You do not. Why not? What are you afraid of? You pretend to be an expert on NC high school football, yet you are far from objective. You say you respect Shelby football, yet you consistently challenge our factual and historic perspectives, often in an attempt to diminish our point.

We wouldn't blame you for that. We have crushed you in previous debates here and corrected you time and time again on your misinformation and obvious slant to diminish us, while you say "not the Shelby program". You can't have it both ways.
We state irrefutable historical facts to support our positions. Not opinion.
You state, "No issue with Shelby's success but the constant longest sustained program, although respected, means little to anyone outside of Shelby who has no interest about the success from 100 or twenty years ago".

Then why are these high school "dynasties"so often discussed, both in media and in football chat rooms?

Why do we tick so many posters off? Because we shove Shelby's unmatched success in everyone's face. And while we do not care about the popularity contest, we are keenly aware that social media demands constant reminders, or you get lost and left out. And our efforts are paying off. It is obvious. TV, National Polls, All-Americans, All-State. The program and the players earn the attention. But the energetic promotion helps. We have seen the results when boosters remain silent.

We liked it better, before social media. We let the record speak for itself.
But those days are gone.

Give Shelby the nod every time great "programs" and "dynasties" in NC are discussed here. It is a fact.

Won only 9 games because they didnt play well. Its also the reason that by and large Mallard Creek gathers a ton of national attention while Shelby is largely unknown outside of NC. Mallard Creek plays a nationally rated schedule that includes travel outside the state to traditional powerhouse schools year in and year out. Byrnes, Southpointe, Dillon, Mcdonough. Shelby chooses to line up against the same squads pretty much every year.

Nothing wrong with that, just the differences in philosphy. Both have been very sucessful on their own levels.

Choking Mallard Creek will continue to send studs to College, with more kids on College rosters than any school in NC. They will continue to be on the National Stage. While Shelby will continue to beat up on the schools of the blind and stalk every board in NC to tell everyone how they did it!

Its really very simple. If you want to come on the 4a board and pound your chest then dont you think you should actually play a 4a team more than once every 10 years??

You can take shots at the national rankings all you want but the reality is Mallard Creek actually plays nationally ranked teams. Southpointe, Brynes, Mcdonough all nationally ranked when MC played them. Shelby while being outstanding hasnt even scheduled a 4a team in 10 years

Congratulations to Shelby on that ranking and it validates what everyone has already said a billion times. Shelby is a great small school program.

Probably a post that should be in the 2a forum like nearly all of yours since the ranking is for schools with 1,000 students. None of the 4a schools come close to qualifying in that category.

BandG...you are pretty knowledgeable poster but you love to grab some numbers and throw them out there. Your SOS rankings place Shelby into a mixed bag of all classifications over the state. Of course 4A SOSs are going to be higher than a 2A no matter which way you slice it. Did you see who had the overall #2 SOS is....I'll help you out....2-9 Independence because they play mostly if not all 4A schools. If you were to take all of 1A and 2A and rank the SOS, Shelby would still be near the top just as they are in the 2A only SOS rankings. Simmons doesn't have a human factor to look at....hmm Shelby played up against some top notch 3A schools and beat them....that is tougher than MC playing equivalent size schools. A 1A school playing against all 2A schools would technically be a tougher schedule than MC playing equivalent sized (or even smaller) schools.

Do you think if you put MCs schedule up against some of the 5, 6 and 7A schools from other states they would be #1? Probably no where near the top, but if you put them up against the 4As from other states they probably would be near the top. #1 in 2A is Northside, overall they are #97. Let's put MCs schedule in the bag with IMG and the like....where do you think they would rank then? Probably at the bottom!
