Yep, some are, whether they admit it on not. As far as us being in 2AA, Monroe, East Lincoln, Hunter Huss, and Maiden, yikes, those are some athletic teams. Like you've mentioned before, I had Huss as a sleeper, to be a tough out for anyone. It's going to be interesting facing opponents that we haven't played in years.
Go 11 and 0 and number 1 seed and your rewarded a possible 2nd round matchup with East Lincoln.That didn't work out so good.
I'm not trying to stir anything up on here,but some Shelby guys on here have been wanting a shot at EL for a while now,hopefully it will happen,I personally think Shelby would win that match up,but it's a tough draw for both teams,this years EL team is not one of their better ones in recent memory
Yes this goes back to this whole split playoff deal. We would have liked to have played them when we both won the State but were in different brackets. I would put E Lincoln up there close with Crest and AC Reynolds who we have played, so I think it will be very close.
Shelby v East Lincoln would have been a great game last year. This year would still be OK, but Shelby would be the heavy favorites no doubt. Same with Monroe.
Monroe losing their QB hurt them, but their still winning and have a good win over Weddington.
I'd put Shelby as a 14-17 point favorite over EL this year. East has a good all around defense with corners who can hold their own against most receivers. Definitely don't have the speed of Borders but are fundamentally sound. East's offense is not nearly as dynamic as it was with Chazz the last few years, and the running game isn't too strong, but they do have several good playmakers. QB can fly. Hope this one does happen down the road.
Very elusive... Great field vision on the run...decent arm within 40 yards but will not hesitate to tuck in run through a crease up the field....
If Ltown goes out early(praying the football GODS are with us) I personally will be at one or more of these matchups if possible....these matchups can't be topped in the state...best of luck to all the area teams!!!!
Lincolnton isn't going anywhere, great leadership will allow them to progress after the loss to Maiden, they will be fine, good luck
He could really hurt Shelby if we over pursue. That's one of the weaknesses I have seen is that sometimes our defense takes itself out of the play. Crest QB hit Shelby for a long TD run last week and Burns QB hit Shelby with some big yardage. That cant happen against the QB's we'll face in the playoffs from EL, Maiden or W Caldwell.
We played all three and I'll just second what you said about over pursuit....WC QB is big and way faster than he looks can seriously make plays all over the field ...I don't even have to mention maidens....kid can flat out run... And that might be an understatement to most.... Like I said these possible matchups are top notch....
