Tarboro vs Corvian for the Ship

If you put Corvian up against Reidsville 2017 or 2018 teams it's not even close and Heritage lost by 1 score in both of those games at Reidsville. 2009 was slightly better too imo.
I can agree with this & honestly, I can say the same for that Havelock team. That fumble & onside kick changed the game.

I'd say it's close between them and 09 and 18 if Corvian keeps it close with Tarboro I'd least give them 2nd best team all time.
Heritage had a bigger line in 2017 and 2018 and made less mistakes. Quinn is faster and a good player no doubt but Robinson was tough. He was a beast. This years team had more penalties and turnovers than any of those other teams mentioned too.

This Tarboro team is closer to the 19 and 20 teams but I don’t think it’s quite to the level of the 17 and 18. My fellow Tarboro fans can weigh on that. With that being said, this is definitely an older group than the last two, and certainly more talented than the 21 team. Come next week, none of that matters we’ve got to bring our best game to bring back another title.

2008, 2009, 2017, 2018 all had bigger lines but this team played well upfront for their size and this was probably the most athletic team we ever had, 2017 was no doubt the best team but one could argue this team is in the conversation for second best it's all subjective though, we really missed some opportunities tonight and we'll see how good Corvian is next week.

I really thought we’d get the rematch from 09 this year

Definitely not a fair fight. You can stack the deck. Take the cards you want and let everyone play with the rest. Who's gonna win. Hopefully, Tarboro wins it for the traditionals...Wish I could ask Tucker how does she think this is fair play
Man, i’m sure the Cardinals wished it worked that way!

Wow we totally have not heard that before. It's funny though because this is only the second time in the last 8 years that Tarboro has played a non Surry County School so what does that say about the West? I'm not even trying to be combative either
You have heard it before because it's true....y'all would be very successful in the West. Just don't think y'all would put running clocks on everyone like y'all do in east. Hope y'all kick Cardinal butt next weekend

I would say Tarboro is playing better than anyone right now. Mountain purple is pulling for flatlander purple. No way a school with a legit lottery system can compete for a football state championship in just 3 years. The powers to be have to blind not to see this. This was one of the green teams top two teams ever and they used to be 2A and got further.
I don’t get into a lot of back and forth, it’s all pretty funny in here, but what can’t a team compete for a chip in 3 years?? These are all kids who started and took big lumps as sophomores. Their hard work and being healthy is finally paying off.

A regular team/school. It's pretty hard to build a program from scratch when you're restricted to one area of athletes. But when you basically didn't have restrictions as far as where your athletes come from, the process is sped up fairly quickly. You don't find it odd that the east AND west had a 3rd year team one step from the state finals, and that both of those teams just so happened to be charter/prep? Hell, Wilson Prep has already won MULTIPLE state championships in basketball.

I don’t really find it odd… I’m not sure what happens out east, besides what I learn on here LOL, but there isn’t the influx of elite athletes that are dying to come play 1A when there are soooo many options at all levels in CLT. Corvian has been fortunate to have a freshman class that did t play football and stick it out though a difficult sophomore and junior (riddled with injuries) year and really worked to get here. Outside of that core senior group we have VERY little high school experience… for us, can’t speak for anybody else, it’s a challenge. WE have a fairly long waiting list of you aren’t selected in the lottery and we rarely get a bunch of athletes in. Corvian’s success has been with the same (literally) day one group. They have pretty decent batch of coaches too!

8 straight years and this will only be the 2nd time we’ve played a team from outside of Surry County..what’s that say about the west?

I call BS!!!!! Corvian dont get a bunch of athletes in........BS its all they have. Look at 🏀/🏈 geez. Full of athletes!

Unless Tarboro has improved on offense over the last two years, I can see them losing, maybe by one score or being shut out. On the other hand, if Corvian has not faced the T offense that Tarboro runs, then they may win by 21 over Corvian. It is going to be interesting to see this match-up.

I am pulling for Tarboro because these Charter schools will take over football like they have been in basketball quite often. In the past I have always pulled for the all the West teams but this year I say, Go Tarboro Vikings 🏈 ! ! !

Tarb offense was very good last 2 years but ran in to a MA D that was a beast. Tarb offense this year prob as good as its been.

I haven’t been able to watch any film yet, but it seems they’ve been very fortunate to recover a ton of fumbles. Have these been forced or unforced ?

I've seen several Heritage teams play over the years and as far as speed goes this was easily the fastest Heritage team of the bunch by a big margin, #24 and #12 can both fly and the defensive team speed was strong.

This will not be a cake walk game for Tarboro. Corvian has beat ER, MA, and MH to get to the title game. They are a very good team. You don't beat all 3 of those without being good. All season those 3 have been considered top 5-6 in the state for 1A, 3 of the top 4 in some people's thoughts earlier this year. Tarboro has a game on their hands. In the games I have watched, they are disciplined and listen to their coaches. They have a lot of speed all over the field and have a large line on both sides. MH did a very good job blocking and held their own at the line of scrimmage last night. I was surprised by how well MH lines did for their size comparison. Tarboro can and I think will win this game, but it isn't going to look like the Eastern playoffs so far. It will be a good game.

Many of the fumbles have been forced. They look to be going for the arm holding the ball while they tackle if they can, but seem to be sure tacklers.

As others have said about the crowd, they have been small. 50-100 people, probably mostly parents.

All true. Corvian will have a game on their hands too.

Tarboro by 21+ - I watched a little of both regional final games tonight on NFHS and Tarboro is just better. Congrats to Corvian for knocking off MA, but this years version of MA gets smacked by last years version by 28+.

Funny, those were the biggest kids in the kiddie pool! And both loaded with D1 talent, much like yall!
