Richmond has been working in the weight room for decades and have the numbers to prove it. It is the main reason they have been able to stay somewhat relevant and competitive because as you have very well pointed out it has not been because of their size. The problem is the weight room can't make you taller or provide adequate nutrition to promote muscle growth. Only so much muscle you can pack on to 5'9 frame.

Coach Barns was the Santa of Richmond county. What no better way to bring smiles, happiness, and memories with a record of 110 wins, 6 losses, 5 State Titles Career record, with 157 wins, 25 losses, in 14 total years. This Santa is welcomed down my Chimney any time. So all outsiders may say, "Thats the past", Well Santa is in the past as well, but he comes back every year to bless, enrich, and fulfill peoples lives. Remember this, Richmonds link of the past is the Golden Gate Bridge equivalence towards their future.

Richmond has a solid history and a community that will always be supportive. With the right coach to develop them they may rise again. But it will take time, patience is key.

Gotcha. With the exception of the 2nd half, Harding got the best of MC, too. 2nd half...... noooot so much.
HArd to lose by 21pts and say you got the best of anything. Lets give HArding all the respect they deserve. They got a ring, they did not come close to beating MC.
Good size has always been the exception at Richmond not the rule. We used to overcome the size disadvantage with team speed but todays elite teams have size and speed to match. Contrary to popular belief with some of our own fans the last championship had a lot to do with the scheme that was incorporated. Not many teams running triple option out of the gun which made us unique and hard to prepare for. Also allowed us to get away with 185 center and 2 guards that weighed under 200. Option football is a great equalizer vs size and speed, don't have to block them one on one just read them. That is why the undermanned service academies run those schemes.
Richmond fans couldn't stand winning a State Title with Paul and in down years going to the 2nd or 3rd rd of the playoffs losing to a Butler and beating the breaks off Scotland EVERY year. Now some of those fans would give their 1st born up for some of that so called Raider Magic or whatever it was called.
And for this we would like to think every Richmond fan who help run him out of town Ya'll lost a great coach and leader and haven't replaced him yet.
