Round 2: Burns @ Hibriten

Overshadowed by Pryor’s 413 yards and three touchdowns is the fact this was a great game until Hibriten started turning the ball over. We couldn’t stop them at first. But then the Bulldog defense forced four turnovers and we cashed them into 24 points, and the rout was on. We advance to the third round for the first time since 2012. Thanks for all the congratulations.

I don't even want to think about that 2012 3rd loss to Freedom 19-18... Played at KM (those damn goats lol)... If I remember correctly Burns scored and went for 2 & the win & came up short...

Last Burns 3rd round win came in 2011 against an undefeated Franklin team at Franklin 28-14.. Then we went on to get beat down by West Rowan in the Western final

Yeah that was the single most heartbreaking loss I have attended as a Burns fan. I feel confident we would have beat Concord the following week. Kicker couldn’t make an extra point and Damarrian Petty was out that week which really hurt.

We had Concord beat and let it slip away at the end.... heartbreaking. we were a few minutes away from going to a state championship!

Freedom was on a roll during that time. The previous year was considered by most to be one of Freedom's best teams ever but was disqualified from the playoffs due to an altercation with Chase. In all seriousness there was 4 or 5 years that Freedom coulda/shoulda brought a trophy home. Hopefully those days will return!

IMO Mike Helms should've been replaced with Sam Mackey. Blair was a good coach but obviously wasn't in for the long haul. Allen was a last minute decision that was handled poorly by admin. ….. and then there was Jim Bob.... Freedom missed it by letting Mackey slip away. Water under the bridge now, just sayin

Hate it worked out that way. IMO without Mackey we dont win in 2017.
