Harrison needs to focus on football at this point. He won’t play basketball at the D1 level
Watauga is fifth in RPI among 4A west girl's squads and can't be overlooked. But Alexander is currently right behind them in sixth and there's no guarantee that the Lady Pioneers even wins the conference over them. You have to take them seriously because they made a run all the way to the regional finals last year, but then Katie Sears basically kept them in the game with a monster performance. Frankly, Freedom should have beaten them in Morganton last year and only lost in overtime. Watauga plays a tough schedule, but at this point I think the Lady Titans might be in a better position to make a run come playoff time. Not hearing anyone mention Watauga girls in 4a threads. They’ve played a tough schedule and seem to be hitting their stride. They still have one of the best players in the state in Sear, but McDowell’s team defense may be to much…would like to see!
I'm not really sure if I can give a good answer to this question as I've only seen each team once. My impression is that McDowell is a better team, but that a lot of that comes from shooting. I would probably say that the Titans take seven out of ten against the Rockets if you played that often and I wouldn't be at all surprised if you swept them in the regular season. You won't see Parkins make many thundering dunks. But he has incredible hands and post moves for his size. His nickname is baby joker since he's like a mini Nikola Jokic. His opponents came up with it from what I have been told.
McDowell girls don't have a ton of height, Joyner is 6'0 and our other post has a torn ACL.
How would you compare McDowell to Reynolds?
It’s doable, but not ideal. Thomasville was in a ten team conference with eleven games. So only two non-conference games also.Nine-team conferences just don't work with ten-game regular seasons in football. But with the playoffs going from six to five rounds in 2025, maybe there is hope for an 11-game regular season.
He was having a great game against Corvain before the injury ... exited with just under 6 minutes in third quarter and already had 15 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks.
Watched him play at Crest in the 90's. Great pickup for HR.Brandon Gentry - former NW Cabarrus HC most recently at Hopewell.

I know it's a year away but Oregon might be the best for him. Do you think he will be at Reidsville next year?Is Big Dre at least playing some defense when he isnt hobbled with: fatigue, bum knee, bum ankle, missing practice, or rest?
Donnie back at Central would be good...probably happening

Heard the final goodbyes need to happen at current school then named soon after!Expected the announcement last Monday, wondering what the hold up is. I know originally they wanted to name by Christmas.
Wow, in the last alignment, wasn’t Thomasville in a ten team conference with all Davidson and Rowan County schools? Of course, we were thrown in with some much larger schools.I remember those days and the league was spread out all over the place in multiple counties at once time from Iredell to Moore.
Just found out the Mooresville n South Iredell game got moved up for the 9th due potential bad weather coming in. Also Lake Norman vs Hickory Ridge on 9th as well. Lake Norman plays West Cabarrus this evening as of 1/7.1/7 Lake Norman vs West Cabarrus @ 7:30
1/10 Mooresville will be home against South Iredell. Game time 7:30. Question is will bad weather interfere with the games going on. I guess it will depend on the timing of this system. Last heard we could be in for wintery mix of snow and ice. Time will tell.
I , like most hardwood fans, check the rankings once or twice a week, both Max Preps and the RPI rankings from the NCHSAA....Last week Asheboro was ranked seventh in the RPI ( Ridiculously Provocatively Insane poll ) . After losing to 2-A Randleman and a 1-A squad, Eastern Randolph, that was .500 ( 3-3 ) before beating Asheboro by sixteen last Friday , the Blue Comets have moved up to sixth in the NCHSAA, or RPI rankings. They have slipped from fourth in the Max Preps rankings from last week to twelfth this week, still way too high. If Asheboro keeps losing to 1-A and 2-A teams, they'll be ranked first in North Carolina.
Don't take what I heard to the bank ... I'm not really in the loop.Glad it wasn't more lingering like a high ankle sprain. Or a soft tissue injury.
