Last year the Blue Devils beat the brakes off the Falcons in Mt Ulla. But Mooresville lost almost their entire offense to graduation. WR begins a new era under HC Joe Nixon this season and you can bet your house that those returning Falcons want themselves some Blue Devil blood this time around. HC Hal Capps will do his level best to have Mooresville prepared. Expect a packed house at The Popp this Friday. I'll give Mooresville a slight homefield advantage, just to pick a side.

Im really not sure what to think of us going into this game. At the jamboree friday night i thought we showed real explosivness at times... But penalties killed us a lot. Defense looks like they haven't lost much of a step from last yr- secondary looks to be much improved. Returning an experienced oline and a RB that got some solid time before his injury will be helpful. QB has a huge arm- so I expect we will be able to have a vertical pass game that we can rely on this year too. I just worry about the penalties

Simmons has West Rowan as a 21 point underdog. That seems a bit much if you ask me. Salisbury Post picked Mooresville by 7. I think that's a fair assessment. West is pretty good this year. We shall see.

Both teams revealed their ability to move the ball early. Mooresville scored first on a nice drive but WR returned the ensuing kick off for a touchdown. WR scored again on a long pass play. Mooresville jumped off side on the conversion kick and WR went for 2 but failed to score. WR scored again to push their lead to 20-7 and appeared to have Mooresville on the ropes. But the Blue Devils answered right before the half, cutting the Falcon lead to 6. Mooresville picked up the tempo on offense in the second half and took the lead 21-20. WR appeared wilt in the August heat with defenders dropping like flies with cramp after cramp after cramp. Mooresville stuck one last pigskin in the endzone and elected to kick the PAT, 28-20. But WR forced a Blue Devil punt with 3 minutes and change and fought their way downfield to score with under a minute to go. But the 2 pt conversion pass attempt fell short. Mooresville recovered the onsides kick attempt to survive. Whew!

Mooresville wont have long to savor the win with a trip to face the Hough Huskies looming.

Penalties..... That was an issue in our scrimmages and it was a huge issue tonight. Our kick/punt coverage was awful. We were fortunate they didnt return 1 or 2 more kicks/punts for a score. I thought our oline did very well. The running backs look very good. There's serious potential with this offense- just gotta gel.

Good luck to you guy's too, although I dont think you'll need much luck. You have an outstanding team and staff that should win alot this season. W Rowan is back!

Devil football Is so electrifying and a beautiful stadium. If ya'll ever get a chance to pass by and watch a football game, is well worth it. Not bad when you are behind by a long margin and come back to win in. Close but a great win for the Devils.

You could see the conditioning on the devils side

Yeah without a doubt the conditioning level is the real reason we won. With all the mistakes we were making it would have been an almost impossible task to make that comeback without the conditioning
