What used to be one of the marquee matchups in the state, year after year has degenerated to this..............Rams led 59-0 at the half, and it could have been more....took 3 knees inside Cummings 10 late in first half to NOT score..............

What in the world has happened to Burlington Cummings Program. Can someone from Burlington give us some insight. Actually 2A football in the piedmont area period has fell off.

We hear that a change in the school zones has killed this program. Some say that the rezoning has helped other programs in alamance County but has murdered this program. Is there any truth to this?

Heard the same...something has definitely murdered the Cavalier program...Steve Johnson must have seen the writing on the wall when left there about 3 or 4 years ago...................

Demographics in that area have changed greatly and you don't have the "football culture" any more. Also, IIRC, seems that there are/were plans to shutter Cummings and Graham or convert them to STEM magnets without athletic programs. Don't know where that stands now, however.

Hard to believe Reidsville-Cummings was a 15-7 game just one year ago.

Thomasville is headed right down the same path as Cummings as far as football...the demographics have definitely hurt us as well

These scores of the other Mid-State 2-A games are a bit of a surprise to me:
Graham 33, Siler City Jordan-Matthews 14
Carrboro 31, Bartlett Yancey 14

Hope it never happens to Reidsville, but with only one school near them I can't see it happening unless the kids stop playing football.

Be careful with that statement stanimallector. The county has already crept in and confiscated parts of vance st, harrison st, sherwood dr and Reid school rd. All of those are city limits yet the students have to go to the Rock. Now they claim that the Rock is over crowded. Reidsville now has less than 800 enrolled. You have to keep your eye on the situation at all times.

When Rockingham County HS was built and opened in the fall of 1977...the late great basketball coach and Athletic director at Reidsville, Hoy Isaacs predicted that the whole purpose was to steal students from Reidsville....I scoffed when he told me that but look what has happened.......Wow what a great foresight he had...................

Reidsville wasn't that good last year.
Obviously not as good as this year ... but that team did make it to the second round of the playoffs while finishing 9-4. And Cummings advanced to the second round also - beat Roanoke Rapids 20-7 in first round and lost 56-34 to Bunn in second round.

A year can make a big difference in some programs. Morehead and Northern Guilford are other examples. Graduation - not redistricting or anything like that - was the main reason.

The Rockingham county school board has two main goals. Gerrymandering test scores and keeping the real estate brokers happy.

If Cummings High School lost students and murdered the football program thanks to Rezoning School Districts. Where were the kids forced to go? Hate to see some programs suffer because of this Rezoning BS.

Reidsville/Cummings was a third round playoff matchup five years ago....saw Cummings in 2013 & 2014 and cannot how much they've fallen off just since then...by the way if I remember right, Johnson was still there in 2013, but not 2014...sad to see one of the proudest programs in the state now in danger of going 0-11....I thought surely they would beat Carrboro this year but that didn't happen...I saw Cummings in a preseason scrimmage this year at Southern Alamance HS and definitely noticed they were down from typical years past but had no idea they could turn out to have such a bad season
