The second ranked 1A team in the state visits the #8 2A team SouthWest Edgecombe tonight. After a heavy afternoon shower, the skies make way for a light drizzle, rainbow included. Hope that's a good sign. I'm going with SWE 29 Tarboro 22.

SWE with the ball at the 30. Two runs, two first downs to the 50. Intentional grounding even though the qb was on the numbers. Then fumble by SWE, recovered by Tar and returned 50 yards for a TD. Missed xp. 0-6.

Second play of ensuing drive, Marcus Williams 55 yard TD run. 7-6 SWE.

Tar at 25. Two false starts. 3 and out. Punt to own 47.

Tar make a good tackle for loss, but after the ref blows the whistle to stop the play, the defender still slams the runner. Moves ball into red zone. M. Williams 4 yd TD run. 14-6.

Tar at 35, false start, 3 and out. Punt to 40. Tar hasn't seen a quick defense like this baby. So far, they haven't stopped us, and they can't pick up a first down. Cougar ball at 50. End 1st SWE 14 Tarboro 6.

We are eating them up.... So far. 5 yard TD run. 21-6 SWE.

Bless their hearts. An offsides penalty gives Tar their first 1st down. Then they earn one on the next play. Ball at SW 30.

Swe takes ball to Tar 45, stopped, excellent excellent punt bounces and stops at the one foot line.

Tar ball at 35. Ten yd slant, receiver runs for big gain down the sideline, tackled and stripped, recovered by SWE at the SW 15. With 7 minutes left, Tar is about done.

SWE kills the clock before punting. Bad snap, ball on ground, SWE just kicks it thru the end zone for safety. 28-14.

Tar penalties killing them. That 1st and 10 from the 11 is now 2nd and 30.

Tar turnover on downs at sw 11, one and half min left. SWE takes knee.

Final SWE 28 Tarboro 14. Tarboro offense earned 6 points.
SWE 14 7 0 7 = 28
Tar 6 6 0 2 = 14

Wow!!! The defence gave up only 6 points to Tarboro. That might be an all time best.

Congrats to SWE. Great win! You were a classy group of fans when I met a bunch of you 2 years ago when you came to High Point for the game at Andrews a couple years ago. Good luck the rest of the season!

Us country folks ain't that bad. Lol. We don't mind showing class and respect, saying yes ma'am and sir. We even said thank you to Tarboro tonight for allowing us to have a live practice tonight. Lol. Looks like your Raiders are back on track.

Could have played it this coming friday - both teams had a bye week… THS coaches had plans though and wouldn't play friday. Not too upset about it now though!

Anytime you hold Tarboro offense to one score you've done good, regardless of conditions.

After all the rain this weekend, including today, that field held up wonderfully. It could host a jv game this Thursday if we didn't have a bye. I saw nothing that would give a team reason to complain. No muddy areas. No chunked up spots. Nothing. The field played no factor. Tarboro just got that ... beat straight up.

I agree. The drainage corrections they made a few years ago have done wonders for the field. It still holds a bit on the sidelines, but its much better than the 09' playoff year which could be argued that it costed us a state championship...

Congrats to SWE on a very deserving win. Too many mistakes by a young Vikings team to have a chance playing a very well experienced SW team. 23 seniors wow this might be your year to make it to the Championship game. No complaints about the field they both had to play on the same one. Last time we lost to SW we won the State Championship hope that's a good sign! Once again well played game!
