It's a pretty long ride to the Ville. If you're arriving early and want to grab dinner, we have several great choices.
Short Sugars BBQ $
Celtic Fringe $$
Turks $$ great wings
Tons of fast food

Fursty's at Ashcroft Commons on Freeway Drive and Subway on Freeway Drive are also very good and near stadium.

Frusty's features pizza and has a best salad bar in Reidsville, complete with salad fixings, soup, and usually cobbler of some type.

Doubt they bring much of a crowd. It will likely be better than Grahams though.
2nd round teams may bring a decent crowd.

They will probably bring a decent crowd but nothing like you'd expect for a playoff game. Ate at Short Sugars last year before the game and dang was it good

Wolf I heard a rumor today that the Littlejohns are back at Lincolnton. Sure would have helped you guys if they were back before now

Short Sugars is great. Leave early and plan to eat there, Rebel friends.

I'm hearing the Littlejohns will be back to play basketball at Lincolnton as soon as their football season ends. Definitely would have been nice to have had them for football. We'd have been 9-2 at worst.

If you’re a West Lincoln fan and only will visit Reidsville once go to Pete’s end of discussion

What are y’all doing ? There isn’t a soul in Western Lincoln county on Preps or the Internet

They can’t spell NCPREPS....

True story back when we played them for several years I walked in the home side made my way down the stands and across the end zone! Laying DEAD in said endzone was a white cat! Not sure but I think it was as close to a Lion as they could find there near Vale and used it as an intimidation tactic . It was 45-0 at the half...

They will all be about 5’7 tough looking kids with full beards but it’ll be 50/0 at the half .... save your money get Wes to cook some BBQ sit around a campfire and get the Mule to take his teeth out and use them as a hand puppet ! It’ll be more entertaining than this game will be

Love,

Shelby Lion

Ps what’s chances lumbeeramfan makes his way back from West Virginny to take in some games !??

I've been hearing it but don't know for certain. It wouldn't surprise me if Cordel came back but Jamal still has another year so I don't know if he plans on staying at Roswell to play his senior season there or come back for that. It would have been nice to have them this season but I understand why they made the move. Both are good kids

It's bell season. Lumbee will have to get sent home before he a game in NC this late in the season.

Shelby Líon, LOL, all of them 5’7, with full beards and a dead cat in the endzone ? That’s hilarious. Thank you for the laugh, I needed it.

Believe me, West Lincoln would never try to intimidate The Golden Lions. Knowing them, it was more of a last act of defiance thing.

Side note: The highway from Winston-Salem to Reidsville, I believe it is NC 158, a rural route that runs through western Rockingham County, the contour of the land, there, looks almost identical to what most of West Lincoln looks like. Very pretty area.

Lincolnton it is US 158 not NC 158.. a small point for sure...it runs all the way to the Outer Banks (a long, long way there, 2 lane all the way)....it is a pretty ride most of the way,,,,Are u going to Graham to see your wolves destroy the Red Devils.?? shouldn't even be close even with the Wolves being down this year......Graham is about 35 miles from us....city limits abut Burlington.....safe travels if you do go..........................

Rambbq, thank you for the information on U.S. 158. I’m a hayseed whose never traveled much so when I get to go somewhere I pay attention to it. I should learn something useful like how to drive a nail.

I know the Rams are set to go for another title. We aren’t too good, this year. We’re 5-6. I know you like competition and I’m hoping we’ll be back in the thick of things before too much longer.

I won’t get to see this week’s game at Graham due to having to work late, this Friday.

Congrats to what looks like another great season.

When I was just a kid I was very lucky to have an uncle who was only 10 years older than me and his first cousin who loved high school football games. Many times they took me to games that seemed on the other side of the country to watch teams like Shelby, Lincolnton, Thomasville, Hickory. This was in the 1940s and 1950s and travel then was very much different than it is now. I thought those teams were awesome and I have many great memories of those trips. Not unusual to get back home in the early morning hours. Of course, I pretty much slept all the way back.

TheMule, thanks for sharing the memories of the old days. I can imagine the conversation going to the game in a 1940’s automobile . Then, to a kid from Reidsville, it must have seemed like a great journey just to Thomasville, let alone Hickory or Lincolnton. That had to have been fun.

My cousin who is some years older than me told about going to a game in Kings Mountain with my grandfather, my dad and my dad’s brother and how they stopped at a service station (a lot of young people don’t know what that is) near Cherryville.
This service station was run by a bootlegger
He said the attendant brought them a pint of liquor and a small coke.
He recalled watching them drink it. He said each of them got one drink of liquor and one drink of coca-cola and the last one threw both empty bottles out the window as they were going down the road.
I asked if they bought him anything and he said they got him a cheerwine and a pack of peanuts.
Even now. As an old man, I still get excited about going to football games.

tip for those coming to game. take us 29 through greensboro on way home and then get on I40. 158 is a nice, easy drive but not advisable at night due to high deer population. i travel that road often. also, field conditions won't be good. played game last week in downpour and it has rained or drizzled here all week. that field gets a lot of traffic with jv, middle school and varsity football, middle school and varsity soccer, rec football and aau football.

I remember those “old” days in the early 60’s. I lived in Concord and my Dad would take me to Concord football games. I can remember one season when Concord was 8-0 and went on the road to play Thomasville, who was undefeated also. Thomasville won 27-0. Concord finish the season the next week by beating Kannapolis but did not go to the playoffs because of the Thomasville game. I believe that was in the old South Piedmont Conference. Anyway, we moved on to Reidsville where I went to high school.

Speaking of bootlegging, I probably shouldn't tell this story but since my days of seeking public elected office are long over here goes.

When I was very, very young my grandpa occasionally would run off a "batch" (just to tide things over during hard times, you understand). My uncle would make the "deliveries" and I would help him.

I don't know how old I was but I was small enough to stand up in the front seat of the car. My instructions were "Now don't forget, $1 for the small jar and $2 for the big jar". Small jar was a pint and big jar was a quart. I would take the jars to the house and collect the money. Remember getting paid $1 for my nights work.

Ah, the good 'ol days.:)

Lol, Mule, my grandfather kept the jars as oppose to the bottles. He said it was more natural that way. He said he bought in Casar (Cleveland County).

Ooooner, I enjoyed going to a Spiders game. My friend O.C. Davis might have been playing for Thomasville back then.

I've found that a lot of fans read N.C. Preps but don't post.

Mule, my grandma got delivery’s from the old nascar driver Wendell Scott when she ran her store..the good ol days!

Hummmm... I remember there seemed to be a guy at Thomasville with a name like Bobo that was very good running back. Billy Penndigraph was the running back at Concord back then.

The old South Piedmont had teams like Concord, Statesville, Asheboro, Albemarle, Monroe, Thomasville and a few others I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Tough draw for West Lincoln. But #1 seeds have fallen in first round. Ask Freedom and South Point. It happens.

They had to give out their equipment again Monday for practice. Yes... anything can happen, but....

The biggest concern for high seeded teams is the risk of injury, but that's always a concern. The loss of a key player could be a factor deeper into the playoffs.
With an outstanding coaching staff like the Rams must have they'll take everything into consideration.
West Lincoln usually struggles but they are physical.

Injuries in 2A is a death sentence in many cases. Crushed us two years ago against the Wolves. If you remember any numbers from last year. No.8 was out with broken leg. No. 1, which guarded Surratt, was less than 50% with dislocated hip earlier in season and our best 3 technique and starting guard was out with ACL team. Not sure it would have meant a win but definitely not a blowout. Need to stay healthy take care of business and advance. Last year when we faced Madison, our guys were subject to a lot of racial comments. Hearing WL has a tendency to let words fly as well

This Reidsville team is deep though. We absolutely can't lose our Qb though. We did lose a back up receiver that I really liked, hope he's back next year.

FBC, I remember being told about the injuries. I think rambbq had said something. I knew the Rams had injuries, that year.
As far as the words and conduct the only time I have heard of it with West was when they played Lincolnton and usually it was slugging and pushing and late hits, but that probably had something to do with both schools being from the same county.

I go on about them but people from West, generally speaking, are ok. They're probably just glad to make the playoffs. Their sports are wrestling and baseball.
Go over and speak to them if you get a chance.

About Madison, I saw them play East Lincoln in 2012 and I thought there was some questionable conduct from them: pulling helmets, wallowing the running backs after the tackle, hitting after the whistle had blown.

Their kids took things really was past the acceptable jawing back and forth.

FBC, in years past West has been bad about their choice of words but Im not sure thats the case under Saine. Not sure if it applies to other teams they play but I know when I played against them there were some words tossed around here and there.
