Does anyone have any idea how good Hendersonville is? They are ranked a little higher than Newton.

Is St. Stephens good enough to pull off an upset?

my guess is a clean sweep this week... even LKN charter gets the win in double overtime.

I will take Newton over Hendo just because they have played better competition but Hendersonville will match up with Newton athlete for athlete. It will be a good ball game.
Bandys should win by a score or two against Bunker Hill, although BH has some decent looking athletes.
East by a lot. NG is terrible.
Maiden over St. Stephens in a tight one.
West will steam roll Foard
LNC over HIghland

I watched on tv actually the Asheville Hendersonville game. Hendersonville has athletes. Could go either way.

Lincolnton obviously.

Bandys easily.

East Lincoln- go see a closer game unless ur kids playing.

Maiden by 2 TDs but potential upset is there. A 50/50 chance this one is worth going to for you gamers out there like me.

Side note: What I mean by gamers is people who have- no kids playing, like their alma mater but not die hard on them, looking for a game of a school that interest them in area that has entertaining value n more bang for the buck. Game that can go either way.

LNC and highland tech. - a game that reminds me of Draughn vs East Burke. At least last years version. Not a game a gamer would go to.

In other news, former Lincolnton player Tyron Roberts has signed with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian football league. We are very proud of this young man and the things to come for him. Glad somebody is taking a chance on him.

Burns scrimmage Hendersonville this year. They have athletes in offense and can throw it a little. Don't know anything about NC. But I'm interested because we go up there next week.

I saw Hendersonville play at Asheville Friday night .Hendersonvilles offence is explosive .Carrington #4 there sofphmore running back is a gamer ,and one great player ,there QB can sling the ball all overall the field. also they WRs can run but, the thing about hendersonville is there not consistant at least that's been the case in the past few years.I don't know anything about Newton other than what I read on here.so I'm taking the Bearcats 41 to 30...

They are a spitting image of each other. Both should be a lot better than recent production.

Newton Conover lost a close one to Hendersonville. 38 to 31.

LNC lost to Highland Tech.

And of course we can’t stay off Hibriten on these post - hardest game til playoffs and running over South Caldwell. Postponed. I mention them cause South Fork will have to try to dethrone them hopefully before having to play Shelby. Ha, thinking playoffs already, can’t help it but it’s fun.

Good thing for Bandys that wasn’t a conference loss. I’m sure there’s an explanation- injuries, lucky turnovers for BH, bad calls, feeling the loss of several seniors, rival heat, could be a number of things

Glad you asked. BH is slowly rising to competitive level but they are not there yet however Bandys has owned BH in competition for a LONG time even when they lose a lot of seniors. No area sports announcer or journalist gave BH a fighting chance that I knew of. After this game I guess it shows they lost a lot and are in a rebuilding year but give BH credit.

Hickory and Foard i don’t even know what’s going on there. Cheerduck is the man to talk to bout Catawba Valley teams. Injuries are hurting Hickory from what I hear. Not a lot of participation either I don’t think.

Ok heres my input on BH. I said three weeks ago to watch out for them. They played us (west lincoln) very well in scrimmage; surprisingly well. I then found out from my son who thier defensive end was and saw quite a few other athletes on that team. The defensive end; forgive me I dont know his name, my son refers to him as forty jordy. He played at Newton Conover his freshman and sophmore years and was the player that put my son out for the season on a tackle from behind and tore gis hamstring. He was quite the prospect for Newton and would have been on the Varsity starting if not for Newton having a stable full of athletes 4 years ago. He transferred twice before his junior year, once to Lincolnton then to Maiden and tried to go back to Newton but was deemed ineligible and didn't play his Junior year anywhere. Now he is at Bunker Hill apparently with something to prove. He's a player.

Foard may be due to a new coach. They got rid of Minor to mixed emotions. Some wanted him gone from what I heard was due to; he was too hard on the kids, boo boo. Others liked his coaching style. Board was clicking when he was coaching. To thier defence, they played us a great first quarter. After that it looked like they got tired and slow. Thier stamina is not where it needs to be and they are not deep at many positions. Thats been our strong suit the last two years, we have great stamina, wear teams down with the run and have a great defence.

I don't know hickory at all.

No excuses for Hickory, but there are some factors to their 0-4 start. #1 is the competition they have played so far, 1 undefeated team and the other 3 have 1 loss each. The team experienced some early injuries that put them behind from the get go at QB. They have used a 4th string QB the last 2 weeks and hope to get the projected starter back for this weeks game in order to play a top 15 ranked 4A team in Reagan.

Hickory would like to schedule more local teams, but can't seem to get any of them to sign up to play. Their ADM includes the alternate school, H-CAM, that adds a couple hundred students with less than 5 total athletes, all sports, playing at HHS. Coach Russel Stone and his staff are working hard and hopefully our guys can get healthy and win a few games by season's end. One thing is the kids do not quit.

Fred T. Foard's situation just seems the administration and some of the parents are happy to be average at best with their football program. This is information I have gathered from many of their fans and a few of the parents. Coach Minor was a good football coach, but he stepped on toes and made the kids accountable. When you're average , you're always at your best.
