State Championship Ticket Prices

The seats under the overhang are going to be in demand for sure. As for me, I have a rain jacket and poncho.

If my team hadn’t made it though, I’d probably sit this one out. Damn rain.

I’m still in favor of leaving the umbrellas at home. Once those things are thru the gates, it’d be hell to regulate where they sit.

I think it’s a dang shame that these kids get to play rounds of playoffs in front of thousands of fans cheering and come the biggest game of their lives and only a couple hundred people to see the biggest game of the year. Every year I travel to watch playoff football but have never even watched a championship game live. I don’t like the college stadium games.

I don’t know how many people were there for the 2AA game, but there were quite a bit of people on both sides. Probably as many as were many of the 4th round games.

But it didn’t likely feel like it, since everyone was spread out.

I would like to see the actual number of attendance but from the tv it looked pretty low. I know in the playoffs 2&4 round at Hibriten was standing room only huge audiences that were loud (great atmosphere)

I wish they’d release the attendance, although it wouldn’t be able to be broken down since one ticket worked for any of the three games. Best they could probably do is count the total numbers and divide by the number of games hosted.

I doubt there was 2,000 Friday at Durham for the 4AA.

Wow. That’s a shame! What a game it turned out to be. Friday night game. Rain.

I sometimes wonder, and I don’t have any proof to back it up, if the smaller 4A down to the mid 2A ranks have better attendance. I’ll use what I know.... North Davidson. 1100 kids. 70 varsity football players. 500 people drive to SW Edgecombe. Many having NO kid on the team in the last decade or more.

Kids in most mid-sized schools know from day one where they’ll go to school. The urban counties don’t have that. The kids you go to school with in elementary school aren’t the kids you’ll see in middle school... and so forth. That’s hard to build community. Lack of community doesn’t travel well.

I’ve been to playoff games with North Davidson where they traveled to TC Roberson (Asheville) twice, SW Edgecombe, and several other places in which the visitors side had many more than the home team.

I don’t know anything about Wake Forest High and Vance High, so please let me know if I’m wrong. But could that be some of the reason why less than 1000 people from each side came out to support their team in the biggest game of the year?

Maybe I’m spoiled. But man, even the meet the elementary school teacher nights in these parts are well attended.

all that...plus the fact that it was 38 degrees and raining...the casual fan will opt out.................................

Vance has some committed fans but few of them. They struggle fir support. It is an urban school, located in the University area. Just not going to pull huge numbers. That is very common in Charlotte.

The largest crowds I have seen at games have been in Charlotte. All involved Tom Knotts coached teams playing at Memorial Stadium. The two largest: Harding v Garner 1987 state title game. West Charlotte coaches by Knotts v Indy 1996. Three Parade AA selections. Probably next, Indy v Richmond 2003 regional final.
