SMH. Where is that Shelby fan that thought Shelby could beat MC and Chambers? Or compete at 4A level?
We have beaten the unified 4A Champions in 3 of the 5 years surrounding their titles.
Once was as 2A, on their field. When they were nationally ranked.
We have nothing left to prove.
See below.

Well, we’ve been waiting on this.
The perfect teaching moment.

We will stretch a little, but not really.
The point will be made.
The point we have made for decades.

Chambers played “up” this week. They lost.
Hough played “up” last week. They lost.
Mallard Creek played “up” this week. Lost.
Weddington played “up” this week. Lost.
Dudley played “up” this week. They lost.
Shelby played “up” this week. They lost.
Reidsville played “up” this week. They lost.

The top teams in the State, across classifications, played “up” this week (or last), and they all lost.
But every losing coach will tell you, it will make them better….for the season.
The loss will expose the weaknesses, with time to correct or adjust to them.

“So what?”, you ask. Most understand that, correct?
No, they don’t.
We have had the biggest arguments and most aggressive abuse trying to make this point, primarily to the 4A crowd, but also to 3A and 2A folks as well. Play “up”, it will make you better. “But 4A can’t play “up” “, they said.
They just did. And lost.
Powerful Indy, at their finest, played “up” in Ohio. And lost.

Some thought, play it safe, schedule cupcakes for non conference, go undefeated, and you will get the highest seeds, and now, perhaps a bye.
Some still think that way.
It is past time for strength of schedule to be considered in year end seeding.
We will not hold our breath.
But finally, many are starting to see the great value there is in scheduling non conference play against a team that may be better than you.

Want more proof?

There is a high school football program in NC that has been playing “up” forever.
Many years, 40% of their schedule has been against teams from higher classes. Some years, it was over 50%. Many years, including this year,
scheduled teams 2 classes “up”.
That program has won more games and more State Titles in the last 60 years than any other.
They have won 92% of games within their class.
The closest other program of any class is at 80%.
But in only 3 of those seasons were they undefeated.

Now you know why.

Eastern Randolph played "up" this week. They won.

Now you know why the first sentence in your fifth paragraph is inaccurate.

Know a lot about Shelby and came down last night to check out our rockets from the mountains. Shelby qb Lee ran for his life and Reynolds pounded the rock down the field every drive. 5 from Reynolds one of the top backs in the state

Are you saying Eastern is one of the best on state? I wouldn't exactly say they played up. Asheboro is not good.
Forest Hills “played up” against 4A Piedmont and it wasn’t a contest at all. Monroe played up against 4A Piedmont last night and won 55-0.

“Playing up” isn’t solely based on classification. That’s a tired application. Only strong indicator of classification, in most cases, is depth.

Damn excuses flying left and right. Always something when Shelbyville gets ran off the field. Lol

Weddington did NOT play up. They are a 4A school and played a school with a smaller enrollment than they have. Weddington's opponent was private school Providence Day (not 4A public Providence HS).

I have thought P Day may be as good as any team in the state and just as talented as all. Chad Grier is a great coach and has been given much more support to build a national level program. Love it.

There you go again.
Providence Day is loaded and dominate.
And private.
That is why we qualified the list as a slight stretch.
But you know that.
For Weddington to play them now, with that Providence Day roster, must be considered playing “up” , for the purpose of our post.
Weddington has been a great program and team recently. Just a nod to their schedule.

Now stop finding minutia you feel compelled to challenge us on.

This game was scheduled last winter. At the time many would have considered PD as stepping up. Chad Grier went looking for teams that would push his squad. I thought they were fairly evenly matched but expected Weddington, and other team, to struggle with PD's passing attack. The scheme, the coaching, Davis and Shipp. Tough to handle.

So are you confirming or challenging our last post?
Or just feel you have to reply to us?

Most knowledgebale football people in the area would have said PD was playing up when this game was scheduled. Weddington has been the better team up until this season.
Yeah this is true, Weddington has been the better team the last few years. That’s pretty much understood

Okay. So you just had to reply to us.
like now.
Weddington has been a recent contender, primarily the back of a player named Shipley.
4A has not been as kind.
Taking on Grier alone represents scheduling an opponent out of your 4A box.

So why are you even focusing on Weddington?
They were just one of several teams referenced, many more successful.
To point out a stretch?
We said that.
To imply we are not “knowledgeable “ as you put it?

Get over your beef with us, btango.
Just because we don’t bow down to your biased assessment of high school football, you do not need to seek out the tiniest of potential challenges in our posts.

There are several statements in your post that are questionable. That was one of them.

See. You do it on multiple threads to us.
Who put you in charge of clarifications of our posts.
And you are often mistaken.

Starting to think you are just messing with us.
You already know what you attempt to clarify.

You have no authority. Nor are you objective.

I think it's safe to say btango has forgotten more football than you've ever seen buddy. Sit this one out, it isn't going well for you.
I am going to assume your name '2nd To None' is in reference to your spot on the weekly Idiot Rankings.

No, not really safe to say.
We know our minutia and he knows his.
We have been going at it with btango for years, long before you were paying attention.
He knows us. That is why it is clear he is messing with us, not really contributing.
We have put him in his place before, and he remained quiet for a while towards us, but now appears emboldened.
You …on the other hand. What has you coming to his defense?
You can’t contribute any substance, so you result to name calling, as others do often.
