped at the knees and went out opening kick. Also played in the North South game at Greenville that year. Only had 23 guys on the team, so the fact they got past Elizabethtown who was ranked no. 2 in 2A in the semis and got to the finals was crazy.

Ahoskie lost to Havelock early and Tarboro near the end of regular season. They upset number 1 Jordan Matthews who was killing everyone and only allowing 2 ppg on defense. Ahoskie won 14-12 and then beat AJ to claim the title. They moved up to 3A the next year.

Allen Jay consolidated into Southwest and Southern Guilford in 1979 and was the last gasp of community schools around here.

At least for now….Salisbury, Burns and North Stanly play later today due to all the weather delays. It appears that CSD took the loss to Country Day after being down 14-0 after 1st quarter…I’m not sure if they are trying to make that up as it was posted as a final score.

Good to see Otis and his West Craven Ravens off the bench.😂

Am I the only one who was shocked that SE Alamance beat Eastern Alamance? Y’all do remember that Eastern Alamance was the only team to beat Reidsville last year. Blows me away!
The 2a east better keep an eye on that SE Alamance bunch. 🫵

I didn’t see helmet to helmet either and I’m being unbiased about the situation. He’s a runner not s passer at the point he was throwing and there was no helmet to helmet. Glad someone had a clear view from video as some just want to assume it was helmet to helmet. Call wasn’t justified as some your own fans said so. We’ll see how both teams adjust tomorrow night. Hope to make it to see how it turns out.

I know their early round games are usually blowouts and they are not struggling for those games. But they get a bit more tested come the quarters, semis and state title game. Those games are not always blowouts and they have lost in the title game to Mount Airy the last two seasons. And scored only 10 points in those two games combined.

I’m not sure how Hartle got into Reagan legally but he did. I will say this, in the last 3 years Reagan hasn’t got any “WSFCS choice” transfers for academics/athletics. Reagan is considered “Full” and only kids that live within the Reagan district gets in, besides a few employee kids.

Wallace at Hoggard
Wallace beat Clinton like a drum, but that doesn’t mean very much. Wallace doesn’t seem to be fit to defend the pass from what I have seen, which makes me like Hoggard in this one. Hoggard lost QB I think but they probably have another one who is capable ready to roll.

Richlands at ED
Richlands with a super impressive win last week over SWO. ED loss was definitely disappointing. Davis got hurt early and that ended up costing ED big time. Also WC QB was real real good and ED had trouble containing him. This matchup is really interesting as I think it will tell you what you need to know about both these teams. Is richlands really legit? or is ED gonna bounce back. I’m gonna take the panthers as I do think they will bounce back.

SWO with a pretty disappointing loss last week to Richlands. And white oak has looked good to this point only losing to Jville by a TD last week. With that said, I am gonna take the upset here and take SWO to win this one. I still have some faith in this southwest team despite last weeks performance
