Pregame bourbon mule inbound. Gotta warm the innards
My excitement level and nervousness level are the same as when I was a player (but no pregame drinks back then).
It always went away after the first hit. Tonight it might not go down at all. As you said before...I'll be living and dying every snap.
Plus it'll be cold tonight...gonna need to do some finger stretching so I can update in real time. Can't be pulling a thumb muscle in the playoffs.
True to tradition....live drive by drive updates on the CVAC thread tonight by yours truly. @Maiden Creek will post on the statewide scores thread.

Fellers, if you claim nerves at the gate and if you’re clearly old enough to drink you get one drink of liquor and one drink of sun drop, and due to covid concerns that’s out of a Dixie cup not out of the bottle. Oh, and the house brand, tonight, is Four Roses, YUK !
I've never "yuk'd" a bourbon in my life. Smooth bourbon is okay...but I prefer my bourbon to feel like a mouthful of gravel.

The Valley of the Shadow of Death claimed another victim last night. Hot damn...real big BDE last night. (Blue Devil Energy). All you sorry SOB's that showed us no love...that didn't think we had a chance...quit doubting what I've been trying to tell ya! This Maiden team is built different! Sal had no answers...score was much closer than the game actually was.

Unofficially some numbers from last night I was able to get from the two stars:
QB Ethan Rhodes - 17 of 24 for 314 yds and 5 TDs with no INTs. (last year he threw 5 INTs vs Salisbury)
WR Chris Culliver - 10 receptions for 205 yds and 4 TDs.

To any Maiden fans. Would you say this is the best Maiden team so far. What other Maiden team would rival this one. In my opinion this may be one of the best so far.
1992 team went 14-1 lost West Brunswick at state, WB moved up to 3a the next year and won 3a state.
2004 (could be off 1 year) team went 14-1 lost to Thomasville in western final.
In my opinion this is probably the most balanced and most athletic team I have seen in my 30+ years of watching Maiden football. 95% of the guys have played football together since 3rd grade and you can tell in the chemistry they have. Very special group of young men.
2004 is correct. My junior year. Thomasville won state that year.
That was a heck of a team Grizzly, best team I played on was 98 team that got beat by Starmount in OT western final. Still gives me heart burn 🔥
Salisbury, I had them winning the west. I’m pulling for your Devils but I was looking at how bad Salisbury had beaten everyone and I thought they were unstoppable tbh. So I jinxed them 😂😂
I would like to think that them losing had a lot more to do with how good we are and less to do with a jinxing goober
My thing with Salisbury is they haven’t played anyone. The maiden game was the test for them.
I think a big difference with Salsibury is last spring they had Honeycutt as the QB. Now he is gone. But he definitely was the X Factor in those games. They also lost a big lineman at 350lbs. Not to take away from Salsibury but I felt the QB they had was different from night n day to the one now. Now having said that. Maiden is a different team also from last spring. They look way more polished now.
Tarheelfan are you confident your Rams will beat Shelby? I know this is the biggest game in the state and one that both teams have wanted for a long time. I would also like to know your thoughts on our game and who’d you bet on if you had to. I won’t be upset if it’s not my team I just want your unbiased opinion
If the game was at home I'd bet my rams. On the road I'm going to say 50-50 game.
I'm also thinking wrh and Ne is a tossup. I'm going northeastern by 6 though, I have to go with the big game experience of Ne. Being 100% honest, if the rams are fortunate to go back to states, these are the two teams that I'd be most nervous to play out of the east.
Thanks for your unbiased opinion. I had the opportunity to talk to our coach last night and I feel confident we’ll get revenge for the 17 game. I think the game will be close though, I have it a two point swing. We were able to get us a kicker so that has been a big plus the last three weeks. We’ll see how things play out and I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on Reidsville/Shelby and ES/Maiden.
I wondered how much of a difference being without Honeycutt would make, too. Haven't heard or read much about Salisbury without him but with the Hornets winning by big numbers there wasn't much reason to talk about him, until this past Friday night.
I'm convinced he was a game changer, but I'm also convinced that Maiden is not the same team Salisbury beat last April, even with some of the same key players who aren't the same, now. If the team in April played Maiden last Friday I think the game would have been closer but the Blue Devils would have won.
You have a good point Lincolnton. Maiden definitely show they are the real deal team.
I will add Maiden defense is way better this year I believe. Also QB is really good with his passes. They will be tough to beat going into next week game.

Anyone who has been following Maiden this year shouldn't be surprised by this result. I know some were hyping Salisbury up, but Maiden had something for them.
