West Caldwell At Newton-Conover

Lincolnton isn't playing, this Friday, so for the first time in two weeks I'm off from work and was looking for a good matchup. I looked at this area from here to Concord, and down to the South Carolina upstate and didn't see much.

Shelby is at Kings Mountain which maybe the oldest rivalry around, and not to sell the Mountaineers short, this season, but they got one uphill battle (no pun intended) if they stay in the game with the Golden Lions...
Monroe is at Cuthbertson but I don't think they can handle the Hawks unless they're emotionally drained after a big overtime win against Weddington. Charlotte Catholic has Berry. I can't see the Cardinals having much of a chance, though...Then, I saw where West Caldwell is at Newton-Conover.

I'd said earlier I didn't think the Warriors could play with the Devils, then somebody, maybe an East Burke poster, said WC was missing a key player in one of their two losses which might make a difference. Nothing much has been said about this game and I was hoping someone would have something to say. All comments appreciated. :)
 
I heard that 5 or 6 west Caldwell players were caught shoplifting at Belk in Lenoir on Monday. Anyone know their staus? Are they going to be allowed to play?
 
I have spoke with some people no charges were filled and all the players will be in action on friday
 
This is not last year's Newton defense. Smaller, bigger hearts, and quicker. They will not be running away from the tackle. I look for the linebackers to lead this charge.
 
So let me get this straight, the boys steal on Monday and get caught and they play on Friday? Wow!
 
Maybe you should get your facts straight nobody stole anything as the post says no charges were filled which means nothing was stolen. Im sorry if your over there praying for west players to miss the game but that want be happening so better luck next time.

Just because no charges were filed (not filled) doesn't mean they weren't caught in the act of shoplifting...it just means that the people they attempted to steal from didn't press charges, most likely because when they were caught they gave it right back and somebody knew somebody to keep the boys out of trouble.

Cav I don't know what it is with you but you have been quick to snap at people on posts and I'm not one to point someone out but you are consistently rude to other members. Cut it out man and how about you get your facts straight before you type out your rude rebuttals.

I heard about it here in Statesville, if you go to Belk in Lenoir ask for the West Caldwell Football discount.
 
By the way, I could care less about Newton. I believe Beam scored 60 on you last year. Not sure he is praying about players sitting out.
 
I see Newton taking 2nd or 3rd in this conf fairly easily. I figured this would be Wests year considering they only lost 14 to zip against South Caldwell. South showed they were a different team from that game when they played Maiden last friday night

I deal with this issue a lot in my profession .... Kids steal, get caught red handed and the store does not press charges . Too much time devoted to going to Court and employees sitting in court on the clock . They are usually banned from the store for a year but that's no big deal and hard to enforce. Sad .....
 
I don't think the issue is whether charges were pressed or not. If they did (and I don't know) there should be a punishment that fits the crime.

Now Beamer there you go trying to make a logical and ethical point. If you do that how are kids ever going to get into Florida State where they can become model citizens?

Plus one. Coaching staff is much too capable not to make necessary corrections.
 
This is a tough decision for a young coach. It will set the standard for what is and isn't acceptable. Do you sit your studs a set and a policy of it doesn't matter who you are the rules apply to all, or do you play them and set the standard of win at all cost, personal responsibility is over rated.
 
West sure didnt have a problem last year against that defense with the 50 points they put on it.

Why are you worried about sitting a few bad apples when you put 50 up against them last year? Sounds like it should be another easy win.
 
I wish one person on here could provide some proof to this even taken place if you dont have proof all you got is hear say so keep wasting your day worring aboug whats going at west maybe you should take a little time and worry about whats going on inside your school its pretty bad when you cant even keep a former star player to stay there and coach he had to come to west.

True but Newton made a decision to start the biggest, slowest, sled pushing kids on the defense. They pushed sleds and lifted weights. Bench presses don't hit back. This year are kids who actually earned a position. The linebackers are finally kids who will lay the smack. Two of the linebackers have 50 t0 60 fights a year and ain't scared of shyte. Both wrestlers and leading the team defense.

I hope West Caldwell does well. I want them to succeed. Just not this week. Now will West be wearing a uniform or Belk's Ralph Polo Denim?

Everyone loves your new basketball coach at West Caldwell. He was a star at Newton but the admin had some tough choices that had nothing to do with Antonio Lyerly himself. Antonio will come back and spank Newton. He is a terrific young man who can identify with kids. He will be a team player when the football coach wants the basketball players for football. He played both and realizes multiple sport kids make the best athletes and are always in shape.
 
Football is an outside sport. Unless it's hail or lightning is striking over the stadium then lace them up.
 
I grew up with Antonio in Statesville (where he's orginally from). I'm proud of ole Bert. Hope the best for him.

Not at all saying West Caldwell will beat N-C but those two losses to SC and Hibriten were a little tainted . 4 key offensive starters were injured including QB Titus Tucker. I think N-C will face a much more dangerous WC that is healthy and a much better team with Tucker taking snaps.

It sure is a tough decision when the age we live in is win at cost. The job of a high school football coach is a difficult one for sure. Most of us could never imagine the time it takes and the pressure these guys are under constantly. My hat goes off to them....We will see Tom Brown tonight and he is in his 70's. That's pretty amazing.
 
Has anyone heard if this game is on as scheduled. Here, it's raining and the weather service says it will rain all night.

I saw where Simmons has Newton-Conover favored by five points. Also, thanks for the update on West Caldwell, TarHeel Gregg.

This game is a go. Will be played 9/25 at 7:30.
 
Loved it....shows why we play the game,West took Newtons defense out to the woodshed.....One team came to play and one team didn't...Good job West,you deserve the win....
 
I have said it for weeks now west is a different team Titus Tucker healthy, great win for the warriors by the way where was them great linebackers i didnt see them lol.
 
Good win by the Warriors. Program on the rise ! English has got those kids believing now. Haven't had that since about 02' what was even better was seeing the basketball coach Lyerly and English converse and exchange handshakes before the game. West Caldwell is great shape with both programs for years to come!
